    I grew up with the PlayStation 1 under my tv stand and it's one of my favorite retro gaming platforms of all time...so I wanted to do SOME SORT of series on it. But considering it's more fun to talk about the esoteric side of retrogaming I decided to do a ten part series on arcade games that run on PSX hardware; the Capcom ZN-1 and ZN-2, the Namco System 10, Namco System 11 and Namco System 12, the Konami GQ and of course the Taito G-Net.
    Patreon Thanks : Seth Peterson, John Thompson, Paul Daniel, Porch, John Anderson, RayceARoni, Kuranghi, Jason Hixon, Alex Tessler, Jonathan Leung, Martin Donlon, Tom Van Deusen, Barobob, Steve Randall, ahab, K-2, Renaissance 2K, Ivar Wennerholm, Adrien Sebbane, tobemorecrazy,
    Mike Puelinckx, Tony Escobar, H7, Humanoide70, Ben Parfitt, Holger Schmidt, Tim Lehner, matschmonster, Shad Uttam, Dan L, James Mann, Richard Schneider, Coupon Joe, Sunder Raj and Dorfus!
    Up next: Crypt Killer! Konami made a ton of lightgun games for arcades and while Evil Night on the 3DO M2 is my favorite...Crypt Killer is no slouch! I own the original Konami GQ arcade board after all! But if you are into horror games ala The House of the Dead and have never played Crypt Killer...you are totally missing out! It's pure B movie horror retro gaming at its very best. Definitely an obscure gaming experience though!
    Its basically The House of the Dead except with near to pure 2D sprites and a different setting...but it was Konami's take on the horror arcade genre and it came out before Sega's all time arcade classic. Sadly its rarely talked about but its a piece of video game history!
    It's also available on PSX and Sega Saturn as well!

    Crypt Killer on Playstation 1 is still, after all these years, one of my favourite games ever. I just love the moody sprite and polygon mix they used. Love this graphics style so much. I just played this on my Playstation 2 the other day for my channel. I could never ever part with my old Crypt Killer game, along with all the other games I've had for so many years. Something special about playing your old Playstation games on the original consoles, in this case either PS1 or PS2. Like you said, the soundtrack is excellent too. Some games just completely click with you, and this is one of them. I have the PAL region version myself, with the slightly chunky cases we got here compared to the CD style case that North America etc got. PAL cases just look really nice. Really enjoyed the vid!

    How dare you speak of my mom like that, she also has horrible personality! Not really, she's a lovely lady. I really miss arcades and all these goofy games that didn't have to make sense, just be fun. Why do you jump into the water to fight the mermen if they, too, are outside of the water? Why are the mummies throwing so much toilet paper at you? So many questions!

    I remember that Konami's shooting arcade game. I used to play it on Sony PS1 (PAL version) when I was a kid. It looks good but unfortunately I never beat the game. It's probably one of the most underrated 1990s games of all time.

    Been super busy with work the past few weeks so I'm now catching up with your vids. This is such a hidden gem and I love everything about it even the graphics. Plus the fact it supports 3 players..amazing!
    That being said...so MAME is the best way to play this? When I tried that version the resolution did not look anywhere near as good as yours. Are you using any sort of filters or special settings?
    Also side-note: have you tried MAMEhooker? Its some program that reads the MAME games's input and makes your lightgun recoil accordingly.

  • @KowlDoogle
    @KowlDoogle ปีที่แล้ว

    i like that the enemies themselves are mixed media, like some are just sprites/polygonal, some are pre-rendered 3D models or stitched together photo references and some look like puppets/toys they've posed and taken pictures of (the golem doesn't appear in your playthrough but you can tell he's a toy). It makes it really exciting to see what the next ones going to be because you don't really know what to expect.
