AJ STYLES This is 10 best WWE matches of 2016. Roman did have a few good matches but none of them were top 10. Maybe if this list was top 20, he would've had a match here.

Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens at Battleground is no.1 IMO. I was on the edge of my seat the whole damn time. How is it no.8 on your list????

Thought Police It mattered because when I first saw the Battleground card, I was going to expect it to be the most lackluster PPV event of the year with only the SHIELD triple threat as the mainly memorable match but it turned out to be the best PPV event. Even better than all the Big 4. Plus Zayn vs Owens was my match of the night & match of the year because of the in ring story telling, their palpable chemistry & great in ring work as a whole. That had me on the edge & made me give a standing O from my own house all the way in Singapore so yeah. No. 8 just doesn't justify the match IMO
You sound really upset, but it's not 8th out of 10 matches that happened all year. It's 8 out of at least +600 televised matches last year. Obviously they still give it a lot of respect with it even being on the list. If they were rating it on a scale of 1 to 10, I'm sure it would at least get from them 9 if not 10.

My personal favorite is still Ziggler vs MIZ. The build up, the emotion, the list of misleading reports hinting Ziggler's end, how Dolph swerved everyone with his Twitter posts, and the match itself was legendary. MIZ has done so much for the IC title, but it was his rivalry with Ziggler that made the IC title again. I would even go as far as to say it might be even of higher importance than the world championship belt at certain movements
I'm not sure if it's more important than the World Title because they're doing one hell of a run with AJ, but to me, the US title means nothing now, and I also consider the IC title to be more prestigious than the Universal, just by looking how weak the champion is (in kayfabe)
The US title could have worked with Roman but they put him in the main event. He belongs in the Mid Card. The US Title is now basically a paperweight. As for KO, he needs a clean win over Roman or he will be marked off as a weak champion. Honestly, he looked better with the IC title

DIY vs Revival at Toronto was one of the best TagTeam Matches I've ever seen in my life (outside of 90s All Japan) and I think it's ridiculous that Meltzer didn't give it the full 5 stars.

Charlotte deserved being the first woman's champ more than Sasha imo. She's one of the best wrestlers on the roster.
GreatAether531 Sasha is way better, and they had been teasing that since the 3 debuted. This was sasha's first clean shot at the title, she was the most over woman on the roster, did the best job in the match itself, and was obviously the best choice. And Charlotte only started pulling her weight starting with the Raw title match. Sasha has always been the best of the 4 horsewomen and always put in the most work. Her not winning is one of the biggest WM flops ive seen since Rusev v Cena

Aj Styles selling in the Survivor Series men's match is the one point that never gets mentioned. Count how many spots AJ takes and how he sells each one differently. It's absolutely incredible and he deserves to be talked about in the same breath as everything else.

Cena vs styles at summerslam was the match of the year
I don't think NXT is any worse recently, I just think WWE is a lot better since the split, so NXT doesn't get as much hype as it did when it was clearly much better than WWE.
when zayn was in the corner and owen shouted why wont you stay down is one of my favorite wrestling moments, that match was soo good.
Takeover Toronto was my first full ppv, I had no idea who #DIY or the revival were before the match, but I quickly grew an overwhelming want to see #DIY win, amazing show to start my new found love of WWE

Jon the Wizard Revival. It's true that their best work was with #DIY but they had a pile of other great matches this year, especially with American Alpha, while #DIY had mostly good matches.

The atmosphere during the Revival vs DIY at NXT Takeover Toronto was unreal, being there live was crazy
#DIY is the best thing that has ever happened to WWE
To me, the Cena/Styles match was #1. Because it showed that WWE was ready to change some things, such as not making their main stars into Superman. I expected this match to be the same as the two Reigns/Styles matches on previous PPVs. WWE booked Reigns to kick out of TWO Styles Clashes AND a Phenomenal Forearm DURING THE SAME MATCH. At that point, I began posting that WWE was making AJ look weak, and wondering in posts just why they had signed him. So, when I saw this match, and saw that WWE was booking it in a realistic manner...that is, having the world-wise veteran have an answer to every Cena move almost before he made them. To me, this match was Phenomenal, and as Adam states, made AJ a made man.

What are you talking about? I saw a wrestler who I had enjoyed watching throughout his career, from the beginning of TNA through NJPW, come to WWE and get buried under a man who couldn't wrestle his way out of his own way (Reigns). Now, what about that would possibly make me think they were going to put AJ over John Cena?
MIKELIN8 Summerslam. Cena's record in that PPV is awful. Reigns on the other hand would have been champion maybe even now and has already become the 1 who beat the 1 in 21-1 if not for the suspension.

DIY/Revival 2 had alot of time, and was the culmination of a great feud that started a few months prior. Sami/Shinsuke, FOR ME, lacked that buildup.
don't get me wrong, both of these matches, along with AJ/Cena, all are worthy for #1. and I personally loved all three. turned me into a fan of Nakamura.
***** While I do understand that, it was a dream match that came true and was beautiful. The reason I have it over the DIY/Revival match is because the result actually felt predictable, the belt spot didn't really came off well (Am I really supposed to think that Johnny hurts his leg by kicking a title belt to Dawson's face when he is wearing kickpads? I mean, it could have worked with the ring post but the title? Also, Dawson was bleeding a bit after that) the other thing is that Johnny immediately dropped the selling of his legs once the match ended + I'm not a fan of the double submission finish as I feel is too cliché.
While the mach is great, it's not virtually perfect as Naka/Zayn was, that's why I won't put it above it. It's still surprising how good has been wrestling this year, though

I had no exposure to Nakamura before that match. And it sold me on him. I sought out his WMX match with AJ. Dude is great.
Last year's product had ALOT of stinkers, specifically anything involving New Day or Lesnar.
But alot of feuds could have been present on this list, all were great. Off the top of my head:
Roman vs. AJ had two solid PPV bouts.
Roman vs. Rollins at MITB. Plus the Shield Triple Threat
Most of Nakamura's other matches could have made the list.
Roode vs. Tye is a sleeper hit IMO.
DIY vs. The Authors was surprisingly good.
Balor vs. Rollins had great in-ring action.
AJ vs. Jericho.
***** I'm honestly quite surprised of how overlooked was the Shield triple threat this year considering how much fans were dreaming about it some years ago. It was pretty goot
