this is my favorite mission from back in the day: - Split bases with multiple ways to advance or support each other - Each base u take out gets rewarded with a gold or a settlement - Peak greek gameplay with a build up from age 2 up to age 4 - An epic final battle at the fortresses An example of the fantastic mission design in this game
Personally, i see split bases idea as mediocre in practice. It would be nice if they were actually 2 factions (with separate eco) you had to control. Or to have a better way to connect than to run through the middle of the map. Because in the way it is made i found myself simply focusing building up a single base (Arkantos) and pushing through the map to open up a passage, not playing simo. And all that leads to an unnecessary complication with no particular benefit to gameplay. There is another split base mission in the egyptian section. And i think its done a little bit better. You simply can cut the trees between your CTs and have a connection just like that. And to make it perfect i think the mission needs to combine the two. Have an easy path to link up your forces but make you work for that harder. Unfortunately, there is no such mission in this game yet.
@@vitorossi7839 you do realize you can just go Apollo and get the underworld passage to connect your bases? And you can do it almost immediately too, you start with the resources to go Heroic Age. The only downside is you don't get go Dionysus which is arguably the stronger god for pushing, but Apollo is not bad at all. So much like the egyptian mission, two bases is optional and really not recommended.
@@asdt560 that's kind of the point. The OP mentioned split bases as a good thing. I said how the idea is not utilized properly by the devs. What does this have to do with the underworld passage? If you are talking about the better connection, thing it won't help to fix the problem I talked about. But yes. I know about the passage. I used it. Does not help the 2 bases idea. Makes you use a god power to completely negate it. Not agood design.
Also nice that's it just a booming mission, allows for some massive armies. I had about 20+ Hydras and Medusae, it was epic. And it also introduces the Roc, which wrecked my western base since I was microing my two armies and not paying attention to my base, 11.
Viper: I keep floating so much resources. Also Viper: I don't have any favor. Just transfer some vils to the temple! Favour is also a resource Viper! 😅
13:43 My whole army consisted of Hydras & Medusae this mission, it was awesome and I wouldn't have it any other way. Similarly in AoE2 I often just try to mass elephantos, because who doesn't feel like a bad-ass when an army of elephantos tramples everything in their path? 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘
if you're still autoqueuing resources and your resources are high, doesn't that mean you don't have enough production buildings? also, I wish this game had stone as a resource too. WFG and faith just.
@TheViper Do you intend to play the campaign on the new legendary difficulty too at some point? Since it gets the same cheats as the old Titan AI, it would probably be more of a challenge than this new, non cheating Titan AI, even though it is smarter overall. The more you suffer, the more fun it is to watch :)
I've always wondered why Gargarensis needs to capture civilians to dig out the Underworld Passages when he has an army of dudes and monsters that could do it instead.
I think if you leave it on this mission or another one the slaves will finally uncover the passage and a bunch of monsters come out and kill them. Gargarensis probably thought better them than us lol.

Split bases are dumb honestly, its better to be cornered so you only really need to focus on a single direction

Can't get enough of viper playing AOM.❤

Looking forward to "Isis Hear My Plea", that one gave my a HUGE headache on titan! (:

4:15 Fun fact, "Aegis" is also a cheat code in AOE 2 DE to instant build, train units/villagers and research
When I was young, seeing a separate base caused me headache.
Little did I know, how OP starting with 2 TC would be…
6:55 you can queue with right click
One of my favourite missions on AoM, definitely on my top 5
Easiest way: advance through Apollo, push until both bases connect, make siege and underground passage into their fortress 😂
can use passage more than once now, so you can use it to connect your base and sneak attack theirs

Love when those bulls just fling the enemy units.
God im struggling with this on hard 😂
you can que up a the new age even if you dont have the resorser you have to left click on the upgrade button then choce wich one
I remember most of the game quite well but this mission was very special.
Something costing wood or only wood in this game is the worst, it is the only finite resource.
Still infinite via marketplace (prices don't grow infinitely like in aoe2) or plenty, but it becomes more expensive late late game.

My favorite mission as a kid. So much damn nostalgia.
Medusa are pretty useless unless your opponent has some beefy myth units.
Vipi you need to earn favor aswell
Viper in AoM. Just perfect❤
One of my favorite missions!
Was this the first time Viper got the underworld passage to work?!
your playlist is ordered backwards viper, it puts this episode (8) as the first episode in the playlist, pls fix ❤
My favourite unit in this game are the Myrmidons from Zeus.
Why?
@@Soccercrazyigboman cause of the movie troy. They Deal extra dmg to All non greek units and good swmi good against myth units
AI building both Hydras and Lions thats cheating D:
guess its 2 different AIs both dressed in red color

14:07 That should be added to AoE2, that is such a QoL feature.
Omg dude put some more vills in temple, that was hard to watch.
Aom content is the best content on this channel 👍. Just a bit of game prefernace bias on my part hahah.
gg
Did Ajax lose his special atk shield bash?
he still got it but since he oneshots most units with it they arent flying anymore
wtf happened to gargarenses voice, thats is so not him,
