It's crazy to me that in the US we can take a 20 question test (no safety class or riding test required) to get a learners permit. Here in Asia, the beginner bikes are 125cc to 150cc. They always says you have to be an experienced driver/professional driver to be able to drive 200cc to 1000cc.
Viewing I traded it in last year after I bought a Yamaha Tracer MT 09. They’re great bikes....especially for touring....not too bad off-road. Downsides are.....they’re a bit sluggish on the road.....very top heavy and expensive to maintain....but there again, aren’t all BMW’s? 😀 Im mainly touring on road these days and at the moment, I can’t see past the Tracer. Far better all rounder. In Europe over the past few years, I’d be cruising at 75mph on the BMW, 85 was a bit much.....but on the Tracer, 95 is no problem. (On the autobahn of course) 🤣
@@Englishbikerdan Also too expensive here in the Netherlands, € 9600. In Germany it kosts just € 8000. And we are both, Holland AND Germany still in that f*cking eu...with all that differences...

Hello EBD, looking to upgrade from a smaller CC bike and I am looking at the CB650R and at the Street Triple 660 ( unrestricted ). I like both of the bikes, a lot, but from what I`be heard and read in couple of reviews is that the CB start to vibrate noticeable above 6k RPM. What bike would you recommend between the 2? Thank you for the reply and time!
Hi Dan, I’ll be getting my license in 2 months and I’ll probably test drive a few bikes before I’ll get one but the Honda is top on my list. Was thinking of the new f900r and street triple rs but they’re more expensive and maybe a lil too quick for a beginner

Great Vid Dan. Just wondering, when you turn off the HSTC and the light comes to show that it's off, but when you re-engage HSTC should the "T" light come on that's next to it? or does that only come on when the system is actually functioning?
Yep, you've got it. The HSTC light only comes on when the bike is switched on. Once it's initialised it goes out, this happens once you've started moving. The HSTC OFF light only lights up once HSTC is off.

hello! im still just learning to ride and i am in love with this bike (no small thanks to your vid). im thinking of getting it as my first one. but i have a concern about the driving assistance systems you mentioned. if i get used to them, won't that affect the way i ride and make it more difficult to adjust to other bikes that might not have them?
I doubt it since they only activate when you make a big mistake. Day to day they won't affect you. They're just there to save you if you make a mistake.
I also saw your "things I hate about CB650R video". Things you say you like about this bike in this video some of them you on that video. What changed your mind, how come you are at odds with yourself?

@@Englishbikerdan yeah, I'll rent both for a week and decide which one suits me best after that
But I have to say, that blue color on the Honda looks sooo good
Yeah both look good. Probably comes down to how many cylinders you want.
Is turn indicator use reinforced in the UK? Here in the US only about half of people use them, and I've never seen a cop pull someone over for not using them.
Here in Asia, the beginner bikes are 125cc to 150cc. They always says you have to be an experienced driver/professional driver to be able to drive 200cc to 1000cc.
We have 50cc and 125cc but those are learner class. I consider beginner class here is after passing your test as that's when the real learning begins.
Cool review.
Some of the other reviews on yt said that traction control cannot be turned off xD.
Seems that they had no idea lol.
We all make mistakes from time to time. :)
Fan from India 🥰🥰
Nice one Dan. I’m still loving my little CB for commuting. Looking forward to seeing your touring video. 👍🏴🇬🇧
Yeah I really need to pull my finger out on those! Soon!
@Heid Cam How do you like that BMW? It's the top seller here in South Africa, the On/off GS series of BMW.
Love both the looks and specs of that bike but man, $9,500 for a commuter bike? Wish I could buy one.
Price doesn't make sense in the US. Too expensive.
@@Englishbikerdan Also too expensive here in the Netherlands, € 9600. In Germany it kosts just € 8000. And we are both, Holland AND Germany still in that f*cking eu...with all that differences...
Between this bike and the CB500X, which would you recommend for a fairly new rider doing mostly commuting and weekend trips on paved countryside twisties?
Tough one as both are excellent but for varying reasons. I'd say as always, test both!
EnglishBikerDan i am thinking the same too. Undecided between the two
Seems like a nice bike but i like a more super sport bike does the CBR500R have around the same throttle response as this like it doesn’t launch you to outer space
Edit looking for a beginner bike
Watch this is gona be mine ....I need itttt
So if I were to choose between the cb300r and the cb650r if I've never ridden before which would be the better choice, would mostly be for commuting, social and occasional weekend trip
CB300r. Less curb weight. same looks. still fun.
Liked and subbed , what about cbr 650 R tho ? Im about to take the cbr i really loved it
Great video. Quick question, im 6 foot 6 (198cm) and struggling to choose a good looking bike with good performance that's not too expensive (and one that i can fit comfortably on). Im in love with the looks of this honda and i just want recommendations for beginner bikes for tall people. Do you think i would fit on that bike?
I can’t speak for the cb650, but I sat on the cbr650r, (I am 6’6 250lbs) and I was extremely comfortable on that compared to the ninja and Z 650.
I’m having trouble between the 650r and the 300r. I am also a beginner. Any help?
Can you please provide a link to your gloves? Thanks mate.
Great video. Is that a standard Honda screen on the bike or an after market? and what is it like for wind protection?
Thanks, it's an aftermarket screen from Puig. Very good for wind protection.
Hi dan, great vid!! Tomorrow the plan is to buy my first 'big bike'. As it stands im heading for a Suzuki vstrom 650. At 6'3" the height feel comfortable and over all size is manageable. Any thoughts? Positive or negative would be welcome.
Hi Adam, not ridden one myself so can't really comment. Good luck with your purchase though!
In the USA it’s $9,939 usd
Hi! Thanks for the video, what jacket are you wearing here?
Best way to go, test everything!
The desigm of bike were funtastic and its attraction for biker (especially naked/cafe racer).. would you willing too share how much cost for service and does the Valve Clearance are important (the interval VC service will be done at .xxxxx KM. From Malaysia here.
I am thorn between this or the desert sled T.T coming from a rebel 500.
Hi Dan, could you please tell us what's the windshield you've got on that beauty? Cheers!
Sure, it's called the New Generation Sport Screen from Puig.
@@Englishbikerdan OMG you actually replied! Now I've got to subscribe xD thank you so much, love your comments on the bike! Cheers from Poland!
@@DukeJohnny Yeah of course, I try to reply to all questions. Thanks bro! 👍
Nc700 is best beginner bike hands down
Great Vid Dan.
The HSTC OFF light only lights up once HSTC is off.
do you still recommend?
Check tomorrow, I review the 2024 version. :)
@@Englishbikerdan i will watch
Thank you
I'm 5.11 160lbs looking for my first bike trying to decide between this or the 300 version? I'm 29 and only rode on dirt before and have not riden in 10 or 12 years.
I'd say this. The 300 is a bit gutless.
hello! im still just learning to ride and i am in love with this bike (no small thanks to your vid). im thinking of getting it as my first one. but i have a concern about the driving assistance systems you mentioned. if i get used to them, won't that affect the way i ride and make it more difficult to adjust to other bikes that might not have them?
I doubt it since they only activate when you make a big mistake. Day to day they won't affect you. They're just there to save you if you make a mistake.
I also saw your "things I hate about CB650R video". Things you say you like about this bike in this video some of them you on that video. What changed your mind, how come you are at odds with yourself?
Hello, do you also consider CBR650R as a good beginner motorcycle too?
Yes, very similar bike to the CB650R. Basically identical mechanically.
Saw the lambo at the beginning and stopped listening and chanting "floor it, floor it floor it" to the lambo and you
Those things are so quick!
Hello, ur akrapovic the whole system is from titanium ? The pipes will not rust over time? And what's the difference with the other akrapovic for this model with the black end?
No just the muffler is titanium. The headers are stainless steel.
too high and heavy for me, got the mt03 instead. of course you get used to weight and height quickly but do i have to?
Only a question you can answer!
-thanks for the video -I'm thinking this bike or the new tracer 700
I should have a review on that soon, it looks nice!
What happened to the exhaust??
It fell off.
Nice video :)
Will you ride the new z900 aswell ?
I' m thinking about buying one of these two.
I'm curious as well. The new 2020 z900 has new modes so I wonder if that would make this bike better for beginners.
@@ItzMorphinTime22 rider modes dont make it a better beginner bike. Just think about what you're saying.
@@Ww-dl7vr Yea I am thinking about what I'm saying. When it comes to power distribution I would think rain mode on any bike would help a beginner with throttling. Each mode going forward allowing access to more throttle.
@@ItzMorphinTime22 unfortunately, no. Cbr650r is a better newbie bike.
in my opinion the z900 has a super easy and smooth handling and accelerating is easier and smoother thn on the cb650r.
