I know Cats are king but I'm more of a Wolf person. Would using a wolf with maxed out Furious Howl work or is the dps loss not worth it?

For melee survival PvP runes, I'd advise to switch Carve for Chimera Shot.
I can't count how many times a good disarm on warriors, rogues or other melee classes saved my life, plus Carve barely puts any pressure when we already have RS on a 3s cd~

Str = 1 melee ap. Agi = 1 melee ap + critchance. 100% get as much agi as you can. Specially with lightning reflexes giving 15% increased agility
really good question! i hope this goes up to the top, AGI is still king in melee build, it does crit, plus 1 ap, while str just does 1 ap

You're adding a lot of value rn by saving us all a bunch of time by doing the research on what top parsers are doing talent/rune/gear wise. It's much appreciated. Would love to see a build that's pretty much ideal for PvE but with a few minor adjustments for PvP. You already kinda did by saying add swiftness. Anything else?
Ty! Appreciate that. I raid in rock apes and although we’re at the high end of top 25 atm we want to be closer to top 10 or top 3.
This kinda stuff is what we have to do already but love to share that research and effort.
With that being said a guide is just my opinion! There’s always minor changes that ppl can make and be just as good if not better for how they play!
As far as changes I recommend it really just boils down to how you play!
Almost any talent is viable if you play to that strength!

Leveled 5 to 25, hunter being last. Idk if it's because it's fresh on my mind or what (took last two weeks off) but decided to push the hunter to 40 first. Been trying the melee thing the whole time and am loving it. Never really played hunter as a main (some twinks back in the day)
Why put points in [Improved Aspect of the Hawk] if you gonna go melee hunter? Also why choose a 2.0 speed atk cat when you can get a 2.5 speed bear?
How does aspect of the hawk talen tfit in this if you are going to be mostly in melee? Isnt it worth it more to just get the increased health on the pet then?
Well in PvE pets have Have Avoidance and really should never die unless directly targeted which shouldn’t happen in PvE therefore imp Hawk would be useful because you will do ranged abilities even as a melee hunter
With that being said bis comes down to DPS and assumes best case scenario if you feel like having more health would help your personal play style then you do not have to follow that part ofc!

You will have to use viper. Otherwise you will have mana issue after 15 seconds in combat
@@tokopaaisen2927 well yes, but not at the start. You will deal 10% less dmg.. you can weave in viper when you get low on mana. Don’t use it the whole fight

is 1.2 cat still great for the pvp survival talents? or is it still 2.0 for pvp too
Thing is, the slower the attack speed the harder Flanking Strikes will hit. It would need some tests to see if annoying casters is more important than hitting them harder with FT.
Im doing first lockout tonight, me and fellow hunter both have pre raid bis for melee, 1 shouod go bm+ kings and the other survival+lonewolf? Or is it too early in gear phase and both go BM-melee

@@cheapcyborg4866 5/6 in 3 hours. 1 shot crowd, and grubby, 3 shot rest. Final boss we only got 5 pulls before losing healers so we called it, we got to final phase last 3 pulls but we were lacking some consumes. Never went backwards in progression he would have died in another 3-4 pulls. Hunter dps/utility of taunt and BM ability to go melee or range is super strong

Hi, can you share your weak auras please?
I play lone wolf survival, I prefer to not have to manage my pet for once. First raid I was top dps in almost every fight, but when it came to parses they were super garbo. (top dps by like 15% but parsed a 25) Looking to improve those numbers, even if it means pushing way ahead of the rest of the raid in numbers. That also means there are a LOT of melee hunters parsing atm, no shocker there.
Raptor strike is our primary source of damage, the more we can use it the higher our numbers will be. We need a reliable sim to see the difference between survival lone wolf and BM pet specs. Current top parser for melee in the logs does NOT use a pet, so lets figure out the minor details and zug zug.
Does the dmg increase from lone wolf actually make up for the fact that you're losing the flanking strike dmg that your pet would do?

well this isn't classic - it's unclear if we can hit hitcap etc, bosses are 2 lvls above us also instead of 3, which is a massive change.
Best we know atm is the sixtyupgrades stat weighting which is pretty unanimous amongst hunters atm. Noboddy else has come up with a valid argument agaisnt it.
hit is basically eqiuivalent to 22 Attack power while agilitiy is equivalent to 2.8@@sniperdps

Where you getting 50% Xp boost to 40 from? Isnt it to Level 25
50% experience is up to lvl 25. Maybe a wolf would be a good pet for melee hunter has it buffs melee damage with howl. They can’t learn claw but they have bite so their dps might be lower for the BM spec 😊
Howl is pretty bad in SoD it’s true dmg so it’s added after multipliers while other abilities are done before and therefore do so much more.

Do you think a melee variant without dual wield spec and trap launcher in the leg slot instead could be viable in PvE? In PvP I prefer it and i just love the trap launcher rune. Even if you lose some melee dmg you get 2 explosive traps in 30s vs just 1 if using feign death everytime.
100% my trap launcher rune is bugged so i cannot loot it for some reason lol, otherwise i would've included
- basically you prio traps after FS , RS and Carve

@@NaturetvzI had to reset my cache and it worked. Also I've been running the Ravager with melee specialist and Trap Launcher runes for big Aoe damage in a large pack I was doing 520 damage per second. It felt pretty damn good. I am running survival for the increase raptor crit and trap damage.
I've melee'd next to my bear for for years when it wasn't considered a viable spec. Now it's fun to do.
No it's not. I hope it gets weakened, if I wanted to play melee I would play rogue or warrior.
good news there's still lots of shooting in a hunters tree. Instead of always ranged attacks hunter's can expand an old game in a new way.
Or just go BM and delete enemies from afar as normal. Options is a good thing, not bad.

@@AcidGubba If you don't want to explore new ways of doing old things there's always Classic Wrath. SoD isn't for everyone. Some folks dislike the "new" , in favor of maintaining the old ways of wow gaming.
@@AcidGubba Every warrior and rogue knows you have to engage hunter's at point blank range to eliminate their capability in battle.
Now hunters have the option for toe to toe melee with melee'rs and not lose advantage.
Melee attacks are just another tool in the hunter's toolbox. It's only a single season. Live a little. Or decline the use of a new tool to play hunters with.
How much of a dps loss is lion that you wouldnt want to give your whole raid 10% stats?
you want to give your raid lion at all costs! it's not a big loss if you're the only hunter. it's only a issue if you have multiple hunters or kings, therefore lone wolf would rain supreme

yeah absolutely, melee is just that unexpected flavor of the day, so i covered that first. MM/BM non melee coming soon!
how dose raptor strike dmg calculated? With melee+dw rune, and wsg sword+ outlaw saber, rs crits for 380 at lvl 32. But same rune, corpsemaker rs crits for 480-580. The maths didn’t go up, as the total weapon dmg for duel swords is almost the same as corpsemaker???
How are you hitting so low, i bought green lvl 32 axes and im getting up to 1k crits
Are you using the dual wielding rune? Because it gives you a ton more damage per RS

@@pelzumhang you will make use of raptor strike which deals dmg with both weapons. weapon damage will then define how mcuh dmg raptor strike does and often slow weapon's dmg is higher than faster weapons

yes and no, part of scaling is crit and hunters still have 53 agi to crit. however that may work differently with melee so we could just basically be a rogue? lol these are new questions but great to ask and figure out for sure.
you dont think trap launcher is better than duel wielding rune for pvp? 30% dmg and longer frost traps with clever traps talent seem pretty good for pvp
Trap launcher is great for those who play the more ranged/traditional route.
The melee and dual wield spec runes are there for people who want to be able to deal damage close range as well.

What weapons, slow?
Slow is better I believe because raptor attacks with both weapons instantly.
*Pushes up glasses* - Actually, off hand weapon damage is halved, half damage + 50% is 75% of regular damage. with that said it could do 100% damage, i have no idea how the rune actually works.
You never know how they do math. Sometimes its additive and sometimes multiplicative.
One handlers are reduced to 76% on main hand. while off hand is 51% so the extra 50 puts it at 76% because it round up.
50% xp buff isnt to level 40. Only up to 25
honestly the "range weave" part isnt worth, only auto-shots which are basically off the GCD and free
They need to reduce the range lockout on ranged hunter abilities. Not remove like retail but make it a step or two to weave better and it won't make them op for pvp or pve.
hunters are hard, i wouldn't want to be blizzard, they are ranged so if they do even dmg they can basically avoid mechanics more and start combat easier so they overtake. But if they make them less powerful to compensate they really just lose lol

never understand why people waste point on making wing clip immobilize when the slow is more than enough.
I am good with everything except the slow pet. I totally get 2.0 pet makes it hit HARDER. Though it still has a 30 second CD default. So in that 30 seconds a 1.0-1.3 cat would do ALOT more dps than a 2.0 pet. I cannot get my head around making 1 strike harder for a single attack. All those attacks in 30 seconds each can crit and easily out do the flanking strikes over all dmg/dps.
In short, because pet damage is normalised, a 1.0 pet does the same dps as a 2.0.

well that's a small part of the video, one thing i mentioned is running aspect of the lion for the team, in that case you need to make a pet choice.
so yes you're right, but pets would be relevent in a different scenario that i also covered which is why then pets were covered.

Hunter discord says Raptor is prioritized over flanking
Hunter discord is often so clueless. Why would it be flanking behind raptor? Makes zero sense cause raptor resets flanking cd. What is their bullshit reason ?
Flanking strike increases raptor strike damage..... flanking is prio to fet the buff up. IF THE BUFF IS UP THEN RAPTOR
Flanking is priority over raptor unless you are capped on flanking stacks and it has time up. Then I would spam raptor and before flanking falls off I would refresh it.

Season of Discovery phase 1 was fun. Phase 2, so far, not so much. The overcrowding is just too much to deal with right now. Trying to quest is an absolute nightmare. I have played since the second or third week of WoW's release and have never seen it this bad. This is the first time in WoW's history that I have went to quest and seen ZERO mobs to kill, I literally mean ZERO mobs. So many people everywhere that you go, it's out of hand. You simply cannot quest. Sure, if you want to dungeon grind to level, but even that get's old real fast as you do not get to experience the phase 2 world as intended. If they do not add new servers, or seriously crack down on, what I call, "super-farmers", then SoD will go the way of retail and just fall off the mmo map. I post this so that if folks are experiencing the same bad things that I am, maybe we can all start speaking out until they add more servers.
I have seen this since vanilla release and other classic. You just have to get ahead of the pack or dungeon spam or wait 3 weeks
Cracking down on super farmers? U wot mate? Disconnect players who get tags on raptors in stv?
To be fair this has always been an issue even way back in vanilla specially later on when places is neutral/pvp specially in popular place like the infamous STV in this phase where both Horde and Alliance are questing. Some other places are relative questable even this early. It is a bit of a double edged sword it can be frustrating but I rather have it like this than a dead game. If you have a hard time farming mobs for a quest you have a better chance if you find other people which are on the same quest and make a group like the game was intented.
this melee bullshit is really annoying and has nothing to do with a hunter in wow.
