    The power of the breath is an amazing gift the lord has given us.
    Heres an example
    The other day I had what could have been a serious accident on my bike,suffice to say I went head over heels over the handlebars.
    When anxiety and shock set in I did the WimHof breathing and calmed right down and everything just went away. Never underestimate this wonderful gift!

    I love yoga nidra. But for me, I want my breathing to be in complete control. Subconsciously. I don’t want to think about it so I can concentrate really quick, to get my Yoga Nidra most enjoyable, most beneficial. Becasue of what I have learned here, THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT BREATHING DOES FIR OUR BODIES, I always come to this channel. In preparation. To relax. Sometimes I do a mindfulness meditation before hand, but I always do breathing exercise first. I have a few favorite breathing coaches on TH-cam, but your 5:5, 6:6 and 4:6 breathing are just a must for me. I’m grateful every day for your calmness and being so sure of your facts, that we have all implemented and proven what you do is what you are supposed to be doing. Leading the troops! Thank you again!

      @Barrie Marshall this is amazing! That's awesome that you are thinking about your breathing in that way. This is actually the first thing I teach my students...that breathing is only functional if you bring it with you into all your daily activities! Pausing once in a while to drop in and notice how you are breathing and then, as you said, slow it down, for a few minutes here and a few minutes there. I love that you're focused on your breathing even while enjoying a pint! 🤣😂 That's great! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

    Hi great video. Just. Wondering if holding the breath between the inhale and exhale woupd help co2 and have less breaths per minute? Thanks

    • @BELightTT
      @BELightTT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi @gorelow jeff Thanks so much for trying out the session and for leaving some feedback. I'm not sure if I totally understand your question. You're asking if you take a pause at the top of the inhale before exhaling, if that further helps with CO2 tolerance? It certainly could! It depends how long of a pause you're talking about. There's really no end to the amount of variations we can create in the breath. But yes, in general, the more you can slow down your breathing, and the longer you can hold your breath without tripping into a stress response (that's the KEY!), the more you tend to work on improving CO2 tolerance.
      And then, yes, of course, if you add a hold between the inhale and the exhale, you are certainly breathing fewer breaths per minute. I hope that helps to answer your question! Let me know if you need more clarity.
      Also, if you are really interested in an in-depth study of functional breathing, please check out the details of my 4-Week Breath Boot Camp. I am currently working on releasing a new, revised version which I hope to have available in September. You might find it enjoyable! If you would like to share with me your goals with your breath practice, perhaps I can better guide you. Please let me know. What effect do you experience form practicing 4:6? In case you couldn't find the link to my 4:6 recording, I am copying it for you here: th-cam.com/video/Q43_ekK0lH8/w-d-xo.html I hope it helps. @@BELightTT Okay. Can I stand up and do 4:6 breathing and each time I do 5 minutes enough? Can I also lie down on the couch to do 4:6? Thank you.

    • @BELightTT
      @BELightTT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@easyacademy8110 If your goal is down-regulation of the nervous system, then my belief is that it is best to lie down to do your breath practice, as it encourages decompression of the spine and spinal nerves, and allows for deeper relaxation. However, it is useful to learn how to down-regulate, no matter what position you are in, as sometimes you will not have the option to lie down. So, for that, yes, it can also be very helpful to practice this breath cadence standing up or even while walking slowly. 5 minutes at a time sounds like a good starting point. Depending on your needs during the day, and how many stressors you encounter, you might try a few sets of 5-minutes of breathing throughout the day...or slowly increase your breathing time over several weeks. I hope this helps, Charliz. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    , doesn't breathing 6 per minute cause hypovantilation?

    • @BELightTT
      @BELightTT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @mohammadaminfateri7992 No. 6 breaths per minute is not hypoventilation. Most of the research we have on breathing (both clinical and anecdotal) is around this particular cadence. It has been shown again and again to improve heart rate variability, vagus nerve response, nervous system regulation, blood pressure, sleep, recovery, and so much more. Now, if you are someone who is ALREADY anxious and suffering with panic, 6 breaths per minute can feel like torture. You can't just jump into it and expect to get a good result. You must progress slowly. As your physiology adjusts, so will your response to the slower breathing rate. If you suffer with anxiety, this is a goal to get to...to be able to breathe comfortably at this cadence (at rest) for 5-15 minutes. But it does not sound like you are quite there yet, my friend. You'll have to go piece by piece, gradually slowing yourself down.

    You have to breath out through nose?

    • @BELightTT
      @BELightTT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @Jessica Burgers Thanks for the question. In most of the breathing techniques that I guide, yes, I ask people to breathe in and out through their noses...quietly and gently. If you really prefer to breathe out through your mouth, I suppose you can. It just seems like a lot of unnecessary effort to keep up for 10 minutes, and does not translate well into your daily functional breathing pattern. I hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.

    • @BELightTT
      @BELightTT  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jessicaburgers I appreciate that. Yes, breathing through the mouth is a bit of an epidemic. It is considered maladaptive and is a sign of some amount of underlying dysfunctional breathing pattern. Now, there can be a time and place to occasionally breathe through the mouth, but that is certainly not how your basic physiology is designed, and it is not ideal for daily life. • @BELightTT
      @BELightTT  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @wesclinton7825 Hi, there! You mean the difference between breathing 5 breaths per minute vs breathing 6 breaths per minute? Not much difference. Both will dramatically lower your heart rate and bring you into greater coherence and a parasympathetic state. For those people who are taking more accurate readings of their HRV, one rate might elicit a slightly stronger response for them. But otherwise, I would say they are interchangeable. Do you have a preference?

    what does it really mean by 6 breath per minute?

    • @BELightTT
      @BELightTT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi @Charliz Leon 6 breaths per minute in this video means 5 counts to inhale and 5 counts to exhale for the entire session. So each breath cycle is 10 seconds total, which comes out to 6 complete breaths per minute. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for asking!
