I never thought this was meant to be a serious song. I mean, up until that part, this song could have easily been Simple Plan, Blink 182 or New Found Glory or whatever.
There is just something so pretty about this song, it's so sweet and pure. Quite a change from New Girl and that whole style, which i love, but this is beautiful.

If you just listen to it you wouldn't know he was singing about a dog until about half way through, so at first you just think it's a love song, then it becames a love-dog song. Kinda clever. I suppose.

From the beginning of punk it was a movement to speak freely about what you beleived in in an attempt to make a difference. it was never sterotyped to a genre of music or the type of clothes you wore it was more a mentality to express your self through music. punk will only die when you let it, and it sure as hell aint dead yet!

I know this song, the album it's on, and even the band's image was completely different (pop-rock) from what they had become known for (ska/punk/hardcore), and some Suicide Machines fans and ska/punk fans in general probably saw it as a sellout move, but I LOVE it. It's such a simple, catchy, melodic, well written song. It was a very confusing move and "wtf" era, but good and interesting nonetheless. There was nothing like it before and nothing like it after. It showed a ska/punk/hardcore band could play a different style of music. This was also a good time for me: 1999-2000; I was 14-15 years old. With the following album, they went pop-punk, and the last two were ska/punk/hardcore with slightly more emphasis on hardcore.

This was their intentional foray into a poppier sound, I would suggest you dig into their history and their other albums/songs a little more before you base judgement on a band from one song.

the drummer died in a car crash and they continued for a while with all the drum beats uploaded onto an ipod.... but obviously that didnt work too well, so they called it quits
Although this record isn't loved by the SM fan base, and understandably so, this is one of their best songs. Although it's written for a dog, I think about it when I spend time with my cat, Lean beams. 😊

Even though most fans don't love this record, they generally love this song, and rightfully so.
