  • Adyashanti reveals the heart of the teaching -- what it means to rest as awareness. He explains how the egoic mind state keeps us from truly resting, and shows us what we need to relinquish so that a direct, immediate access to awareness can spontaneously happen with no effort on our part. “Do not think that enlightenment is going to make you special, it’s not. If you feel special in any way, then enlightenment has not occurred. I meet a lot of people who think they are enlightened and awake simply because they have had a very moving spiritual experience. They wear their enlightenment on their sleeve like a badge of honor. They sit among friends and talk about how awake they are while sipping coffee at a cafe. The funny thing about enlightenment is that when it is authentic, there is no one to claim it. Enlightenment is very ordinary; it is nothing special. Rather than making you more special, it is going to make you less special. It plants you right in the center of a wonderful humility and innocence. Everyone else may or may not call you enlightened, but when you are enlightened the whole notion of enlightenment and someone who is enlightened is a big joke. I use the word enlightenment all the time; not to point you toward it but to point you beyond it. Do not get stuck in enlightenment.”

To Be in a world filled with stress is something that has to be cultivated in the nervous system. Although it is here and never was not... to truly experience Silence we have to let go of the stress of past impressions and of our environment. Every thought, action, or object in our environment is like a magnet that takes our mind from Pure Being and collapses it to a point.

Thanks Adya… you never ‘give’ me anything! At best you simply resonate in my direction, so ‘things’ dissolve in and around me.
My desire to understand is still alive and kicking but thankfully it’s on a hiding to nothing.😂
My current preoccupation is around the mystery of ‘knowing that I don’t know’ and even that is up for grabs… lol 😂 Crazy days!
    🙏🏼 Cheers Bud.

To trust this present moment and the next and next is a mind- less state or a mindstate which is enlightened by the heart or lightcenter.
In this experience as being just a bodymind and framed , there is no real rest...therfore the seeking in all dreamstates in Maya is unavoidable.. 2 find back urSelf...as what u were bevor...beauty...perfect peace...bliss...call it the perfect state.
Thx 4 all the uplouds.. enjoying this talks❤❤❤

At the end of the day we are all a bit egocentric

I am very on board with what is being said here, but at the end you say 'if you DID this one simple thing with consistency'.
I am not trying to be smart here, as I understand the point being made, but I don't think there is any getting around the fact that if you are trapped in egoic thinking and identification you do have to do something to get out.
Even if what you're doing is in essence an absence of doing, you still need to make some sort of conscientious effort to want to get away from your egoic mind, otherwise what stops the loop of the mind, which is almost automatic for many people?
The effort may be so minimal it may be regarded as a lack of one, but it is still something in a way,
Also in regards to being the watcher or the witness, again I get the point about it being a sort of egoic activity especially if you start to heavily identify and try to be it, but surely awareness can watch or witness things, and so watching or witnessing is still a quality of awareness even if that's not all there is to it.
I just feel it is good to get clarity on this, as many people can end up confused, and then revert back to getting trapped in egoic activity.
    Nonetheless, a very good video.

I agree some of the pointers can be confusing I think it’s safe to say that thinking is an ongoing process even after awakening that won’t completely go away. For most the initial awakening is just that, it’s the beginning and there has to be some sort of practice to integrate this to the whole system and in every other aspect of our life

Its not his talking that is super easy. It is the presence that he bring with his words that people feel and gravitate towards. Anyone can say what he says, but people consciously and unconsciously feel an energy that accompanies his words that puts him apart.

Good question. Ideally awareness should rest on itself. But if this seems meaningless or too difficult then choose something neutral for it to rest on, such as the breath. That's meditation. Whatever you choose it should be something which does does not evoke feelings of attachment or aversion.

i don't think the word 'fucus' is used even once in this video, yet your mind hears it like that, it' cant imagine a state where it's not needed. But don't worry, it always takes time to really hear what is being said.

Adyashanti to me is like reading Zhuangzi. At least two hearty chuckles and a couple "well of course, that's so obvious"'s in every 10 minutes. =D

Do you ever get the idea that it's super easy to talk like Adya, Tolle, etc.? For me it might just be the problem of people actually taking me seriously.
