Every Mogwai album sounds like a different band but at the same time you always know it's Mogwai's unique sound, textures and composition techniques, maybe that's the reason why i love them so much
Remember guys this is quintessential Mogwai, they will never do what their fans want them to do........I guess that is one the reasons as to why they are so good

I had to switch my brain from "Post rock mode" to "Shoegaze mode" to be able to love this.
Now I love it.
I was totally getting some Slowdive/MBV vibes, hit the nail on the head here!
It slightly reminds me of "Killing Moon" from Echo and the Bunnymen.

Ye7ia07 Thank You! :-) I just heard some of their older stuff and 'restraint' is what I'm thinking when I hear the new ones now. These songs could go full pow wow but it's as if they chose to explore a mellower side of that.

Mogwai ya han escrito una página en la historia del rock. Su sonido experimental fue un paso adelante en lo que se denominó el post-rock, nadie como ellos han sido capaces de crear paisajes sonoros que oscilaban simultáneamente entre la ternura y el abismo. Desde el rompedor debut "Young Team", una obra magistral, hasta este su noveno disco han logrado crear una música trascendental, identificable con sello propio. Es cierto que algunos de sus discos, como no, han resultado fallidos pero su obra resulta grandilocuente. Mogwai son muy grandes y el tiempo los reconocerá como grupo influyente, decisivo y con unos directos absolutamente brutales. Ni siquiera la marcha de John Cummings en 2015, principal guitarrista de la banda, ha supuesto un daño en esta banda que se ha convertido con el paso del tiempo en un supergrupo, al que no paran de ofrecerles componer bandas sonoras o participar en los festivales más importantes del mundo.
"Every Country’s Sun" contiene piezas excelentes como "Coolverine", "Party in the dark", el tremendo "Crossing the road material" u "Old Poisons". Veinte años después demuestran grandeza, con una sorprendente capacidad de sorprender nuestros oídos. Nadie son como ellos.

There are people who moan about the lyrics and different tempo but to me it's like having your second favourite band. I love original Mogwai instrumental slabs but I also love their take on indie.

I'm a longtime Mogwai fan, and for me this song sounds exceptionally well made, plenty of Mogwai feel to it, beautiful lyrics - it might be a bit unfamiliar but definitely the right sonic direction for Stuart and the band to explore (I think Teenage Exorcists should've been an album single, too). BUT what's with all that weird EQ crossover of the backward reverb on vocals and jangling guitars?! Of course, I'll give it a spin on another pair of headphones but for now the chorus is a mess because of it.

I'm a longtime fan too but i feel the opposite, the same delusion i felt with Mexican Grand Prix (and whole Rave Tapes). Anyway the rest of the album is pretty good!
That was bugging me too! I couldn't tell if I was just being too critical. The rest of the track is so good. Obviously they are a band that use a ton of effects, so vocals should be no exception, but I think they just overdid it on the chorus here.
I disagree, love the effect and it's actually one of my favorite aspects of the song. I could understand if it was more dominant in the mix, but it's subtle enough to not be grating on the ears while adding to the affect of the spaciness/disconnectedness of the song.

Bowie doesn't get enough credit for doing just this. We can't ever listen to all of Bowie, it's endless. Then it ended. This song reminds me of a softer Heroes and I love it.
