  • Welcome to PART 3 and level 3 of this amazing series!
    As Indiana Jones would say, "It belongs in a museum," this holds true for this exceptional abandoned place! Underground, there are miles of workings that connect with many adjacent mines in the area, along with endless historical graffiti, the most elaborately timbered hoist room, ore cars, drills, windlasses, and even miner's garments. We get to explore four of the many levels in this mine, all of them extensive! This abandoned mine is truly an amazing place!
    Joining us once again on this adventure is @Zia Mountain Adventures. Together, we take our underground abandoned mine exploring experiences to another level. We have hiked several miles underground, documenting this historic place, each one of us with a different perspective. I hope you enjoy our videos, and I encourage you to check out and subscribe to ‪@ZiaMountainAdventures‬ channel as well!
    Inside this mountain holds many unexpected finds and surprises! We are doing an episode for every level that we visit, each with its own unique items of interest!
    This abandoned mine exploring video is shot and presented in 4K and HDR. I recommend for your viewing experience to watch this video with a TV, monitor, or mobile device with a 4K/HDR compatible display. It really does make a difference!

    Hi Justin, wow that old ore cart could still do it's job today, what a find. The area you came into straight after the ore cart was really pretty with all of the Sulphur and Malachite, pretty cool to see. It would have been cool to see what was on that scrap of newspaper at 12:46 as it looked like it may have had a date on it.
    I totally agree about not taking any artefacts out of old mines, although I do agree with what Frank from "Exploring abandoned mines" does as he is keeping the history of what the old miners used back in the day alive, he restores them to original condition then puts them in his museum for people to learn about how
    they used to mine and the equipment they used, it does stop a lot of what I call day tourists and kids from going into old workings and possibly getting hurt.
    A really cool adventure seeing more of this very large mine, thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤

      Thank you, Sue! That piece of newspaper was from modern times. It didn't have anything interesting, so it didn't make the cut. The artifact issue is heavily debated. Yes, there is the mentality that if you don't take it to show others, someone else will. That's something left to preference and ethics, I guess. This place is nowhere near completed when it comes to exploring it. I hope to get more of it out there soon! Thanks for watching, and commenting!

    Another enjoyable video! I was wondering how many feet you climbed up that emergency escapeway at the beginning of the video. You said at the end it was 300 to 500 feet, right? And what was the angle on that? 45°? That was a nice ore cart demonstration as well as a revealing close-up view of that tin grease can attached to the base of the cart and the wooden parts underneath. Very cool! That miners’ graffiti continues to astound and amaze. I know it would’ve been a lot more work, but it would’ve been cool if somebody was safely positioned at the bottom of that ore pass to film when you dropped in the chunk of ore. It would’ve been cool to hear it coming down and then see it fall out at the bottom. But, like I said, that takes a lot more work to coordinate something like that. Interesting seeing the “No Denim“ sign. Unbelievable. Why would a denim-hunter put up a sign like that? Almost seems like it’s a decoy to deter others from going down there where there, indeed, might be a stash of denim. Probably not, though…. By the way, the word “denim” is “mined” spelled backwards.

      @@joshm9750 I’ve had several people tell me over the years that my TH-cam channel somehow affected them in a way that was positive. That’s cool that you became an actual hard rock miner! Certainly is a much safer occupation nowadays than it was back in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

      Thank you, Frank! The first set of ladders in part 2 were about 100 feet on a 45° angle. Kinda like walking on stairs. This set at the beginning of the video is roughly 250, 275 feet, breaking 45° to 50°, maybe more in some sections towards the top. This manway actually bypasses the next level above, where I started climbing the ladder in this video. That's why it is much longer than the first. Kenny stayed on the haulage level, and that would have been an awesome idea. We had radios, but they were no use once we were out of line of sight inside this one. That "No Denim" graffiti is most likely referring to those coveralls revealed in part 1. I'm fairly certain that manway to the left of the graffiti leads down to that area. I'm also fairly certain on who wrote that as well (these guys have been a hot topic for us lately). I love the anagram!

    i wonder if the miners thought their camp could potentially be attacked by poncho villa. sounds like word spread quickly of the attack on Columbus
    also at 10:52 you can definitely tell that electrical equipment is relatively modern. my guess is 80s-90s or even newer. when did that mine get shut down?

    • @ABANDONED_UNDERGROUND
      @ABANDONED_UNDERGROUND  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Not sure what is worse people taking things out of mines or people dropping big rocks down wrecking structure?

    • @ABANDONED_UNDERGROUND
      @ABANDONED_UNDERGROUND  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Taking things out, hands down. Unmaintained structure will eventually become wrecked no matter how you look at it by means of weather, ground movement, water, rot, etc. I know comments in text form have missing context such as tone, but if you are referring to me dropping a piece of ore down an ore pass, how would that wreck structure when that pass was designed for tons of material to be dropped into it? Dropping items down manways where ladders suffer is one thing, but a chute or pass? We did go to the bottom of the ore pass. The only thing we found was the piece of ore that was dropped.

      @@ABANDONED_UNDERGROUND My mistake looked like you dropped it right on top of airlines? going down, rubber vs rock lead which one takes the most damage, unless you never turn the air on again, why if that's an ore pass is there rubber lines and pipe lines going down it?

    • @ABANDONED_UNDERGROUND
      @ABANDONED_UNDERGROUND  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@diggindiggenit6540 no worries. I do my best to handle issues brought up with diplomacy. That indeed is/was an ore pass. That polyvinyl chloride tube was ran through the pass, suspended on the right upper corner of it. The only section (that I saw) that was in contact with the bottom chute boards was where it transitioned from that chute, across the rails, to the upper chute. I did attempt to ascend through this chute, as other explorers placed 2 small, busted ladders inside the bottom of it. It is a near-impossible climb because it's a steep ore pass. That industrial poly tube is pretty robust, but that point doesn't really matter in this case, as they were severed by the bottom end of the chute. If you look closely, there are many minor scratches on them from material being dropped from there.

      Well, fun fact- we did find some old Levi's in an abandoned mine (probably not worth $100k) and left them behind only to go back later to find that particular mine had been ravaged by artifact hunters. In hindsight, maybe the decision would have been different, but I know of an individual who was visited by a land management agency to search his home and reclaim artifacts only to be put back where they were found! No joke.
