    I do wish Honda had sorted the dashboard in the FK8 to the amazing design of the FL5. So much information and all of it relevant and useful in the FL5, the FK8 dash was a poorly designed dog's breakfast.

      @ShaiyanHossain 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the fl5 infotainment doesnt really bother as much because its always just three in your line of sight. FK8 is worse because you need to actively look downwards to see whats on the screen. in either case you can drive the car without needing to look at the screen so its really up to you

    Amazing driving, this track is so narrow and bumpy, looks difficult.

    • @dre32pitt
      @dre32pitt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Honda messed up the damper tuning again (FK8 was bouncy in +R as well, but this is actually worse).. I know I only used +R on my FK8 a handful of times as it was pretty bouncy (over dampened) on the street. The ladies definitely don't like their tatas bouncing around like that, even if I do.. At least you can go "BMW Mode" and keep the +R throttle and a softer suspension setting.

      @@dre32pitt This new model is tuned more for Japanese tastes, which are for stiffer suspension. The old Japanese-market FD2 Civic Type R sedan had extremely stiff suspension, much stiffer than the European-market FN2 Civic Type R or North American-market FG2 or FA5 Civic Si. Supposedly it is to make the FL5 capable of handling modern track day tyres like the RE71RS or A052. 🙂
      Previously Honda had made the FK8 more compliant than the predecessor FK2 Civic Type R (probably in response to complaints of the FK2 Type R having a hard ride), which I'm not sure everyone was a fan of... Even if the FK8 still had immediate enough transient response for most people. (Obviously upping the damping rates or bushing stiffness increases the transient response rate of the vehicle, I think the latter is what Honda have done for the FL5 and maybe the former, though I think I heard that the actual spring rates of the FL5 are not too different than the FK8.)

    • @commentmancommentman1658
      @commentmancommentman1658 ปีที่แล้ว

      @tassielorenzo7070 a good stiff suspention is very different from a bouncy damper my G; honda fucked up the suspention on the FL5 Period. That bounciness is so bad it bounces more than a coilovers.

    Curious to see how Seeker/J's will tune it. Funny fact: They already used 265/275 section 18" tires on their tuned FK8s (stock they are 245 section 20") and now the serial production FL5 CTR comes with 265 section 19" tires. Lessons learned? ;)

    • @B__L

      They used 295 on the FD2

    • @armando_alves
      @armando_alves 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The FL5 is bigger, heavier and slightly more powerful. It's only logical to go with wider tires. Watch Seeker tune these with 285 or 295's even.

    • @PressurenFlames
      @PressurenFlames 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@armando_alves I am very well aware of Seeker‘s tunes (as I wrote above). But we are talking about OEM tire specs..
      From FK2 to FK8 they only went up one step in width (from 235 to 245) but now they did two (from 245 to 265). And the FL5 is only 70-80 kg heavier than the FK8.

    • @SkylineLofe
      @SkylineLofe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Seeker used 295's in the front and 265's in the rear. Not a 265 square setup.
      Additionally, Seeker runs it with around 5 degrees of camber from the looks of it at the front and maybe 3-3.5 degrees in the rear, maybe even 4.
      They also run it at 410 horsepower, but the difference to other tuning shops like J's and Spoon is that Seeker messed with how boost ramps in, so it not only allows the car to accelerate faster, but it doesn't just absolutely wheelspin. As such, muuuuuuch more grip overall and can keep up with much faster cars like the GTR's while still having a full interior

    • @arkram8733

    It is great performance cars like this FL5 Civic Type R that inspire people to become Honda fans, Porsche fans, BMW fans, Ford fans, Merc fans, and Hyundai fans. People make dedicated channels just to share and discuss cars, performance, and technology because there is passion. And with that enthusiasm they will tune in every Sunday to watch their favorite motorsports teams race with car manufacturers’ badges proudly displayed on the F1 cars, and on their driveway’s cars. That is why F1 has Honda fans, Mercedes fans, McLaren fans, and Renault fans. That is also why, Ford, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Toyota, Infiniti, and Hyundai all belong in F1. Not pathetic billionaire pet projects like Haas, Williams, and Andretti. The only reason why Stroll’s presence is tolerated is because he named his team Aston Martin. As opposed to the Latifi and Mazepin billionaire daddy clown show that both failed to buy new F1 teams for their underperforming sons.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very much agree, though personally I don't mind that Williams is owned by investment bankers now. That's better than losing the famous Williams team. There are some fascinating BBC Horizon documentaries following Williams made in 1982, 1988 and 1993 IIRC. (Williams were temporally quite set back by Honda leaving in '88, though I guess Honda were mad at Piquet not being made the clear number one driver over Mansell.)

      R+ mode is viewed as too stiff by a lot of people, making the car's bump absorption sub-par and not suitable for bumpy surfaces like in this vid and numerous other tracks. R+ would excel at circuits with smooth tarmac surfaces, touge tracks usually have very bumpy roads so a soft suspension would excel in this case.

      You can tune that in your car with an alignment (toe out in the rear or less camber in the rear) but to have a car this planted from the factory is impressive. I could also see people doing to 275 front tires 265 rear to change the balance

      Sadly that's just what the CTR sounds like I think, no glorious induction noise (NA Hondas were always louder in-car than turbo cars on Best Motoring, though the in-built GoPro microphone here isn't great). There's just the active sound module which isn't that loud. The front resonator delete like on the stock Integra Type S seems like the way to go! The Type R is made to stricter Japanese noise standards.

    There are some great things about the fl5, but I can’t help but focus on the things that aren’t that good. First of all is the bhp, now I know that power isn’t the be all and end all, and I know that a type r isn’t meant to be a straight line weapon but for Honda to only give it 10 hp more than the fk8 is a let down. I mean it’s so easy to extract extra power from modern turbo engines. Second is the gearing, not sure why they have given it a longer final drive? Then third is the infotainment screen, why couldn’t they have made it fold away or something rather than being stuck on and distracting, it’s the only thing that isn’t super clean about the interior imo.

      310hp is MORE than enough for a car like this. it will do 150+mph no problem
      they gave it a longer FD because fk8 owners were blowing through gears on shorter courses, also give it more top speed
      the inoftainment screen is also easier to see now

    • @TassieLorenzo

      OG Integra Type R? Of course! It's a lot lighter. With 300-something hp from a turbo B18, it's far superior to the new car on power-to-weight (though the CTR's power to weight is pretty good, better than many other sport compacts, cough WRX STi, Golf R). The first generation 1994-1999 WRX STi is still the fastest one, due to being the lightest, the later ones did not gain more power than the weight increased...

      @@davidferman51 Springs are fine, almost the same as the FK8. Problem is that they turned the dampers up to 11. FK8 was already slightly overdamped in +R so adding even more damping is pointless. If anything it would probably be less of a rollercoaster with stiffer springs fitted.
