Here you will see the completed step-by-step construction of our private fence, not like everyone else. We spent over 500 working hours on this project and experienced primitive, ancient ways of working with wood. We tried to go through all the hardships of hard work with a smile and a positive mood. We hope after watching the video and you are in a positive mood.

Dunno if you've thought about this or not, but I'm sure ppl would be willing to buy the plans & materials list. Possibly a breakdown of approximate cost per square foot.
Still unsure why the boards were burned, but they definitely looked very cool.

Anyone blessed/lucky enough to have a partner willing, devoted, caring, determined, enthusiastic enough to work together ... my heart smiles on you.
You two remind me of my wife and me when we were 40+ years younger. We built and installed a swing set in the backyard. After hauling all the 2X12 lumber to the back and building the frame, a few yards of pea gravel were dumped on our driveway and my wife took load by load back in our kid's red wagon while I was at work. When we added on a family room and later on two bedrooms and a bath, we both hauled all the lumber back. We're both in our mid 70's and are not ready to slow down. There's always something to do and we do it together!

@@julesforceschannel7966 ahhh Jules, it all depends, one just should not generalise. I have been married 51 years and my hubby is an indoor person who loves to order people around. When we had our house built the three kids13, 11 and 7 carried bricks for paving, my eldest and I carried old sleepers for retaining walls as the block was on a slope. My daughter cooked dinner for us as we worked until it was dark. He just supervised. We managed, the jobs were not perfect but I planted hundreds of cutting that covered all the imperfections. When we saved enough money we employed people to do the reteining walls but the paving is still there 40 years later. So NO, not all wives are not team players it just takes two to a tango and my hubby was not a dancer 😞. My team were my beautiful kids. Therefore I just so envy this couple, not only the effect which is nothing but beauuuutiful but also the way they worked together.

The most amazing part to me is not only the sheer amount of work they accomplish together, but it is done in sandal slides and they both have all 20 of their toes.

WOW! As a skilled craftsman myself, I have to say the talent here is amazing, as is the teamwork and willingness to work hard. Super talented with the grinder, I really didn't know they were that versatile or that you could do that with them lol. The end result really showcases the level of talent, knowledge and craftsmanship. Beautiful and will last.
This was amazing! There aren't many people who could even tackle the carpentry aspect of that project let alone the machining and metal work by themselves! Kudos to you on a job well done and cultivating the skills it took to pull it all together! 🙂👍

So much time, effort, work and love has gone into this home, it's incredible. Knowing you probably live somewhere in Kyiv Oblast, i really hope it's nowhere near where the early destruction took place, it would be heartbreaking if this was damaged or worse, destroyed. I hope you wonderful hard working people and your home are safe!

Your skills are amazing. It is good to see someone with useful skills is still out there. My kids are going to college where everyone is getting "French History" or "Art History" or heaven forbid the 2 Billionionth Lawyer (I say this as a Lawyer). Yakisugi (correct term) more commonly (mistakenly) referred to as "Shou Sugi Ban" is a beautiful treatment and I did it myself for my fence just last year (using the same double sided plank method), though instead of just oiling it after burning I used a bitumen based wood preservative that had an insecticide and fungicide built in to aid the longevity and colour - the fence went a deep black and so far through this last winter is still a deep black and looks as good as the day it was put up.
I left the majority of the charring on though instead of brushing it off as I prefered the crackled look,
I expect it to last the rest of my life (at least 20+ years) and it is replacing a fence that the previous homeowner put in just 10 years ago that had already rotted and the posts snapped at the base in several places.

It's the little things that make this video great to me - like the triangular chimney trick for the shou-sugi-ban and using the story stick to predrill all of the fence bolt holes. That really makes this look killer.

No other use it gave strait out onto the lawn. Not made to last 100 years! I was 40. Now 84. Hands wont do much at all today, love watching other craftsmen do wonderful things. THANKYOU.
