It is okay for simple numbers.. but tedious for others. For e.g, 49*52 doing in base 10 will be complex. We need do another base 10 for 39*42 and again 28*32 and so on.

My method is 49*52 =2548 (40*50 (4*5=20 add 00 bcz 40 one zero 50's one zero so u get) 2000) 50* 9 (5*9= 45 add 0 bcz 50's one zero) 450 next 2* 49 =98 finally 2000+450+98 = 2548 am always using this method for my exam only mind calculating..
Take the nearest multiples of 10 common to both numbers. Find the difference and do as did in this method. Base 50 49 (-1) 52 (+2) 49 + 2= 51 x 5 = 255 _ (-1)*(+2) = -2 = 254 8
for example base 20: 22 ×29 22 +2 29 +9 31 ///// 18 here for base 20 multiply left side no.× 2 , for base 30 left side × 3 so so 31×2 ///// 18 62 ///// 18 63////18 ans 638.
