They never have to worry about stuff like this and even worse, being eaten by a seal when they go get fish. What's better? A dead penguin in a seal's belly or a live penguin living in the lap of luxury at moody gardens?
I think the group had to lead the penguins back to the colony as the chicks kept following them from the camera shoots but idk, it just looked like that too me.
With the nature instinct, the adults can find the colony where they were born. I bet say the same instinct helps the chicks find way back home. So the chicks know where to heading, it's own energy and the temperature would be the critical points of making it or not.
The chick or the adult? A chunky baby is a healthy baby because he has a better chance at survival. And adults look extra chunky because they're bringing back food for their babies.
