I can understand the “i can’t blame ‘em” sentiment because it is true they’re always looking for a singer with some convoluted sob story to pump the ratings up. If you’re just a good singer with a normal background, it’s not enough. Almost like you have to be a victim

I auditioned for the voice on the voice in 2016. Luke is absolutely correct about how it is. I waited for 5 hours in line. You go in groups of 10 into a room. There are 5 seats on each side and they call your name. There is a judge at the front and someone in the back on a headset. You get 30 seconds to sing what you want to sing, so you have to pick the best part of the song. They give out what are called “red cards.” If you get a red card, you move onto the next round. There are 2 additional auditions from the first one until you actually make it onto tv.

Luke is awesome and probably deserved to go through. But they are always looking for something more then the voice. No shame in that.

As someone who got called back TWICE after the initial songs in 2011 and 2012, hes absolutely right down to the last detail, he may even have been there when I was there, BUT THESE SHOWS HATE COUNTRY MUSIC, unless you’re a 10/10 model with a voice or someone already somewhat know or with clout or absolutely the best of the best, as a country artist, you don’t get through on the voice, period. Its selective bias.
They told me i would have made it through IF I SANG ROCK…….. like what the FUCK.
On American Idol, Carrie Underwood was in one of the final 3 rooms where 2 groups got released and only one group went on as the final 24. One of the voice coaches mentioned to Simon that Carrie was in one of the rooms to be released. Simon said she wasn't mature enough. They all started arguing over it and Carrie was switched with another girl that was in the released groups and Carrie went on to the final 24. The rest is history. So IMO, none of the judges are as great as they think they are. Simon is only about money.
That's what happened to Morgan Wallen. He was told he had to sing pop rock/rock. It's obvious he's country just listening to him talk. Now, look how big stars him & Luke Combs are now. Go Country!!!
These shows are owned and ran by the liberal left. Of course they hate country music.
Cupid entered the show, did a blind audition to his own double platinum song (Cupid Shuffle) and got rejected. Cupid went on the show because he wanted to distance himself from that song, but sung it anyways, and it ended up being a bad choice-unless the producers set him up-which is very reasonable to think that.

I did American Idol for shits and giggles, back in 2015 at the Ole Miss campus. I did it just to see what it was like. Same thing for the preliminary auditions there though. Thousands of people. They had 2 tables with 2 different judges, and the first 30 or so people at the front of the line had to split up into 4 groups of 4 in front of the judge tables. Once your group of 4 was up, they made you step out 1 by 1 to sing, and after all 4 sang, they told you as a group who did and didn't make it. Only 2 people that I know of made it that day. I saw so many really good people sing, get cheers from the crowd, do another song and then get told no.
They videod the american idol bus pulling up in front of the crowd at least a dozen times till everyone was cheering just right and they got the footage they wanted. It was such an awkward and unique experience. They made you also fill out a section of the paper they gave with a backstory about yourself. They handed it to an old guy behind both the judges tables once you were up, I assume he was a head producer or some form of recruiter based on how he acted and treated the judges. They were clearly going off looks and your life story for entertainment and views.
