Beat this boss for the first time with this build (with the rusty spear though) and I've got to say, this is probably the best boss they've added! Huge step up in difficulty from the other bosses and a challenge for those who are willing to set up for the requirements needed to take this moldy monarch down. I'm honestly excited for the future of grounded this year.

I have mad respect for a fellow parry champ. I always run compliance badge two handers cuz I'm a moron and I wanna see how it pans out with that when I get to fighting it.
Gosh its such a grueling boss even to watch. Ive only done it on medium 3 times now and I cant tell you how many times ive looked up at the health bar in phase 3 thinking "gosh i got so much further to go" but its strange it feels like once you really get the momentum going then the fight starts turning.
Whoever said that he didn't play in 'Whoa' mode and made him redo this video to prove it, is a crybaby. He had spent almost 1300 hours playing Grounded. Yesterday, he tried tons of combinations to come up with his best loadouts for sharing. Feel free to ask him for any questions in Grounded. He will be happy to share with you people.

They only didn't believe because they can't even do it on easy that well. trying to beat her in woah is a very hard task. Did it once too, but I'm trying to go for a no-hit run. the bombs in phase 3 makes it quite hard tho. Congrats on the kill once again
I love how in this game an enemy becomes completely trivial if you know parry times and a decent weapon so you're not hacking away at them for 3 hours with a pebble axe. still impressive, didn't they recently nerf her by making some of her later phase attacks slower? i fought her in a custom game when she first came out and i didn't think her 5 hit combo was possible to block.
This boss took me so much time to beat, it went from learning the phases to finally beating her after I realized that you can’t perfect block all her attacks in phase 3 so you have to use a shield or you’re dead
Amazing gameplay man, but I want to say that if anyone sees this, remember that you can do just what this guys doing with practice, it took me around 10 tries to beat the infected broodmother for the first time, on my successful attempt I had learned most of the timings and yet I got between 30-40 stacks of healing debuffs, used most of my 51 smoothies and near the end my shield broke and I had to use just my level 8 fresh rust spear to block but I did it, because i had practice, and I still nearly died, now one thing I wanna say is you'll really want a shield, if you dont need a shield for this fight youre reading the wrong comment, now I'd recommend either a fresh rust spear or what this guys using, a fresh toenail scimitar, i chose the spear because its cheaper and it still gets the job done, but a scimitar would probably work better but maybe its personal preference, and you might want the shield solidifier which if you even can fight this boss you should have unless you for some reason ignore sour candies like the plague, its your choice though, there are some other good ones like the fungus charm is good if youre lucky enough and are having issues with the bomb damage, the solidifier is good if you were like me and were having trouble getting stunned during the fight due to missing parries with just a block instead, but just so you know I tend to *still* get stunned once or twice during the fight the boss is just that insane but the solidifier is still a good option, I also would recommend making the food that gives you dust immunity (might be called empenadust?) For the dust in phase 2 and 3, specifically phase 3 if you're low on dust mite fuzz, other preparations are especially up to your preference and how much buffs you think youll need, each of those first roughly 10 attempts I used a lot of buffs but it still took me that many tries, but when you finally defeat her it will become much easier, my second try I didnt have a second empenadust because I was low on fuzz but I used: 2 wasp foods(forget that ones name too) 2 mite foods(I'm tired ok my memory isnt very good) one empenadust for phase 3(make a second one for phase 2 if you have the fuzz, not sure on how long the buff lasts but its good to be safe), one liquid rage (sticky, for phase 3, id probably make more to make the whole fight easier, but I wanted to save my spider fangs, and phase 3 is where you need the most help) 2 human food smoothies (sticky, phase 1\phase 3) 2 fuzz on the rocks smoothies (sticky phase one\phase 3) and finally 31 beefy slop (it can be any smoothie, just make sure its beefy, slop is cheap tho) and I beat it on my first try (this was my second time killing it) that just shows that if you beat it once you can probably beat it again (dont take that out of context) so yeah uh believe in yourself, you can do it, sorry for the *VERY* long comment thanks for reading and have a good day
When i first stumbled onto the broodmother den in the hedge it was absolutely terrifying, but this area.... idk, its beautifully done dont get me wrong but its not as fear inducing, ive yet to fight the infected broodmother but idk, it fits with the environment but still
I think it's because of the lack of dead stinkbugs, Spiders, and other predators. At least, that's what made the Hedge Brood such a terrifying thing to stumble upon for me.
why do you choose for a roly poly set rather than a fire ant set? The fire ant increases your dmg output and roly poly only increases block gauge by a certain amount because of the sleek effect, however with the fire ant armor you can just use bulky (sleek isn't worth it for fire ant), thus giving it heavy armor defense without the extra stamina cost and you don't seem to be needing that much block gauge. Also, would it really be that bad if he stuns you once in a fight? If you were unlucky and would get a 4 hit combo (1st hit stuns) after the stun, you would still be okay with half health because of blademaster and infection. I was also thinking that a fire ant shield could be better than ladybird bc you gain stamina when blocking because you're not attacking and also when you get exhausted, you'd be right back to full because of the blademaster perk. Lastly I would also consider using corporate kickback rather than shocking dismissal if you use the fire ant setup, because of the risk of being stunned. It ignores the regen nerfs and gets your right back to full and with all the blocking it procs quite often. Besides, the shocking dismissal only does around a 3rd atk swing when procced and the stun doesn't matter because you don't stun the boss once in the fight (therefore the roly poly piece effect also is worthless). These are just things I thought about and aren't necessarily the right way, but I was wondering what your thoughts are on it? Also great video! I wouldn't be able to do it myself.
Sorry, one last thing. The termite armor doesn't seem to be helping you, because the dust cloud is a small radius and doesn't proc too often therefore around 20-30% of the spider's attacks were within the dust cloud and because of that the 3 variations of the 5 hit combo become 6 variations because sometimes they get slowed down and sometimes they don't. This is probably why you get hit at 8:27, because they are way slower than you expect. If you don't use the armor you can use the fire ant set bonus, which just offers a tiny bit more dmg which could add up. Again, personal preference, but I would love to hear your thoughts. Btw any chance you own a controller and would be able to give a tutorial on the fight with a controller? The reason being that accessory swapping would be really tough.
Roly poly just for Tier 3 heavy armor defense effect, this video is for every gamer to learn how to beat Infected Broodmother on "Whoa!", not just for pro gamer. So, if choose other armor will greatly increase the risk of death. Your ideas are very valuable. I'll try other armor which give me more damage in this boss fight :D
@@ianbennekom1435 One thing you may not know is that some of her five-hit combos are faster than the fastest interval of perfect block, so in Whoa mode, I think it is quite practical. Being hit because her attack speed slowed down was my mistake, which can be improved through practice.

You can try other armor on whoa, at least a 90% perfect block rate is required to win in my experience. If you don't play on Whoa mode, choose any tier 2 or tier 3 armor can easily beat Infected Broodmother.

Fight Fire with Fire. A ranged Summon Build is pretty effective. Wespoid Potion (Sticky) with Mithridatism gives you 100% Poison Resistance. Mansterious Stranger is great, he can reach her, takes aggro and does quite a lot of Stun Damage, ignore Mom Genes, the Spiderlings cant get to her. Apex Predator if you already have the Bard Bow. Moth Armor for ranged Bleed and a Salt Weapon when she lands. When she´s flying, just walk sideways in a circle and jump when she shoots the Stinger. Focus her summoned Drone, they have a lot less HP than the real so it should be dead with two Splinter Arrows.
How did the Fresh Termite Axe work against her? With Chopper decreasing her Resistance by 20% + Fire Ant Shield with Block Corrosion another 15% sounds like a lot more Damage. Blademaster Effect holds for a few Seconds, i´m thinking about taking both Mutations and swapping the Weapon each Combo. Sounds good an Paper at least....
I love blade and chopper together. One instant regens stamina, the other removes exhaustion timer. One nerfs their damage, one nerfs their armor. With toenail + fire ant shield that's another 2 debuffs
Block cancelling is the easiest way to use multiple weapons like that. Swipe once and block to cancel the rest of the animation, then swap and swipe/block cancel again until you are on your main DPS or the pattern repeats.
I swear trinket drop rates were increased since the Infected Brood update. Got the trinket first kill, gold card second kill, and another trinket on third kill. Out of 15 Mantis fights today, got 5 trinkets.

I failed my first few attempts in creative testing because I didn't dodge, but I was shocked that with player damage off, it does SO MUCH damage! Can't wait to do a real fight.
@@fuchsmichael93 Truffle Tussle not necessary. For some reason, Brood mother is only resistant to poison. Not immune. Plus, if you can survive, you hit like a little truck anyway. Health scales nicely with the damage boost. Phase 1 is normal Broodmother, Phase 2 gets harder, Phase 3 had so much damage stacks that you can easily shred her. All you need is to not die. Easier said than done, but still.

I fought it yesterday and found out the hard way that it can heal itself using the explosions from the fungus
You cannot heal yourself properly in this fight so this guy decides not to take damage lol
