venerated rotpriest is really fun with Zada in a token deck, if you have enough tokens, any spell that targets a creature of yours, just one shots them.
In standard back in the day I ran live wire lash with infect creatures, use pump effects and opponents spells would give themselves two poison counters. Too bad toxic doesn't work that way.
My take on Infect for Modern is the Mono Blue variant. Sure it's not super fast but it utilizes Inkmoth Nexus, Blighted Agent and Prologue to Phyresis and a bunch of utility artifacts to be sacked to Throne of Geth ex. Both Ichor and Mycosynth Wellspring as well as Flux Channeler and Saheeli Sublime Artificer to produce both chump blockers and fodder for Throne as well as a slew of proliferation spells ex. Contentious Plan,Tezzeret's Gambit as well as Karn's Bastion. It might start off slow but once the infection has taken hold completion is inevitable.
Does Tom still play? I channeled my inner Tom Ross today to win a game, which made me type him into YT search lol. I used to watch him on SCG events playing mono red, and his philosophy was, "they never have it, and it's always on top of your deck," which I taught to my wife while she was learning aggro. I quoted him in stream right before top-decking the win :D
I’m honestly not sure if he still plays. He has a very active Discord community, but I haven’t seen him in it in quite some time. I miss those SCG glory years. That was the best time for mtg.
Idk if you know about the interaction with spell skite and rotpriest. Pretty sure if you redirect a spell to spellskite it triggers rotpriest again. Don't believe you can do it as many times as you have life because the spell is already targetting spellskite at that point, but it can eek out some extra points if you can't get a swing in.

I know everyone is saying infect is effectively dead and that hammer has replaced it But I mean.... I'm SURE there's a viable list out there! Plus the suite of protection spells these days seems to wife enough for a list to pop up if the right brewer makes it😅😅

On a related note if you were willing to spend more, I think Phyrexian Crusader is actually a very good card right now.
