I’m actually using Mandala Thunderbird to make chemo hats.. The fabric is so soft.. No splitting... and the color changes are not too abrupt.. They do fade a little..and I like that. I plan to use more of this DK weight yarn.. Thanks for the review.
I am using this in Pegasus to make a simple granny shawl and I love it, definitely be using it again, next on my list is your shawl in wizard 😀, I have used a 4.5mm hook and found it to be good to work with, had no splitting, and I love how the colours change, some change gradually and some suddenly, thank you for your yarn 101 and thank you for your continued amazing tutorials, I have made quite a few things from watching you, you helped me learn how to crochet x
I love this yarn! I have made shawls particularly the virus meets granny in colorway Sphinx and Genie. It's soft and so far no knots. I hope lion brand come with new colors for spring.
I love it so much I bought 5 cakes of it. I have 2 in unicorn, 2 in genie, and 1 in spirit. I am using 3 currently to make 2 shawls and a scarf. One of the unicorn cakes has been made into a shawl already. I hope they expand the colors
I found mine at Craftsy and am making a baby blanket using 2 cakes. I'm into my second cake and have only found 1 knot. I have the Gnome colorway and mine have abrupt color changes which I don't mind with this pattern. It is a soft lovely yarn and a joy to work with.
A note about the dye lots; LB has actually gotten really lazy about labeling dye lots, and not just with the Mandalas. If you can find a large display of their specialty yarns, you'll see that there are sometimes extreme variations of a color way (actual dye lot differences) but the labels all state the same dye lot. I hadn't previously seen the disclaimer on the label, but it doesn't "add charm" to your project when you're making a large afghan with 5-6 cakes. I got lucky and only had one or two of the seven I bought that were nearly entirely different shades from the rest. In other words, I would probably stick to one cake scarves and shawls for this yarn to avoid this frustration.
I'm working on a shawl (Secret Paths pattern with g/4.00 mm size crochet hook ) right now using this yarn in Wizard colorway & loving it! So soft & a pleasure to crochet.
It's great when it's working up, but the reality is, it's gets ratty after washing. I've knit several projects and not one of them washed well. Vannas doesn't hold up very well either anymore, when it first came out it was gorgeous and came out the washer like new every time. I don't know if they've changed suppliers or what, but it's really disappointing.
I'm trying find out how to get the start of the yarn from the ball without strewing all over the house and there are NO videos showing this. I'm specifically looking for Mandala. Help.... please.... if you can.
Walmart has it but if you are looking for a specific color way, you may need to order it online from Walmart because they don't ever have all the colors available.
I'm using it right now .Its dreadful to use. It Splits badly. I've gone down to a 4mm hook .But it feels dry ,for want of another word. I'm so disappointed. 😡
I can only handle cotton or silk and perhaps polyester but anything like acrylic or wool and or something thats not too rough coming through my fingers and cause a domino effect with my nerves. (caused my fibromyalgia)
oh WOW the more you do them the easier it gets , perhaps a little faster without mistakes :) I use to be able to crochet 20 DC in 1 minute and now its slower with my fibro issues but the good thing i still love what i am doing :)
Here's a little tip, put a band aid over your finger where the yarn slides over it. It should help reduce friction between the yarn and your finger. Hope this helps

All I needed to know was how/where to start the skein/"cake". I did not learn it. :(
Same reason I came to this video too. Bummer

I have the same issue.
What store(s) carry this? There is a colorway that looks fabulous to me.
Kerri Wolfton
Walmart carries it

The Caron Big Cakes, not the regular Caron Cakes, have 603 yards.

Μικρος Πριγκιπας about 5 dollars in the US
I made a triangle shawl with a ball. The color combinations were dreadful. I will never use any of these cakes again. Real waste of money to be honest

I wonder if it's because you're using a smaller hook. I'm on my 3rd cake and have had very little trouble. maybe you just got a bad cake?
BEAUTIFUL YOU
To bad it's acrylic:(
