  • "Awakening invites us to live outside the context of the mind and to experience an entirely new way of being. But accepting this invitation can be disorienting. We're as likely to commit a great act of stupidity as we are to fall into the extraordinary simplicity of truth. In this satsang Adyashanti offers advice and insight for those beginning to explore the awakened life. Recorded(full dvd) on August 20, 2005" -- www.adyashanti.org
"If you filter my words through any tradition or '-ism', you will miss altogether what I am saying. THE LIBERATING TRUTH IS NOT STATIC; IT IS ALIVE. It cannot be put into concepts and be understood by the mind. The truth lies beyond all forms of conceptual fundamentalism. What you are is the beyond-awake and present, here and now already. I am simply helping you to realize that." -- Adyashanti
www.adyashanti.... (Adya's free "Teachings" web page with samples of audio, video, and writings)
Adyashanti's nondual teachings have been compared to those of the early Zen masters and Advaita Vedanta sages. Expressing both the infinite possibilities and the ordinary simplicity of a spiritually realized life, Adyashanti's teachings are directed to those who are sincerely called to awaken to their true nature and embody this life-changing realization.

You are very welcome. In 2006, Adyashanti's nonprofit organization had these dozen videos to download and watch for free on their website. TH-cam was very new. So new, that there were no ads and all videos were limited to 10 minutes or less. I emailed the nonprofit and asked if it would be ok if I posted these videos on TH-cam. I never received a response. But, I intuited that it would be ok. So, I did and 100's of thousands of very appreciative people were introduced to Adya for the first time. Back then there weren't many spiritual teachers or teachings on TH-cam. About 8 months later Adya's nonprofit began the process of sharing on this site all of his free videos that they have on their website and more. If you haven't already, check out the library section of his website for free video, audio and writings. Good stuff!

Enlightenment is inevitable but the key difference is realising yourself as God right here right now not when you die and god takes over.

I was actually turned on to all these ideas by Eckhart's books. I was raised Catholic, became born again in highschool, and rejected all religion in college. Now, at 28, I'm starting to see what that whole journey was for. While I love The Power of Now and A New Earth...I'm not that into Eckhart's speaking style. It's so....detached. That's why I'm thrilled to stumble upon this guy. Him and Tim Freke engage this material in a much more...alive manner. If you like this guy, look up Tim Freke. :)

He's also gone into more detail about death than that. He says that from his perspective, death is just another experience, although he also added that when the personality drops away, opportunities present themselves (as in the Tibetan teachings).

He's the real thing, IMO. I've never heard any crap or scandals, etc. about him and I've found he has a lot to offer - and I'm skeptical of a lot of these people myself. But there are authentic teachers out there, and my own has helped me a great deal on my path, including with my complex mental issues that have required a lot of skill and patience to work through.

    vis 'laughing about it' (5:10):
i am still (seriously) waiting for one of those 'awakened' teachers to drop the dessicated format of satsang & try to transpose the wisdom they have to offer into the format of 'enlightenment Comedy'.
the moment of 'getting' the joke has the same dynamic as the moment that triggers awakening.
even if the mindsets of comedian & awakened person were not bridgeable, it should be possible for such a partnership to co-create sublime lightbulb moments of realization.

The more I explore that which is outside of the mind, the more I appreciate the joy, rather than just the suffering that it brings. Playing around with all the subtleties and extremities of duality can be truly fun if not connected to identity :)

I've been on the most amazing 2 year journey of my life, i could go on and on about where it started and how it ended but it really dosent matter. The greatest tip anyone could ever get to awaken is the corner stone of all of Adyashanti's work. You are already awakened. It existed in your silance, all you have to do is swim and play the emptiness of no thought. It is not a goal that needs to be attanined, anytime anywhere it existes in the hum of silence. Yu are the silence.

Shortly after writing this my Mind (Ego) felt superior for building links. After letting the feeling immedately go, i suddely thought that it was its right to do this, because it has done a good job. After surrendering this thought (illusion of justice) i needed to stop thinking. It literaly clings on everything to substain itself.

This whole thing makes much more sense now.
After crying the realisation that everything is ok started to settle in. I gave everybody else the permission to do what they want. Suddenly i felt that i can do what i want. Everything would be ok. Then it hit me: What if the ego is not inside you, but every person outside is an aspect of it? The more i think about it the less struggles are in my head. This also fits with my experience i confessed at the "Wisdom of Do Nothing / Adyashanti" Video here.

Allso the search for meaning has stopped. But the shift to enlightment did not happen yet. Maybe there are more lessons to learn.
Thank you very much other me, though i dont take the worry in me.

yes. those things are caused by misunderstanding, which is to say, a dualistic state of consciousness that says "I am more important than you, and your suffering is less real than mine". All that's really needed to be free from sin is to see that others are the same as you, and ultimately that they are you and we are all One.

I believe he mentioned god to make it relelvent to western thought. Often westerners get confused when studying Buddhism because they are raised believing in God. Confusion is very bad for learning Buddhism, if you are adapting such teachings to your own understandings you will realize the truth in any way.

ugh. I can see reality. Seeing things with no judgement or mental projection whatsoever. Nature is so still! But my ego is still here. Now that i have a taste of reality, when i get really upset or angry, i see how far away im straying from it. I want to live in reality so bad, but how can i literally live in it? What is there to do in reality? How can i create relationships with people who are still "dreaming" My parents are so negative with thick egos.Seems its truth vs parental acceptance.

He criticized cosmetic surgery. If physical life was such a bad thing,it wouldn't be given to us by our creator. what ever we want to do to our body is our personal choice and making fun of those people who do it is basically called "passing judgment"; that really contradict the concept of enlightenment.

This is the perfect comment, when people are fed up with the term enlightenment and everything it represents your left with only one direction to travel. Test it, practice it, question it, only then will realization come. It's unreal that we "humans" think we are something intelligent that grew out of an unintelligent universe. Be brutally honest with yourself and beleive noth but your experience. once you can't describe something away you are forced to "experiance" it.
    Luv

@mickeyfinn80 -- personallly I would say --no. I am not a disciple of Zen Buhddism -- so I cannot speak to that school but in our practice of "mukti" or awakening -- it does not mean that there is any other world to go to or any reason that the actual present world should be difficult. Quite to the contrary. What DOES happen in our practice though, is that when this is happening there can be some unconcious resistance to it. Things come up when they are free. It's not always pretty. Namaste.

No, you misunderstood me. I just think that there is constructive (realistic) hope and illusional, irrational (unrealistic) hope. The first is fine and good, the second is self-defying as it never will come true and therefore will make you feel powerless (sooner or later), pitiful and desperate. If Adya really wanted people to look at "the bigger picture" he would encourage them to take responsibility for themselves (and also each other) instead of telling them to be oblivious about everything.

The point is that you don't fix these problems by making peace with yourself through a religion and keep on living like you do. It's no surprise that mainly middle-class women are drawn to eastern religions and their concept of "spirituality". They don't show the audience here but I am quite sure that over 90% of them are said middle-class people that live their hypocritical lives and look for ways to even out what you might call their "unbalanced state of conciousness". This stuff offers them.

'Resisting and fighting the problem' hasn't really taken mankind anywhere past the petty squabbles of yore though has it?
We have technology and improved medicine (complexity), but there hasn't been any headway made with the way we relate to each other. The last century was worse than ever.
Also, if we take the term 'problems' as just something that's a psychological problem, then more thinking won't get anyone anywhere.

  • @Asto508
    @Asto508 12 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, you find hope in ignorance. But it's just an illusion of hope, a hollow hope because it will never actually come true if you don't take actions to make it true.
In this universe nothing happens outside of a causal event chain. There are no miracles, no wonders. Just by putting your head into the sand, nothing will ever change the way you like. Instead others change the world around you and most likely to your disadvantage. That's the sad truth; the only truth you really have to accept.

Suddenly I knew what Ady was trying to say. It's like trying to explain the colour green to a blind man, you can't use other things because he hasn't seen those either. Alan Watts once had a 2 hour conversation with a blind woman about darkness, she had no idea what it was because she had never seen light... for me it was the imperfections in language that made something crack in my head. Its imperfections made me see it had been manufactured and thus flawed and Insufficient
