Now I’m curious… what scenes from the books do you think should have been included in the movies?
Harry Potter meeting Winky during the Quidditch World Cup from the fourth book, Hermione's S.P.E.W. plan for the House elves working in the Hogwarts kitchen, Herminone Granger and Ron Weasley becoming prefects and Hermione telling Fred and George Weasley to stop giving the new students their dangerous gag snacks, Arthur Weasley scolding Fred and George Weasley for leaving Ton Tongue Toffee for Dudley Dursley, Harry Potter climbing on the Smelting school roof to get away from Dudley Dursley's gang, Vernon Dursley running into some wizards, Dobby giving Harry Potter the Gillyweed, Neville Long bottom fighting Draco Malfoy in the Quidditch stands, Arthur Weasley and Lucious Malfoy fighting in the book store in Diagonalley, etc. 🎥🎥🎬🎬🎬🎬📺📚📚📚
The Potter series is just not for me although my mother and niece get into it
If I knew of a removed scene, HOW would I know?
I've always felt some particular way about how cowardly they made Ron. Specially in the prisoner of Azkaban when shit is going down in the Shrieking Shack and Hermione says "if you want Harry you have to kill us too" That was Ron's line in the book! Even though his leg was broken he stood up to protect his friend.
Ron KEPT standing up with that broken leg too. I remember yelling at him to just sit down 😂 I love him so much. The movies did him dirty.
The movies absolutely butchered Ron's character. He was useless in the movies, annoying and an ass, in the books he was WAY more lovable. Still a bit of an ass, but so was Harry
@@chapolinm_ I agree. They were loveable asses and Hermonie, bless her heart, kept them in line as much as she could. Though I was on Ron's side about when Crookshankes "ate" Scabbers. Just say sorry and pretend to feel bad.
@@rebbjewar Yeah, it was his pet after all. Hermione was bossy as hell in the books, WAY more than in the movies (although they at, least, didnt cut her bossiness out). All three of them were more likable in the books
@chapolinm_ so much more likeable. That's why I prefer the books over movies. I love all the actors, but the directors and others could have made it better.
I will never forgive them for deleting the choir singing scene, Dudley making amends with Harry, and Draco throwing Harry his wand when he returns.
I don’t think Draco throwing Harry his wand would have been out of character at that point in the movie. Draco knows Harry could have left him to die but in spite of everything he didn’t. And it would have made sense that Dudley would have changed after his encounter with the Dementors, knowing that he would have felt how horrible he’d been to people. I get that they couldn’t put everything thing from the books into the movie but there are some things they should have left. Especially Draco throwing Harry his wand.
exactly
@@CelticStar87he ran away
@@thedislikebutton1907 Draco throwing Harry his wand wasn’t in the book. Harry still had Draco’s wand at that point. Self-preservation is a trait of Slytherins… they act all tough but when it comes to certain things they will do whatever they can to protect themselves over others. It was portrayed many times as cowardice in the movies and in the books. The only stronger pull with the Malfoys was protecting their family.
I agree
On the other hand, here’s stuff from the book that should’ve been in the movies:
- The Marauders’s backstory
- Full Quidditch world cup
- The trio reuniting with Sirius in Hogsmeade
- Mr. Crouch’s madness
- The magic obstacles in the third task's maze
- Barty Crouch Jrs backstory
- Harry giving his winnings to the Weasley twins
- Neville visiting his mother in St. Mungo
- The tragic fate of Neville's parents
- Snape’s extended flashback
- The prophecy explained
- Harry, Neville, and Luna at the Hogwart's express
- More of Lupin & Tonks and Bill & Fleur
- All of Voldemort's memories
- Harry asking Luna out
- Harry and Ginny’s real first kiss
- Dobby and Kreacher spying on Draco
- Moaning Myrtle consoling Draco in the bathroom
- Harry’s guilt over worshipping the half-blood prince
- Kreacher's tale and Regulus death
- Dumbledore’s past in Rita Skeeter’s book
- Harry obsessing over the Deathly Hallows
- Wormtail's death after showing mercy for Harry
- Ron and Hermione’s real first kiss
- Fred's death moment should've been onscreen
- The way the final battle happens in the book (with the elves, buckbeak, the giants, and centaurs) and show multiple characters fighting
- The real final showdown, with Harry's speech and Voldemort's last stand in the great hall with everyone watching
And the sene were Lucius begs Voldemort my lord my son
Hermione capturing Rita Skeeter in book 4 and the article she writes in book 5
Harry asked Luna out in the books?
@@LarryMcdowdell-mu7dd Yes, in the sixth book. He asked her to go out with him to Slughorn’s Christmas party but he did it as a last resort
@@OmarTafur75 what does she say
I do like the deleted scene at the beginning of Death Hallows part 1 where Dudley tells Harry he doesn’t think he’s a waste of space and they shake hands
Yes, it gave Dudley a moment to redeem himself, which the final product was lacking.
Really wished that scene was in... It was definitely a character developing moment, it showed so much of Dudley's personality and how much he has grown.
Added: Same with Draco screaming Potter running away from the death eaters and throwing his wand to Harry was such a MAJOR moment that should have also kept in.
@@VolaraNyghtedraco didn’t do s**t, they made it up.
Because these weren't deleted scenes this was just click bait
I agree.
i would of sat in cinemas for an extra hour of each film to watch everything they missed, deleted and removed. Tonks is my favourite character and i hated how much of her and lupins story was cut
I wish that they'd kept Luna comforting Harry, since it would have strengthed their relationship, and given Luna more screentime.
It would kill the Harry and Ginny ship.
Same with the Krum at the wedding, many would choose him than Ron😅.
@@l_m_m_Disagree about Harry and Luna, they were always only friends, never more. If anything, Luna is interested in Ron. Supercarlinbrothers made a fun video about that, there is actually some evidence to support that.
And then it would have make sense for her to be in Hogwarts when they go after.
The kitchen scenes with the House Elves & Hermione knitting clothes for them & S.P.E.W.! Also, Dobby got the Gillyweed for Harry in The Goblet of Fire NOT Neville. Dobby had far less screen time than he deserved.
Yeah. And he is the most favourite character😅 People were more sad of his death than Hedwig when watching the films
Agreed!
I literally named my cat Dobby the house cat. If I had never read the books, and was simply a fan from the movies, I would have no reason to do that! In the films, Dobby isn’t very relevant. He is a major character in the books!
@l_m_m_ my niece said she cried for days after reading of Dobby's death. Myself, I found Hedwig's death the most poignant & moving.....
Agreeedd!!! I hated they left all of that out. And then the fact that Dobby was the one to warn them in order of phoenix that umbridge found out and was coming for everyone that was apart of D.A.
The good thing about when Harry Potter is shown on tv like Freeform or SyFy, it’s always extended cuts instead of theatrical
ABC Family (Freeform) even included all 8 movies in their 25 Days of Christmas lineup.
I love them for that.
I was gonna say, that whole Luna comforting Harry scene was in the movie when I watched a few weeks ago on tv
I was watching Goblet of Fire on Peacock yesterday, and the scene with Snape running around and catching student making out was in it. The whole scene.
I can forgive a lot but leaving out the closure of Draco's redemption arc is criminal. After so many book-to-movie changes that ranged from pointless to harmful to the story, it would have been nice to see a change that actually improves the source material.
Agreed. I always wondered how Harry got a wand after he came back from the dead
I always found it bizarre that they never did extended versions for the rest of the movies. When they did it for movies 1 & 2, they restored all the deleted scenes. They could have done it for the other movies.
Excuse me what. There are extended editions of the first two movies?????
@@emmawinn6129
My DVD set has all of the deleted scenes.
Peacock has most of these deleted scenes-like Harry & Snapes first interaction + dumbledores “firery exit” and many more
@@emmawinn6129 yes, just rewatched all the movies, and 1,2 was almost 3 hours long will those extended scenes
Is on MAX @@emmawinn6129
Funny, but I have false memories of most of these scenes. Maybe it's because I read the books so much, and pictured the scenes in my head.
And Ginny's character got totally robbed in the movies! In the books, she was a strong vibrant addition to The Trio, and it makes sense for her and Harry to end up together. In the movies, she barely shows up, even in Chamber of Secrets, a story that centers around her.
Have you watched any of the extended versions of the films? Because some of there were in them, so it may not be false memories.
I think some of them are on the dvds and not streaming
I haven’t read the books and I’ve only streamed the shows and I remember some of these so they’re not false.
I remember some of these. & Neville was in a lot of these scenes in the books!
All the scenes from the first two movies are in the extended versions.
That Trelawny scene at the feast is AMAZING slapstick comedy, I wish they kept it in 😂
I wish they kept Harry calling out Ron for insulting Hermione in the movie. I mean it's not a lot, but for character building it shows that Harry was thinking that the whole time, so it would've been great to hear him actually say it. They should've also left the taboo scene in the movie. And Dumbledore saying, "I'm not worried, I'm with you." As well as when the Dursley's left. And finally the Tonks/Remus scene.
i believe it's in the extended versions? everytime i have watched the movie it was always there, even recently when i rewatched!
Snape’s lesson later saves Ron in Half-Blood Prince, when he drinks the poisoned mead and Harry administered the bezoar (the antidote mentioned by Snape)
It was the half blood princes book that said “just shove a bezoar down their throat” that saved ron in HBP no snape lesson
@spewmister but the Half-Blood Prince is Snape lol so technically...
Wow! This video made me cry!!! I cried when I read “I’m not worried, I’m with you”, and I can’t believe they filmed this beautiful moment and left out! Is so moving!! And that last one with Tonks and Lupin, tearjerker! I’m destroyed here 😭
This was interesting to watch, thank you! I will state that everyone always says "they couldn't add everything to the movies". From someone who will ONLY watch the full 4 hours versions of LOTR, I would have been even more overjoyed to have done it with all 8 HP movies. Most scenes and characters left out would have helped the viewer understand things. Such as Harry and Chang. One minute they were together the next they were not and nothing was ever explained in the movies. Great showing here again :D
That scene of Hermione and Victor reuniting could have been put into the theatrical cut
It should have been there. There’s no real explanation in the movies that gives them closure. It does both characters an injustice.
Yeah, I was disappointed that viewers only got to see Viktor Krum during the Yule ball and during the ending of the movie, when the schools left Hogwarts.
I also had a crush on the character
@@charliejoson9145 same. Stanislav is HOT!!!!
That would show Ron isn't the guy for Hermione 😊
I can't stand him with Hermione, would be good if they showed him dying.
12:12 - in fairness to Trelawney, nobody in their right mind would even try to get along with someone like Umbridge
I love that some of these scenes are included in the HBO max versions of the Harry Potter series. I just watched Goblet of Fire and saw those scenes and I was like “I don’t recall this scene, but I ain’t complaining” lol
Dobbys death in the movie had no business being that sad. The “such a beautiful place to be with friends. Dobby is happy” just extra emotional damage
I don't think that Aunt Petunia should be redeemed for her closing remarks when she was mean before Harry even came to them because if she cared anything about her sister she would have never treated her nephew that way
I agree with the no redemption for Aunt Petunia but for Dudley, the deleted scene should have been included in the final movie
There was a small part of her that loved her sister, otherwise she never would have agreed to take Harry in when he was left on their doorstep. Dumbledore said it himself, she could have sent Harry to an orphanage. She didn’t treat him the way she should have and that was also acknowledged by Dumbledore. He was the one who sent her the howler in the Order of the Phoenix reminding her of the agreement she made by taking him in. Reading the books gives way more insight into the characters than the movies. I can see giving her and Dudley both redemption, but certainly not Vern.
I never saw it as redemption but rather an opportunity to see that there is more to her than what Harry ever saw.
It took me till number 5 to realize I’ve seen all of these cause I watched the extended versions of the entire series lol
Harry and Ginny marching towards the great hall in DH2 would have given away too much. We wouldn’t have the reveal of Harry stepping forward to confront Snape.
Once scene they should have included was from DH1 where a death eater was at Hermione’s parents’ house, which had been cleared out. It would have let the audience know why she erased herself from their memories.
The minute I saw this video I immediately clicked on it. It's also too much of a coincidence that I'm now watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire! 😂
When I read the book I remember thinking "Why the Hell is Krum at the wedding?" Then I remembered that Krum and Fleur had probably become friends during the Tri-wizard Tournment.
I'm very happy to say that I've seen most of these scenes on the extended version. I think the reason they cut some of these parts was because the movies would had been too long. Im reading the book because I feel like in the books have more detail or are slightly different than the movies.
I wish that Peeves had been included in the films. Rik Mayall would have been a great addition to the cast, and his zany antics would have been hilarious to watch!
Maybe the new tv show will introduce elements of the books the movies didn’t, since there’s more time to build up the world and characters in tv than film
They did add him into the Hogwarts Legacy game at least! It’s quite funny
@@ThatGirlShelbyy they did. every time i would see him pop up i found myself following him around seeing where he would go
@@mattalan6618 Just like the present day caretaker we love to hate, Argus Filch.
One my favorite scenes in the entire series is when Fred and George decide to quit Hogwarts after rebelling against Umbridge and one of them says “Give her hell, Peeves.” And Peeves salutes in solidarity. I hope they include him and it in the show.
We need all of the movies released as extended cuts with all deleted scenes added. I would be glad to buy them all again.
Damn right
Number 3 wasn’t in the book. Other than Narcissa, nobody knew Harry was still alive until he revealed himself and saved Molly.
Also, he didn’t push himself off Hagrid’s arms. He was put down, and then hid under his cloak after Neville resumed the battle
I really wish in Deathly Hallows part 2 they had showed the house elves coming out of the kitchen to attack the Death Eaters, that we got to see all the Headmaster portraits cheer when Harry came into the office after killing Voldemort, and showing the Elder wand fixing Harry’s wand.
The filmmakers must've really disliked Ron, haven't they? I mean Krum was on the wedding but it was actually Ron dancing with Hermione. This is not a big moment, but we all know there were worse 😅 #justiceforron
11:51 Lol McGonagall was FAR more severe with Neville in the books for this mistake - banning him from Hogsmeade visits for the rest of the year & forbidding anyone to tell him any new Gryffindor passwords.
Luna comforting Harry and the farewell to the Dursleys should have been in the movies for sure.
I hate they deleted parts of Harry's first lesson w Snape. Notice when Snape accuses Harry of not paying attention... Harry is in fact writing down everything Snape says. After Snape answers his own questions he scolds the class for not taking notes 🤦♀️ the injustice and irony sets the tone for thier entire relationship the first several years.
They distorted Ron's character a bit in the movies - he was smarter in the books. I recently re-read the books and watched the movies again (my TV's broken). Many of Hermione's lines in the movies were Ron's lines in the books. Don't know why they did that!
Steve Kloves, the scripwriter is a Hermione's Fan and he made her even stronger than she should be. And Ron took a hit, becoming just the jester of the trio. The cut scene of Hermione's dance with Krum is proof of this. In the book, she dances with Ron.
Remus’ and Tonks’ relationship should have been in the movies.
i love the scene where dumbledore says “i’m with you.” because it perfectly mirrors when harry says “i’ll be with dumbledore.” to ron and hermione to get them to not worry about him.
Love the Luna and Harry scene , it shows how much luna has gone through and how strong she is. I was happily surprised to have my favorite deleted scene as the #1 pick! it gives a more depth into their relationship and actually mentions teddy! I find that scene so cute and wish it wouldn't have been cut. you can see most of these scenes if you have the Peacock streaming service, they add most of these in the movies on there
I just hope more of the book versions will be in the television series.📺✅
I can see them doing that. TV shows don’t have nearly the time constraints movies do which would give series writers better options for what to include.
@@CelticStar87 Television shows have restraints just like the movies. And what i mean by that is, they have to shove in a lot of commercials before they get back to the show and then the excitement is pretty much gone by the time the show comes to an end. Like for example: "Once Upon A Time" (aired on ABC) had a lot of restraints because of the damn commercials that they running in between the show. It would annoy the hell out of me before they finally returned to the show, with five minutes to spare and then they would end it on a cliffhanger until next Sunday night. But i will say this, i'm glad that i have the series on DVD and i can rewatch it anytime i want, without any commercials annoying the hell out of me either.
@@LovesDisneyBeast84 It's HBO, commercials won't matter in the least bit so they will more than likely be full hour episodes much like GOT. They don't have to worry about time constraints like regular TV.
They should release extended versions with as many of these scenes restored to the films as possible, just like they did with LOTR. Everyone who wants to already owns Harry Potter. This way, they could sell the films all over again.
LOVE this !
Number 2, yeah! I LOVED that moment in the book, when Dudley clumsily expressed that he realized Harry made him feel safer, he didn't want to part ways, he realized their enmity was meaningless in light of the far bigger things Harry was facing... Some familial love finally surfacing in him. It felt so devastating for the Dursleys to finally soften, finally be able to drop the unreasonable hate, at what seemed guaranteed to be their last time speaking together (at his adulthood Harry obviously is too scarred to want to spend any time with them any more, they would no longer be obligated to keep him, he'd no longer need to stay with them... In the books and probably in the movies, by my count Harry owns two houses: his parents' house in Godric's Hollow - it's still an uninhabited wreck - and Sirius Black's which he inherited in Book/Movie 5).
Actually, I just agree with this entire list.
I’m so mad. They could’ve included ALL scenes if they wanted to. And all were amazing.
"I'm not worried Harry, I'm with you." -Dumbledore
If I remember correctly, I believe this was also a line in the book.
Keep your snogging to a minimum was also in the book.
It was! I cry reading that! I can’t believe that they left such a moving and beautiful moment out the movie! I’m not worried, I’m with you is perfect!!!
Excellent review. Thank you!
The scene with Lupin and Tonks would've packed a punch, I agree. And I love the idea of Draco throwing his wand to Harry (if Rowling had given her permission) - except Harry already had a wand, did he not?
I didn't know about #18, but that made something click. I always complain to my friends about the scene where Ron and Hermione are fighting and Harry just came from somewhere, but we never learn exactly WHERE. This explains exactly where he went and what was supposed to be shown before Hermione blows up at them both. This makes a lot of sense. Harry obviously went somewhere and saw something, but it's never clear until now. Thank you for solving that mystery for me!
I've seen that scene many times when they show it on tv. Some stations will cut it out, but most of the time it's in there. What I don't get is when Harry comes back in, why is Hermione crying and yelling at them to go to bed? Is she their mother?
I thought i saw them all, but I didn't see the snape and karkaroff before! I really like it 😄 and also the ron and hermoine scene fleeing from nigini is so typically cute
The scene with Dudly family should not be deleted as they were only blood family left after he lost his Godfather.
They had him all those years no matter the reasons were. Again feeling sad for Harry. 😢
7:16 it is included in the extended version
9:49 again is included in the extended version
10:44 it is included in the extended version
12:48 included in the extended version
13:38 included in the extended version
14:33 included in the extended version
15:17 is in the extended version
I would of loved to at least see in the scene 20 years later Harry and Draco greeting or making eye contact as friendship. Also,.I would of loved to see the actor, Gary Old man live.
I also wish they’d kept in the scene with Seamus, where he says his eyebrows have grown back, but then turns around and some hair is missing from the back of his head 😂 Poor kid couldn’t stop blowing things up
Love you and this vid so much ❤❤❤❤❤
I wish they'd release the extended versions of the films that have been shown on TV on Blu Ray or digital. Goblet of Fire had some many great scenes that weren't in the theatarical version.
It´s a shame that there isn´t an Extended Edition, this would´ve been so awesome.
I badly want to see the deleted scenes of Lupin and Tonks’ relationship.
20:44 Lol Harry & Ron took their uniforms so Crabbe & Goyle should’ve had little more than their underwear on 😆
I remember when they used to air on ABC family (which is now Freeform) many of these scenes if not all of them were included in the movies. Its one of the reasons I wanted to watch them on that channel as opposed to streaming. But I still enjoy them nonetheless.
All the deleted scenes, including the cut ones of Peeves and Viktor at the wedding should've been kept in the movies
I think that they should have included the part about the Horcruxes, it's vital to the movie! And the singing parts, just more parts that needed to be in the movies
Fun fact the stone snape mentions in the deleted scene when grilling Harry, is the same stone Harry uses to save ron in the half blood prince when he gets poisoned
I’ll always tell them they made the wrong choice of deleting Draco throwing his wand to Harry, Dudley making amends to Harry, and Harry’s comeback
Thank you for calling it Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone! 😀
what i think is interesting is that some of these are still viewable as part of the full movie, if you know what version to watch. The leg-lock scene is honestly one of my favorites cuz Seamus offers to help, but Neville declines saying "That's all i need, you to set my bloody kneecaps on fire" and Seamus gets mad and says "If anyone cares to notice, my eyebrows have completely grown back"
i just love how it shows the innocent/ child- like spirit of the first movie
i didnt even know that short film existed
Came to the comments to say this! How come we’ve never heard of it??
Neither did I
For Harry Potter/Inbetweeners fans, the guy who played Fleur's Yule Ball date played Mark Donovan in the Inbetweeners!
Watch at 2:25
Thank you so much for saying Philosophers Stone and not sorcerer's
Re Snape's first question to Harry: according to Victorian Flower Language, asphodel is a lily that means "my regrets follow you to the grave," and wormwood means "absence" and symbolizes bitter sorrow. When combined, the answer means "I bitterly regret Lily's death"
Well spotted my friend.
I was not prepared for that number 1 scene!! Omg lupin is my fav character and him watching tonks running to him. I'm speechless 😭
The little "grab the tissues" was really cute 🥺
Most of these scenes are included in the Peacock versions if anyone is looking!
I will never forgive them for leaving out draco throwing the wand
I love them they should have been put
LOL For anyone confused
Peackocs Streaming all harry potter movies...
THEY INCLUDE ALL OF THESE DELTETED SCENES...Into every...single...film.
You'll feel like you're going crazy if you are used to binge watching it, It was a peasent surprise feeling like every movie
was fresh and new! They even include PETUNIAS SCENE in the final part 1 movie!
I honestly didn’t know half of these were deleted scenes, because Harry Potter airings on Freeform included most of these scenes 😂
The scene that should not have been cut was from the first movie, after the troll scene, when Ron says, "What are friends for?" That was important to cement the trio's relationship.
Some of the scenes here are in the extended versions of the Philosopher’s Stone and the Chamber of Secrets Ultimate Edition DVDs
The original first movie in the theaters had a great scene with an inch worm measuring Harry for his robes. It also showed Harry and Hermione figuring out the potions. I remember seeing the purple fire. I was so disappointed when they were missing completely from the DVD. Bring them back!
I was very disappointed they cut such important components from their quest to stop Snape from getting that stone! Really dulled it down & totally robbed Ron of his moment where he remembered how to get through the devil's snare.
OMG I am in your thumbnail! 😮😮😮 I am on the left at 2.17 - I was in the wedding scene at the Weasley wedding in Deathly Hallows Part 1 ❤❤❤
Dudley making amends is my #1.
When I was small my dad had downloaded the HP films with the deleted scenes and when I saw the films again on netflix they weren’t in there I had totally forgotten about those scenes especially the one with Malloy in the start …
Aww when Ron said "what are friends for" 🥹
The 3 vs 1 duels in the Deathly Hallows and McGonagall taking on a troll by herself def should have been put into the movies js 😁
I won't even mind if they made a 5 hour length movie of Harry Potter. I'll watch every single second of it. I don't get why they need to delete some scenes that are very significant in the storyline. Although the movies are great itself, it could've been more impactful.
The choir scene is so powerful! Why they thought they have to delet this????
Those choir singing moments are crucial and memorable
What's really annoying about the deleted scenes where Ron explains Ministry inner workings is that it further guts his part.
Snape was trying to give Harry important info without making it obvious
There is a scene in the book, The Deathly Hallows, when Ron saves Harry from the pond where the Sword of Gryffindor lay. After they got the Sword they discuss Hermione, how she missed Ron. Harry tells Ron that he loves her, that she is like a sister and that he loves her like a sister. And he reckons she feels the same way about him. It was a touching scene that I feel should have been included in the film.
Where can you watch the short mentioned in number 20?
I feel they should add the deleted scenes to all the Potter movies, like it was done in Lord of the Rings. It would take the movies to a whole new level.
These scenes are in the UK version airing on the Peacock app.
1:25 Harry Potter short film ?
I still won’t forgive the 5th Harry Potter movie for not giving us the snape calling lily a mudblood scene
Why delete the scene of anthem hogwarts in four part? Looks so funny!
Definitely agree the most missed out part was Tonks and Remus’ part❤
2:38 I miss it
Will we ever get to see footage of Rik Mayell as Peeves the Poltergeist?
So far it seems they've only released extended cuts of the first 2 movies on DVD. I wish they'd release the others with all deleted scenes added.
They should have left the hand holding scene between Harry and Ginny in the deathly Hallows part 2. Very disappointed when it was deleted. They should have kept it in the movie.
