Aerisade is the word? My word, I love that! I wear midcalf skirts, usually brown or black, on a daily basis and an Aerisade would give them a nice extra layer for the winter as well as a lot of extra colour.

I’m watching this despite being from the UK myself. It’s very easy to wear plaid skirts and scarves but difficult to style the more formal kilt style skirt. I think they look great for a classy meal/evening out! I have one myself but never really gets pulled out, despite looking great.

Back in the 1980s my sisters had kilts with shoulder straps like suspenders and my female biology teacher wore a kilt. It was considered a women's fashion garment. And I lived in Haverford township! The only time I saw a man in a kilt was a piper playing at Cooperstown Elementary!

My next will be a men’s kilt, as I want those deeper pleats! :D But I love my hostess for best. It makes me feel elegant in a way few other clothing pieces do. Have several kilted skirts and (slightly longer) minis.
Recently started using my larger shawls as half wraps over pants. Reminiscent of 90’s style flannel shirts tied around waist, but way cooler and more dramatic. I’ll use a large shawl pin or tuck each side through the belt. Essentially, I’m having far too much fun lately with my tartans and tartan accessories.
Thank you for this video for the ladies! I love learning about everyone’s highland wear, but get excited whenever there’s a feature for women, as I can apply it to myself and it gets the inspiration churning.

I think a kilt with 8 yards swishes the best! Go for it! An 8 yard knee length looks amazing on a girl! Sporrans are also very useful. Just don't jump when they are full, Ouch!!!!!

Love this! Just got my second mini-kilt. Both are wonderful! I did run into someone who said, “I didn’t realize women wore kilts.” :)

My wife got a mini kilt first, and looks fabulous in it. However, she isn't entirely comfortable even though she ordered it a bit longer. She was raised to not wear skirts above the knee. Her second order is a kilted skirt. We're still waiting for that to deliver.

Ally you have your own style, like your posts and your music.
(ps, have you gotten Denver in a kilt yet?) If so would like to see a pic of you both.

My girl is short and thick. She'd look like a pin-up in a mini kilt and corset.
Now I know what to get her for her birthday lol.

Hiya I have recently been watching your vids . Here in Scotland an old method to enhance the kilty swing was to sew old time halfpenny coins into the lower hem.

My fiance has an 8? yard, Spirit of Scotland, men's great kilt. If anything, most men have been impressed when confronting her as she knows how to wear it properly, she knows her tartans, and speaks Gaelic.

My great grandfather used to go back to Kirckubright every couple of years when my sister and female cousins were in grade school. He would bring us kilts back every time.

Dont be a herd member, set your own look and style!
I have always just worn what feels right. Over time the number of pants dropped and kilts increased.
My daughter is a kilt wearer too. She likes the look, and I think she liked the way people look at her dad in public.

Never understood why folks categorise certain clothes, i.e. what should be worn, when it should be worn, why it should be worn......jeez!
Like the lady said..if a kilt fits, looks good, feels good ...... "just wear it". Worn properly, it's an incredible look for males and females of all ages. And as traditional kilts are costly, wear it as much as you like.
    Don't follow fashion...lead the fashion.

Ellie that's because you bagpipe. And for some reason there's a lot of men in bagpiping I don't know if it's just because it's traditional or what, but I know tons of women that wear plaid skirts and own kilts I probably own about 20 kilts. If you want a more balanced view of it go and check out Renaissance and medieval fairs

Actually in the Midwest women wear kilts because they're considered traditional business wear. And if you go to the more expensive shops you will find often that women's suits will be made with a tailored jacket and you can buy either a kilt type skirt or a regular one. I know you're wearing a tilt because you bag pipe but a ton of women in business and and that are professionals we're kilts because it's appropriate business wear because they're very tailored generally

Ally may be able to go into a store and see an item and think _"wow, that sweater will go great with my Royal Stewart mini-kilt"_ , but I need my clothing to be coordinated by the Garanimals tag.
... or by my wife. 🤣

I'm of the clan Mann, and I'm told the proper tartan would be the clan Gunn. Any thoughts on that?

I don’t see much in my family tartan (Houston) but I was recently told that it was ok to wear a sept tartan. Is this true?

I like that but I'm going to continue making my own because mine are more fashionable. Then if you're an entertainer I think you would get tired really quickly of just having a traditional quilt when there are so many skirt clothing patterns out there that are really adorable. That's why I mention on your website you might want to hire gunnar deatheridge he is a designer on TH-cam and you might want to check out his videos and his designs. Probably if you provide the tartan to him he can come up with something really cool for us ladies and he'll post the pattern and all you guys have to do is sell the material to us because most women sew anyway. I won't even mention the number of sewing machines that I own

Medieval and later mens fashions were colourful.
There were descriptive terms for male victims of fashion.

+USAKiltsOfficial *Thanks for the manufacturer and stylist perspectives.* Historically, men were obliged to show Clan affiliation; the pressure wasn't on women. Eight-yards, e.g. in Lovat green Tweed, can be crafted with full figures in mind. Compression leggings, such as Piper Ally favors out of necessity, are also safer for women.
