It's not perfect to have Chris Diamantopoulos' Mickey Mouse at Disneyland California. I am more comfortable with *Bret Iwan's* Mickey Mouse at Disneyland California, while having *Chris Diamantopoulos'* Mickey Mouse at Walt Disney World Florida.

The addition of this ride at Disneyland is an insult to both The Great Movie Ride and the uniqueness of Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Naturally, yes. They had WAY more time to get things right, and learned what they could from the experience of building and running WDW's.

I might be missing something, but the only differences I noticed were the queue and a few details with the sets and layout. They’re pretty identical overall. I guess if we’re including the full queue experience in the decision, then Disneyland’s is better. If they made it so the cars went around the tornado instead of just moving by it, it would’ve a huge improvement.

I'm confused about the entire concept. So Toontown in general is supposed to be the cartoon world of Mickey and Friends, right? In this world, Mickey is also an actor who stars in films. The queue for this ride clearly establishes that the Mickey films and shorts are theatrical productions within that world, telling us that objects from the films are set pieces rather than real things. "Perfect Picnic" is one such film; the actors Mickey and Minnie are playing characters Mickey and Minnie, but within the world of Toontown, it's fiction. So when the character Goofy blows a hole in the screen, are we now moving into a DIFFERENT cartoon world? The world of the stories that the actor Mickey is presenting? It's toon-ception!
In Hollywood Studios, we're in the real world and Mickey and Friends are characters in the film we're watching. It makes a lot more sense.
I don't understand why they brought over the "step into the cartoon world through a movie theater" concept when you're already in the cartoon world. Couldn't they have just started off in the barn with the train?

  • @captainmaerd

I'm not a massive fan of this ride on either coast, but I can appreciate how they were able to shoehorn this into landlocked Disneyland without removing an existing ride. Disney World has all the land they could ever want and they still feel the need to replace attractions instead of just building new ones and adding capacity. This version's queue is a big win too!

Unironically, this might be my favorite ride queue. It’s the perfect mix of cheesy Disney and attention-to-detail Disney. I don’t think there’s ever been a ride I’ve been excited to get stuck in the queue for before, but this might be the one!
I personally have enjoyed the ride as it’s own thing since I rode it at WDW, when separated from the context of having replaced GMR and not 100% fitting into the Chinese theater. This really does it the service it deserves and is, in my opinion, the most rightful place for this ride.

Am I seeing things or did Goofy face the other way when talking to the picnic-ers at the end? And how soon will Chuuby toys be out there to buy?

I had heard a rumor that there would be an additional scene in the DL version. I don't know the Studios version well enough to know if they did add something. Any observations?

Technically this is true, but its not an action story scene. The added scene is before the "Nothing can stop us now" song when they are traveling through the tunnel

Great job filming this‼️ Can’t wait to ride and record this with my iPhone 14 Pro Max for my channel!! I’m thinking about filming this in 0.5 lens in 4k quality to get a wide view of the whole ride experience!!

I’ve waited a long time for this version of The “Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway” attraction at Disneyland. It looks cool and Mickey Mouse from Disney Animation is one of mines. I’ve waited so long in 3 years for “Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway” to open at Disneyland.

I don't remember Daisy's animatronic being a projection face... and I highly dislike it. Otherwise, this version seems overall better planned and executed than WDW's version. It feels right here... Even never having rode the Great Movie Ride, I don't feel that MMRR fits in DHS, and especially not in the Chinese theater, other than it being a movie theater based building.

  • @susie154

I think that they should keep "The Great Movie Ride" and build this ride in a new place in Hollywood Studio. That way they will celebrate Hollywood and Disney's. But i think they are getting rid of anything that's not Disney related. And Disney is not Hollywood. They are part of it not it.
