With every key Fejérvari grazes, taps, or slams; I can't help but feel every emotion felt in this life. Something I suppose Ravel would have appreciated from the listener when dedicating each movement to someone close to him who passed from WW1. It irks me with frustration, joy, stress, bliss, love, comfort, sadness.. you name it.
Absolutely Exquisite! The Mastery and treatment of this Ravel masterpiece is one of THE Best IMHO. Expression, intonation, nuance, phrasing…my dad, one of the world’s finest oboists, would play the first movement at home and I’d melt. Thank you for sharing this Vid.
Sometimes it's hard to capture the volume of live music through recording. Perhaps you can appreciate the sensitivity of this playing by listening for relative volume between voices.
It’s only “too loud” for all those who can’t play this piece, one of Ravel’s greatest contribution to the piano repertoire! A toccata without equal in finesse!!!
Did this pianist actually research each friend to whom these lovely pieces were dedicated? Technically excellent...needs more soul in melodic lines. Piano too bright.
I'll probably catch some crap over this but 1: I don't think that piano was magnificently tuned, and 2: I don't think the mic placement was all that good. The playing was superb.
I think he is the best
Prelude: 0:07
Fugue: 3:10
Forlane: 6:29
Rigaudon: 12:33
Menuet: 15:47
Toccata: 21:11
so well played, the toccata is gorgeous
Fand ich auch gestern Abend ganz toll gespielt, danke.

Excuse me but is your father Blaine Ellis Edlefsen?
@ yes, that is my father!
Stunning playing!
This was very well done! Thank you for documenting this recording.
Outstanding rendition. One of my favorite compositions by Ravel. 🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
Beautifully crafted left hand melodies. Very clear harmonic understanding. And beautiful to look at, too. Great achievement.
I am so glad I came right in time for the Forlane.
Excelente interpretación

I'm inspired .., I may attempt a tombeau to Russ Abbot's Cooperman (itself a tribute to Tommy Cooper)!
Fugue and Forlane- not enough pianissimos; the score is full of them, they add to the subtle, reflective, and yes mysterious qualities throughout.
looks like someone like you can do better
😂
Why so loud ?shoudn t the piece be much more délicate ? ? ?
I agree that many if his forte passages are too loud and somewhat harsh.
It sounds good loud

Yes .., No, Yes, I mean ., its not the way I play it either. No I don't play it like that at all!🥳😁🤭
