The Austro-Hungarian Empire’s militarism in WW1 would’ve been so much more deadly if their generals and hierarchy weren’t so stupid to planning out combat schematics.
Not only generals were stupid, everyone was stealing *anything* from food to equipment. Considering already terrible condition of Austro-Hungarian army, this just adds a pile of shit onto the grave where combat effectiveness of said army was. And don't get me started on the fact that a lot of conscripts were from different regions and were unable to understand each other. Only German-speaking or Hungarian regiments were at least able to compete with Antanta armies(mostly Russian, idk about Austria-Hungary fighting on Western front except Italia). All other regiments had all sorts of problems, so they were a pushover.
The field cannons are in all maps I think... Never underestimate one, if used right you can get some kills, support your team firing at an enemy line/vehicle...
I love seeing these types of artillery pieces in games and I think it’s a shame that not only do developers not typically add them into their game itself, but when games like bf1 do they often get very little appreciation on TH-cam
Verdun Heights on the second to last and the last objectives were torment with the artillery pounding the offense. Made it so much more fun running up the hill as defence fired down. And artillery exploding just off of you. Beautiful
This.. this is what I love of FPS games. Interactive maps makes everything better, from tanks and artillery to even planes! This is so good because you don't have to rely ONLY on your rifle, but also on this! Makes everything look more realistic as well.
I always like a game with artillery, it's one of my favourite type of weapons next to precision rifles and MGs, BF1 has all. Even though a real artillery piece is pretty rare.

Battlefield 1 was one of the most amazing games I've ever played...I'm glad I played it at launch because it went downhill thereafter. Hackers etc.... Remember people from like 2 or 3 squads charging with bayonets into the bunkers...amazing.
Artillery in HLL is far cooler. Can kill way more people, fires at much longer distance, and actually requires skill to use (you have to range and mark on your own, there's no easy map that shows where you're going to hit).
I still remember when my friends are screaming at me in Discord requesting for artillery, honestly my headphones would've been broken if I didn't turned down the volume 🤣🤣🤣
Used to play in a mortar squad back then. Great times. We’d run in with the mgs and lock down objectives in operations, then when it came for the push, we’d start dropping mortars for the advance.
This really makes me wish that there was an Officer class that was pistol only but had an artillery call down much like gadgets of the other classes where you can pick the ordinance life gas, HE, single high power, scattered rounds, etc. That would be OP unless you could only have two available with long cool downs shortened by kills you make yourself without the artillery.

I find it interesting how artillery is one of the least common weapons in the game but irl it was responsible for the most casualties during ww1
Objective modes like Rush and operations have artillery barrages but it's more of a map effect than a player actually doing it

I loved how effective BF1 artillery and stationary guns could be if used right. Loved the gas mortar launchers on this map as well.

artillery can only be used on this map and seemingly in Verdun
