When I open a packet I put all the contents into a jar with a lid. We all have empty jars on hand, from purchases of pickles, jams, mayonnaise etc. It is easier open and close a jar lid, than using toilet paper and an iron all the time.
You can probably use a not too thick piece of cloth to do this, like a handkerchief, since it is the heat from the iron making the plastic reseal itself. Somewhat better than toilet paper!
Interesting idea, but remember --' Reduce, re-use, recycle ... a piece of cloth would definitely be more cost-effective and more conservative than the toilet paper .... the toilet paper would certainly last longer.

The bugs are already in the packaging in the form of eggs. No amount of ironing will keep them out. You can either use up the product before they have time to hatch, or you can freeze it.
I have a small fast heating flat iron that i use in my sewing room that would be perfect for this. You can't always find the prefect sized container and not as easy to see the contents, and they take up more space.
I don't get it! How much do you spend on toilet paper? How much time spent going through that process, and the electricity consumed ($$$) when a clip will hold it in place.
First of all paper burns if it gets to hot and who irons these days!!! I love using a clipboard clamp. They last forever and easy to buy a pack of them. Who ever has to buy junk food and doesn't eat it has too much money to waste.
I put the one piece spring clip on the bag and THEN put it in a large canning jar if I'm worried about insects. No iron, no worrying about burning the house down. And usually after you open a bag you'll have crumbs or oil on the outside of the bag. That will attract insects. And insects can eat through plastic bags.
Very useful. Simple but I had never thought of this before. We need to stop being so consumer minded and be more creative minded. DIY is the pathway to wealth.😜
One trick that I use to keep my leftover crackers, corn chips, nuts, cat food and kitty snacks etc. fresh, is to save the leftover containers from the food that I buy. Nuts, Christmas Cookies and coffee have a plastic snap-on lid, Wal-mart Great Value pretzels come in a large transparent plastic jar with a screw-top lid, powdered drinks have a screw top lid. Both of these are quick and easy to wash out and remove the original food product's odor. As opposed to horseradish, mustard or pickle jars, which are better simply thrown in the recycle bin or trash can. Once cleaned and dried, I write the name of the new product on masking tape and tape it to the outside of the jar: "Fritos, Bonkers, Chocolate chips," etc. This container, if refilled with the same product and stored on a shelf in your pantry, may be reused indefinetly. 🙂
