@@bl0ss0mshum4n I’m 178 this morning. I’m going until August which is my 40th bday my new goal is 165. Then I am starting some weight training and I will start eating a second meal of eggs around noon after my work outs. I feel great. I used to feel tired and bloated all the time when I was eating breakfast and lunch. I’ve learned it’s much better to be a little hungry all day and feeling light and thin rather than feeling satisfied all day making me tired and bloated all day as well.
I’m a type 1 diabetic diagnosed at the age of 25. I just turned 35 and cannot lose weight like I use to be able too. This video has shed so much light on the problem! Thank you!!!
My daughter was diagnosed at age 11 after I discarded some bad advice, trusted my gut and rushed her to Children's Hospital (she was in ketoacidosis and somehow wasn't in a coma). I was absolutely appalled at what the dieticians etc were telling us and a room full of other families. "Eat whatever you want.. just take more insulin!" Not one time did they tell these children that eating healthy is important. A doctor also told my daughter she had to eat a ridiculously high amount of carbs every day. We live in a crazy world :(
@@Stephaniewashereis true! like this doctor mentioned in the beginning this topic didn’t even come up in his medical education. He happened to stumble upon this information like most of us.
Based on my observations, assuming your magnesium level is at 6 to 7mg/dL based on the RBC Mg blood test, then having your Vitamin D3 at 125ng/mL reverses the autoimmune disease that affected your pancreas. High D3 causes greater gene expressions that require more Mg as now you will have more T reg cells to modulate your immune system from attacking it self.
This video is soooo refreshing! I've been a type 1 for 41 years. Thank you for explaining the huge difference between type 1 and 2. Nobody talks about fasting for type 1. I've been doing omad for several years and it has saved my life. I also do 5 and 7 day fasts frequently. I just turn my insulin pump waaaay down. After day 2 of a 5 or 7 day fast, I ride between 88- 104 all day.
So as a type1 you have gone days without eating? How is that possible my boyfriend is a type 1 and whenever his blood sugar is low he has to literally run to drink juice or eat sugar because they told him his blood sugar being low is not healthy for type 1 and they could die due to hypoglycemia. So his stuck in this horrible loop of lows and high😢
9 months ago I was 67 and pre-diabetic, 6’/245 lbs., went on 20-4 fast everyday, run 10 miles and walk 10 miles per week. I still eat carbs but a more reasonable amount. I’m now 175 and back to a size 32. Fasting/exercise works!
Dr Josh O Mara says running does not remove visceral fat (the fat inside your organs, liver, heart, abdomen), you can be skinny, but fat on the inside. The only way to loose visceral fat effectively is thru SPRINTING, that's 15-30 seconds of sprinting a couple times a day. He showed studies of marathon runners, he himself was a runner as well, surprisingly they had a high amount of visceral fat showing in their body scans. Highly recommend his videos about visceral fat. He told the runners to stop running, just sprint.
I have lost about 35 lbs in the last 2 months and here is what I did. I went from 3 meals to 2 meals a day. I cut out almost all carbs from my life, I eat breakfast and dinner and in breakfast I eat a 2 egg omelette sometimes with cheese and sometimes without and no bread, with a cup of tea or coffee again without any sugar and a hand full of almonds sometimes. And in dinner I eat a little bit of carbs and I try not to go for seconds and thirds. I eat dinner earlier too like around 5PM to make that fasting window longer. From 230 lbs I am down to 195 lbs and have never felt better, my back pain is gone and overall I feel a lot healthier and have way more energy than before. Thank you Dr. Eric for everything that you do. God Bless
I had a similar diet (2 meals a day no carbs) until I've seen a dietitian to help me lose fat and feel better and she was so upset with me cutting carbs cause the body needs to be fueled to keep functioning. I was hesitant to reintroduce carbs but I gave it a shot and my energy levels went up so fast and I felt alive again. This was my experience with it so I'm curious to know yours
@manarhazel1715 I'm on the fence and find your comment highly interesting. Currently working back into keto, I never felt very alive on keto and felt better in some ways on carbs but need to get my weight back down
When I started intermittent fasting about a year and a half ago, I began fasting for 24 hours. In addition to the benefits of weight loss, I found the most profound difference with my mental health. I found I was able to focus better, I was more calm, and My overall sense of well-being increased significantly. Fasting is not for weight loss alone.
This is so true. I love the mental clarity that comes with fasting-incredible. There are so many non scale rewards that I experience-less pain climbing stairs at home included.
thats fucking nuts. i just can't deal with the hunger so fasting is just not for me. I tried 4 times and everytime i ended up giving up after 3 days and eating more calories and junk because i just felt so miserable during the 3 days. I dont know how you guys do it. instead im just following 3 meals but a keto-like diet (sometimes i go slightly more carbs because this is an expensive diet to maintain when you eat out) but still lost a steady 1kg/1-2 weeks and i feel mentally happier and physically better. Good for you but i just can't stand the hunger - it makes me go crazy and i absolutely cannot work when hungry.
@@CK-lt6jlit took years for me to be able to fast. I started a ketogenic diet 7 years ago and 2 years ago I was able to fast. Before the keto diet I had to eat every for hours. Night and day. Now I have two meals in winter and one meal in summer. Very happy
I started at 234 pounds… I now weigh 147. I cut all forms of sugar, I cut bread, rice, oatmeal , all carbs except veggies… I intermittent fast ( 16-8) but I ONLY EAT TWO MEALS WITHIN MY EATING WINDOW and I DO NOT SNACK BETWEEN MEALS. And I make sure BOTH MEALS are at a CALORIC DEFICIT… I also walk 4 days a week for 40 minutes. I make sure my meals are salted liberally and I drink a lot of herbal teas with a tiny bit of stevia. I also play a lot with my fasting window. Sometimes I do OMAD if I’m not hungry too. Thank you Dr. berg.
Incredible interview. I'm a type-1 who started fasting weekly for 36-hrs and have noticed my insulin sensitivity improve. I've been tempted to extend my fasting while lifting and this interview has given me the courage to try.
I started Keto after new years. I was 108kg. By mid january I was under 100kg. I am currently on 92kg. I feel great. Prolonged fasting and eating the right food is wondrous. My anxiety is completely gone. So glad I found your channel Dr Berg!!
Amazing improvements! Keep it up! Would you like to share your keto/IF success story on my website? We can help you upload your story or you can do it by yourself here: www.drberg.com/add-client-success-story Thank you!
If you hit a weight plateau like i did just keep going, eventually it will break and you will lose more if you want. The first weight loss goes fast but after that it takes almost as long to lose weight as it did to gain it :) The good news is you just have to manage your fat burning, and you can burn fat in your sleep and while sitting still. It just takes time, and there is no way to speed it up. The body only burns so much fat per hour. If you try to speed it up you will likely kick the body out of fat burning and it will drain glukose stores instead. Thats all. Have a nice day.

00:00 🏃 Dr. Ian Lake, a type 1 diabetic, fasted for 5 days and ran five marathons, aiming to demonstrate extreme ketosis and fat adaptation. 02:29 🏃♂ To ensure deep ketosis, they aimed to burn around 20,000 calories in 5 days through extensive physical activity. 05:47 🔄 Type 1 diabetics need to inject insulin, hindering fat burning; adapting to fat or ketone usage requires lowering insulin levels. 08:56 🍽 Nutritional ketosis involves reducing carbohydrates, around 30-50g per day, forcing the body to burn fat and produce ketones. 09:38 ⚖ During the experiment, participants lost almost 7 pounds of fat in 5 days, showcasing rapid weight loss under extreme ketosis. 11:42 🔄 Fasting and lowering insulin sensitivity are effective ways to transition into ketosis, with hydration and electrolyte management crucial. 14:00 🏃 Dr. Lake's personal transition to keto-adaptation involved gradually realizing the body's ability to use stored fat for energy during physical activity. 16:48 🚑 Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a severe type 1 diabetes complication; nutritional ketosis does not pose the same risk and is distinct from DKA. 18:39 ⏰ Fasting becomes easier with time; initial challenges are psychological, and subsequent fasts are more manageable with reduced hunger. 20:11 🍽 Exercise while fasting is easier when keto-adapted; the body becomes efficient in utilizing stored fat for energy during physical activity. 20:26 🏃 Fasting and exercising can go hand in hand, utilizing the body's fat stores for energy, approximately 85,000 calories, making shorter fasts feasible. 21:22 🚫 Extended fasting beyond 5 days may raise concerns about potential protein breakdown, emphasizing the need for caution and monitoring to avoid muscle mass loss. 22:30 🔄 Regular testing of ketone levels, with values typically higher during fasting or after exercise, contributes to demonstrating nutritional ketosis and the body's reliance on fat for fuel. 24:21 🏋♂ Participants in a 5-day fasted run experienced an absence of soreness and injuries, suggesting the anti-inflammatory effects of ketones may aid in sport-related recovery. 27:08 🏃♂ Overcoming the mindset of needing to fuel before physical activity is liberating, especially for individuals with type 1 diabetes, allowing spontaneity in exercise without extensive preparation. 28:46 🍝 Contrast between conventional carb-fueled sports nutrition and ketogenic approach, with keto eliminating the need for excessive carbohydrate intake, reducing digestive issues during exercise. 29:24 🥩 Current dietary preference leans towards a more carnivore-based approach, including green leafy vegetables, fish, dairy, and avoiding seed oils, sugar, and excessive carb intake. 31:23 🍷 Personal experience reflects a shift away from alcohol consumption, citing decreased tolerance and reduced significance in the overall diet compared to previous years.
I have been on the Keto diet for 3 weeks and going to the gym and walking lots. I have lost probably 7 pounds and lost most of my gut. I feel much better.
This reminds me of how David Goggins was training to become a Navy Seal and he only had about 90 days to lose about 100lbs. Lots of running and minimal eating.
I did a 7 day fast with 3 weight lifting sessions during it (heavy, over an hour each). 216.8 down to 200.6 Granted 2 days after the fast I was 207.6, but I'd wager most that 9.2 pounds loss over the fast was fat. Since then I'm down another 12 pounds and have come off anxiety/depression meds, and while not gone my psoriasis has gotten a lot better.
It's a fast-inating concept... I'm a type 1 and started experimenting with intermittent fasting about a year ago. I started with an 18 hour fast, then 36 hour a few weeks apart. 2 months later, I did a 3 day fast (that was supposed to be a 5 day), followed by a 5 day day fast 2 months after that. A month following my 5 day fast, I landed in the hospital with an obscure allergy because the urgent care doctor didn't want to give me steroids due to being a type 1. The allergy resulted in erythema multiforme, and I was unable to eat for 10 whole days due to terrible mouth ulcers, and I could only drink salt water. I was so grateful for the fasting experience leading up to that involuntary extended fast, as my body knew what to do. I lowered my insulin and was able to maintain glucose levels easily. It's time for another extended fast!
I stopped all the sugar 3 weeks ago and I’m fasting because it’s Ramadane for me . Not only I lost about 3kg already , and also I feel amazing , and no sugar craving at all . Thank you Dr berg
if i dont eat a bit of sugar i can FAST a whole day, but when i have 1 spoon of sugar in tea i starts feeling too much hungry ! becoz of sugar... so cut of sugar and stay focus
Thank you for sharing this, I was wondering about that, like shouldn't it be ok to snack once in a while? But I guess that's the point of this whole thing! 😅 I'm hoping it will help me cut down on my cravings... I tend to be an emotional/ bored eater too 😬😬
THANK YOU Dr Berg and Dr Lake!!! I am a Type 1 Diabetic who has been struggling with weight and blood sugar control for years. I’ve recently been fasting and eliminating most carbs and sugar. I also completely eliminated alcohol. I’ve lost 20 lbs in 6 weeks but could never understand why my glucose levels were still running high at times even while fasting. I now understand that it was likely the glycogen being released in my body. You’ve answered so many questions for me in this short 30 min video. Fasting and Ketosis is a whole different ball game for Type 1 Diabetics and unfortunately there is not a whole lot of information available on this subject as it pertains to Type 1’s so I really appreciate this information.
An amazing interview, Dr Berg! Loved the fact that a medical doctor was invited to share his own thoughts and experience on this topic. You're a wonderful professional 💖
@@Bigfootz2004 we all know that. Very helpful for all Type 1's who are trying day by day to live as well as we can with a very complicated disease doing a low carb keto diet. I found out from being a Type 1 diabetic that a low carb diet has lowered my insulin requirements and strangely with fewer high bood sugars I have fewer lows. This video is great thanks to both of you.

Thank You for this interview. As a Type 1 diabetic I was struggling to understand why losing my belly fat has been such a struggle even though I lift weights and have been doing HIIT style routines for the last 3 years. This has explained alot.
A completely amazing layman explanation with two doctors . Thank you both for creating this conversation for ( general knowledge entertainment). Millions of people could now have a sensible conversation with their family doctor.

Just broke into my first sustained 20/minute mile over 5 miles with a 15lbs pack weight of the season. Walking can't really be overstated on how good it is. It nukes time sure, but something about it just feels good and works well. Hoping by the end of the season I'll be able to keep the slow jogging constant so I can push to runs when needed without breaking form. Eventual goal is a marathon a day.
From an evolutionary perspective…as bipeds, walking was what we were designed for and thus our bodies are actually “primed” for walking as the most superior form of exercise. 💯 time burn but walking also gives us so much more (sunshine, mindfulness, fresh air etc) than simply its metabolic benefits.
Nice! I used to run marathons (back in my 30s) and still run sometimes--mostly to get a few sprints/cardio in once a week. As I get older, I've actually come to appreciate walks more and more. You can squeeze them in while waiting (such as waiting for one of my kids doing an organized activity) without having to wear special clothes or sweating up a storm and having to take shower. All you need are comfy shoes. I especially love a walk after dinner in the evenings.
Dr. Berg, when I first discovered you, it was from a referral from a friend who suggested that i try keto for weight loss. I watched your videos every single day and saved bideos for a personal playlist, and i listened all through the day for support. I lost 96 pounds and have kept it off for 4 years. Over the past 4 months, though, my situation has changed, and i am struggling: every day is an uphill battle. Please consider doing daily KETO bideos again. Your information and presentation are always so rich, and I appreciate you so much! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Dr Berg is an amazing educator and has helped me get on track with how to live a healthy lifestyle and feeling great mentally and physically through the Keto weight loss program, thank you Dr Berg
Had similar issues, I have IBSD. Started adding chia seeds to my tea, coffee, and making keto brownies with organic cocoa, chia seeds, walnut flour. Chia seeds are 60% fat, any carbs are fiber, the nutrient profile is perfect for keto!
Thank you Dr. Berg and Dr. Lake. My daughter is a Type 1 since she was 14 years old. A lot of people think the Type 1 & 2 are the same, very frustrating. My daughter is having a problem with her weight and lots of inflammation. I am sending this to her because I totally believe in the Ketosis diet. I also have a friend that was on the Dr. Bernstein diet and she lost over 100 pounds, total transformation.
Wow. My journey will start today after watching this video. I’m a diabetic 2 and weighed 299 lbs. wish me luck and I know I got this! I have to do this, not just for me but for my family. Thank you for this video.

I started keto 68 days ago. My weight was 88kg. Now I weigh 75Kg. Im so glad I found your channel Dr Berg. You inspired me! However now I feel fatigued. I think Im feeling like this because I'm doing dry fast during the day, but Im gonna stop dry fasting on April 10th, and Im gonna exercise when Ramadan ends, and I hope this problem goes away.
On Jan 25, 2024 I weighed a disgusting 201 lbs...the most ever in my life. Today is March 7, 2024 and I weighed 175 this morning. That's 26 lbs. in 42 days. It simply required cutting out sugar (almost entirely), intermittent fasting and moderate exercise. If a person really wants to lose weight, it absolutely can be done; it's not even that hard. Most people get more satisfaction from eating/drinking the wrong things than they do from being fit. It's that simple. If you're fat, you're getting something from it.
Exactly. I'm 5'6", and weighed 127. Pants were starting to fit too tight for my comfort. I started long-term fasting and cut all sugars, carbs, and starches from my diet. I also walk roughly 3 miles every day. I've lost 13lbs in 3 weeks. Meanwhile....my husband is approaching morbid obesity. He is 100% sedentary, binge eats daily, and is a gaming addict. He is 6'1" and I would guess he's approaching 300 lbs. He's headed down a sad, lonely road. He's been overweight since he was a child but this is the heaviest he's ever been.
@@joannemaria1531 extremely low carb and high fat diet. I cook my own meals in batches. Mostly casseroles. If I am lazy I make a super big omelette with lots of cheese etc and veggies. That is not to say I didn’t cheat. I come from India and our food is loaded with carbs. So, if you are looking to lose fat fast, low carb/keto would get you there fast. Oh and, I ate just one meal a day. My eating window was 2-4 hours tops.

@@joannemaria1531 I don't count calories. I count carbs ... as long as it is strictly 1 meal a day it is highly unlikely that you'd go over your calorie limit - whatever that might be. I try to limit carb intake to 20-30 g/day. Sometimes even less. I also don't snack or but if I have to then I snack on cheese or pork cracklings or protein (like low carb jerky)
Thank you for this interview Dr. Berg and Dr. Lake. I read the book The Obesity Code, by Dr Jason Fung, and fasted (while taking one multivitamin per day and salt, etc.) for 21 days with no negative side effects and a loss of 43 pounds. Preparing for my next longer fast right now. It works!!!
Fructose is processed by the liver, so it's built-in time-release. Couple it with fiber slowing digestion, and it doesn't spike insulin and so is fine. Additionally, eat an apple and an orange and then see if you feel like overeating garbage. You may not even feel like eating anything further at all, if you listen to your body honestly. I was 8 days into a water-only fast when my yoga studio had everyone do a 3-day fruit fast. I thought for sure I'd drop out of ketosis and it would suck. Not in the slightest. I ate as much fruit as I wanted and even got carried away baking bananas into banana chips at someone's recommendation, and never dropped out of ketosis and felt no worse. No better, but no worse. I guessed wrong and fruit was a-okay, to my surprise. I was excited to go on vacation to Australia once, and hit the beaches and surf while there. But I was fat. I ate a 3-egg omelet packed with meat and veggies each morning for breakfast, and then ate about 6-8oz of meat with two veggie (no starch or carb) sides for lunch and dinner, plus two protein shakes daily, for 7wks. I continued to exercise 6x/wk but added a 4mi run 3x/wk. In 49 days I dropped 18 lbs (muscular/athletic 6'0 196->178) and had an etched-in 8-pack for vacation. My protein shakes had too much sugar to be in ketosis solidly, so I didn't feel as good as possible during that time, but I still worked 80hr weeks and felt fine enough. I didn't know about keto yet as it was 2011 and not super popular yet, which is why I f'd up and didn't do full keto during the diet. Who cares if you don't feel perfect if it's just 7wks and then you look and feel amazing for the next 7 months? So yeah, fruit is fine, altho my intuition from self-observation is that if you're new to this stuff, just eliminate all sugar, fake sugar, or teasing sugar stuff like Stevia or La Croix even. Just hard-break your brain off sugar period for a couple months. Don't even f'ing pretend to have sugar or pretend sugar like banana pancakes covered in stevia-chocolate or whatever. Just pretend sugar doesn't exist period for two months. Do this, and you'll fix your brain while you fix your body. Guaranteed. Impossible to fail. Try it honestly for two months and tell me I'm wrong. Then reintroduce fruit and I promise you it will taste better than candy. Good luck! Ymmv, but not by much.
Dr. Berg what an interview!!! I have been a diabetic for over 40 years, And Dr Lake summarize my journey so elegnatly. I have reach similar conclusion. But now he gave the words and protocols to make these adjustments. Merci
Dr. Berg, I have a naturally high metabolism. I lose weight like most people gain weight. I'm over 50 and still weigh what I weighed in college. I don't have a lot of fat to lose but would like the idea of ketosis . Can you please do a video for us skinny people who don't want to lose weight? I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thank you so much!!
I lost 4 Stone from 1st Jan till May. I thought it would be difficult as I was a sugar addict and formerly I struggled to give it up. I am now easily within my ideal weight, the weight I was when I was 21.
Thank you so much for this video. My very first fast was pure hell! It was just over 24 hrs, a few months later I made it 48 hrs. It gets easier each time I do it. I didn’t think I could exercise because of my low energy levels, this video inspirers me to fast and start walking . I’m a fast walker normally so I will give this a try. Again, thank you Dr.
i am a type one thank you for finally explaining the ketone diet! I only take my long term, i hardly take short term. Low lectin, low ammonia, low carb is the way to go.
Same here I’m 4 mos in cheated over the holiday season. I happen 2 love cornbread stuffing & cranberry sauce so I gave in2 having some during the holidays. Apart from the weight loss i have noticeable improvements in my overall health.
Without knowing anything about Keto diet, throughout all my life, I found eating being an obstacle to exercising. This interview made me realize how this is a very natural thing to do.
Usually when I fast, it's at least 3 days. I've done several weeks before because of where I was at in life. Don't recommend it, but I look back on it fondly because I ended up feeling great and it snapped me out of whatever funk I was in.
Thank You Dr. Berg, this interview is fascinating!! Someone that is knowledgeable, and experimenting with his own body. Priceless interview, I'll be viewing this likely 10 times.
Fallen off the keto/fasting wagon badly since early February and have piled some weight back on. Need this as the motivator to get back on the wagon and burn off the excess weight and some more I hope
I fasted for 30 days about 5 years ago. I didn't feel well and wanted a change. I followed a great deal of what Dr. Berg teaches about fasting. Armed with his knowledge I was able to drop 57 lbs. in 30 days. I still wasn't hungry at 30 days. But I'd reached my goal and then some.
This is very interesting. There is much confusion to what Type 1 & Type 2 is for many of us . But this doc is breaking ground on how to better deal with it .
I have been doing 2 separate months of strict ketogenic diet last year combined with OMAD and lost about 5kg of fat each month. I went from above 80kg to below 70kg while maintaining or even gaining muscle mass and strength. Also I took blood measurements and the values in my late 20s are now much better than even when I was a skinny teenager. So fasting and keto definitely can work wonders, even if you are not obese.
Just finished a 3.6 mile hike on the third day of fasting after doing keto for over a month. This really works! Thanks Dr berg! I'm down to 235 from 265 in 6 weeks.
Thank you for recognizing the T1D's!! Usually..... crickets. My husband, 2 daughter, and 1 granddaughter are all T1D with insulin pumps, CMG's, other autoimmune disorders, AND athletes. (124 yrs worth when you add them altogether) No 2 days of insulin needs are ever the same or predictable. Their CMG apps often look like a roller-coaster. Most recently, neurological struggles ( NOT the usual diabetic feet neuropathy) seem to be a serious detriment to the first 3. A type of neurological vertigo has been added to their list. Please keep educational discussions like this coming! There is still so much to learn. Mostly, its nice to know someone out there cares & gets us.
thank you Dr. Berg for this interview! I've been a type 1 diabetic for 44 yrs and went ketovore in December and am feeling amazing now. I have complications that I'm hoping will lessen or get better with keto, but will take time. I started keto with an A1C of 8.5 and brought it down so far to 6.8, but my continuous glucose monitor has the weekly A1C at 6.0 right now, so it's still going down. My goal is below 6. This interview was so helpful for me!!! Thank you so much!!
I've talked to so many nurses and nutritionists who do not know the difference between diabetic ketoacidosis and ketosis. And one was a holistic practitioner that keeled over with a heart attack and died at age 62. She used to chastise me for going low carb. 🙄😞
7+yrs serious keto. Under 20-30 carbs.per day. Omad. Zero sugars, fake or real. Red meat,.some good pork. Non starch veggies and green leafy salads. Cream, European cheeses. A2. 100% cacoa. No fruits. Avocado. Several types of nuts, seeds. Sprouts. Olive, macadamia, mct oils. Have put weight on. Go figure. Lost endurance energy. 70%. Still... haven't come to conclusion on this diet yet.
Keto worked for me for about two weeks. Lost 14 lbs. But couldn’t lose anymore even with IF in a 6-8 hr window. All the initial bang I got from Keto has gone. And yes, I’m doing weights 3 times a week and walking 8,000-10,000 steps a day. I’ve been counting calories with an app and have lost basically 1 lb a week. It’s so difficult to take it off. I fear I could rebound at any day even if I keep doing everything suggested.
@gomifunelives6085 less than 20 hrs I wud say is not a progressive fasting as far as weight is concerned, after taking a meal if ur blood sugar is not well under 100 than there must be some hidden carbs or something u shud figure it out, It wud not work if this is happening.
Thank you Dr. Berg for giving us yet another Gem! You are truly a wealth of knowledge and saving lives! Now with that said... I watched your video on the best and worst breads to eat but you didn't critique the Keto breads. I would really love to hear your analysis on that.
I have a four hour eating window during the week (6-10pm). In morning I do about 5,000 steps, walk another 5,000 steps at work, 10,000 steps after work, eat, take a nap, resistance train or row (not always but getting better), walk another 5,000 steps, and a snack before going to bed. I find I have a tough time sleeping without that last snack (which is probably preventing me from moving off the plateau). I do Keto. I lost 160 pounds in about a 1 1/2 years but sitting at a plateau for over six months now (about 20 pounds over where I would like to be).
If you could slowly possibly move your eating window up 10am-2pm or 8am-12pm etc basically so that more hours without food before bed then add 1 day a week a 24 hour fast pick any day.. I bet that would get the weight coming off again! Good luck
@@tamfam3071 Thanks for the suggestion. It still works better for me to eat after my evening walk with my dog (so after food preparation looking at starting eating around 6-7 pm and stop eating about 10 pm). I have about 10-15 more pounds to lose. Down 164 pounds now
Dear Dr. Berg, I recently watched your interview with Dr. Ian Lake, and while I found the content fascinating, I must admit that I struggled to follow Dr. Lake's presentation style. As someone who has come to appreciate your talent for explaining complex concepts in an easily understandable way, I would greatly appreciate it if you could consider creating a recap video of your conversation with Dr. Lake. I believe this would be an excellent way to ensure that your audience can fully grasp the important information that was shared. Thank you for your consideration. Best regards, F Glads

My daughter may be type 1. She has severe austism. What were your symptoms thru your life till diagnosis? Just wondering. Thanks!

That sir is VERY VERY INSPIRING. Excellent work at 67! Im 225 and 56. Im going to do the same. Great leadership sharing. 😊
So what time eggzackly did you eat?
Can you share what you ate in 4 hr window? What did you do for hunger pangs?
Just eat meat. We don't need carbs. Congrats though, big weight loss.
I’m 230 now tryna get down
@manarhazel1715 I'm on the fence and find your comment highly interesting. Currently working back into keto, I never felt very alive on keto and felt better in some ways on carbs but need to get my weight back down
Glad to hear you're doing good despite still consuming carbs, this whole thing got me thinking that carbs are the devil 😅
Amazing, well done !

Well done.
Me too!

@@jrkastl Not necessarily. People can lose 1-2 lbs of fat per week (and more).
@@RealSerie26 The problem with Keto is it gives a false impression of rapid weight loss due to the water weight reduction. That quickly plateaus.
This reminds me of how David Goggins was training to become a Navy Seal and he only had about 90 days to lose about 100lbs. Lots of running and minimal eating.
Wtf 😂. I love that guy. But didnt recall this timeline

Ah, back to the old Willpower theory
"Nothing tastes as good as [fit] feels."
I was on keto for 6 weeks and lost 32 lbs. Went from 227 to 195.

This was a very enjoyable discussion. Thank you. Dr. Lake is a proper gentleman and i wish him and Dr. Berg all the best. 😊
It works!!!
Thank you Dr. Berg! WOW! I am really looking forward to all of the possibilities!

Thank you! This interview has solidified my theories. I’ve been doing six days fasting and 1 day refeed
The longest I’ve ever made it was 7 day … but everytime I do a long term fast I feel better .. mentally and physically ….
This was so interesting to listen to. Great interview. Thank you both.
Dr. Berg you’re amazing! Thank you and God speed!!!
Glad to be an inspiration.
I lost 4 Stone from 1st Jan till May. I thought it would be difficult as I was a sugar addict and formerly I struggled to give it up. I am now easily within my ideal weight, the weight I was when I was 21.
Thank you so much for this! As a type 1, I’ve always wanted to ask these questions. ❤
Glad to know that you liked this post!
This was informative. I am so happy I came across this today! Dr. Lake made the issues easy to understand. Thank you!
Glad you find the video informative. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for all you do! 🙏💖
My pleasure!
Happy you found it useful! Be well!
i am a type one thank you for finally explaining the ketone diet! I only take my long term, i hardly take short term. Low lectin, low ammonia, low carb is the way to go.
WHat do you take long term?
This interview was insightful , informative and inspirational! Thanks 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
This discussion was far superior to the title!

Thanks for your Support.
Immensely Helpful Information!! Just at the time I needed it! I will replay this several times plus share it with family!
I am really glad that I can help. Wishing you and your family all the best!
Why you don't recommend
Fasting can even help one’s mental state.
How do you fast that long? What kind of water intake are we talking about during this process?
@johnbagewll2321 unlimited about of water
@@imranlion1996 because I am not a doctor
Thank You Dr. Berg, this interview is fascinating!! Someone that is knowledgeable, and experimenting with his own body. Priceless interview, I'll be viewing this likely 10 times.
Very glad to be of help.
What a superb interview! Fantastic way to wake up this morning. Dr. Lake is very easy to listen to and learn from, as always, Thank You Dr. Berg.
Glad you enjoyed it!
What an interesting interview. I’d listen over again. There’s a lot to learn about insulin and fat burning 🔥
Happy you found it useful! Be well!
Great interview I’m an insulin dependent diabetic over 35 years. Just finishing my first 48 hour fast create information. Thank you.🎉
Fallen off the keto/fasting wagon badly since early February and have piled some weight back on. Need this as the motivator to get back on the wagon and burn off the excess weight and some more I hope
OMG!!!! Did Dr Berg just say “HELL?” Ahhhhhhhhhhh!
😂
this was a brilliant video, I’ve learned such great information ~thank you Dr Berg and guest Dr. Lake.
Thanks for your comment. Have a nice day!
This was such a great interview! Thank you!

Very much in line with Dr. Jason Fung.
Such an amazing topic plus so great content. Thank you so much both dr❤
Happy you found it useful! Be well!
(124 yrs worth when you add them altogether)
No 2 days of insulin needs are ever the same or predictable.
The mere THOUGHT of running a marathon, let alone FIVE, makes my back hurt just thinking about it. 😂
I've talked to so many nurses and nutritionists who do not know the difference between diabetic ketoacidosis and ketosis. And one was a holistic practitioner that keeled over with a heart attack and died at age 62. She used to chastise me for going low carb. 🙄😞
One of the best vids…he speaks regular old fashioned English.thank you!!
Happy you found it useful! Be well!
Fantastic interview! Keep up the great work, Dr Berg!
That is great! thanks so much for your message!
God bless Dr. Ian
and Dr. Berg!
I'm glad you liked this post.
7+yrs serious keto. Under 20-30 carbs.per day. Omad. Zero sugars, fake or real. Red meat,.some good pork. Non starch veggies and green leafy salads. Cream, European cheeses. A2. 100% cacoa. No fruits. Avocado. Several types of nuts, seeds. Sprouts. Olive, macadamia, mct oils. Have put weight on. Go figure. Lost endurance energy. 70%. Still... haven't come to conclusion on this diet yet.
How about ur blood sugar levels? R u suffering from any medical issues? And what is ur age? Iam really surprised...
@@gomifunelives6085 check ur waist line, may be u r putting on some muscles.

Wonderful interview!
Very glad to be of help.
Really interesting discussion. Thanks!
Most welcome!
This guy knows his stuff, such an articulate manner too.
Awesome information from Dr.Lake..
Happy you found it useful! Be well!
Thank you Dr. Berg for giving us yet another Gem! You are truly a wealth of knowledge and saving lives! Now with that said... I watched your video on the best and worst breads to eat but you didn't critique the Keto breads. I would really love to hear your analysis on that.
Interesting interview, and speaking with someone who is Type 1 makes for interesting insight.
Down 164 pounds now
Dear Dr. Berg,
I recently watched your interview with Dr.
Best regards,
F Glads
