    Once you have the cover off, measure the location of the water flow-time adjustment screw and mark that location on the cover. Drill a hole at that location large enough for your screw driver to fit through. Then after you've finished, if it needs adjustment again, you won't have to take the whole ice maker out just to adjust the water fill time. You can cover the hole with a good quality tape or a small rubber plug if you want to.

    Thank you! I have been looking at MANY videos on how to adjust the water level to increase or decrease the ice cube size as mine were too small and all videos showed the screw on the front of the module but mine wasn't there and you explained it well! 2:28 on this video showed it.

    After several tests, everything indicated that the icemaker had no problems, but it still did not work correctly.
    I bought another icemaker and installed it successfully.
    I disarmed the failed icemaker and discovered that a gear that transmits the force of the motor to the control rotor was worn.
    Natural after working for more than 25 years.

    Note... you can't jump the start with the power off, which was step 1 in the video at 1:05.
    Might help you know that with an ohm meter... Test points N-V is water valve and should read between 100 and 350 ohms. Test points L-N is the timer should read 4400 ohms. L-H is the tray heater and should read between 50 and 100 ohms. T-L is the tray thermostat and should read open with no ice and 0 with ice in the tray.
    Mine was frozen up from condensation after a 20 min power outage. It would not advance after shorting the T-H. I flipped the breaker off and held the ice door open for 4 mins, tapping the module lightly with a screwdriver handle, it now works.

    Thanks for the video. I didn't actually use the shorting/jump start method - but the info helped me identify a problem. I pulled the control module out and found that the contact on the trace for the "L" hole (where it pushes onto the stud in the unit) was burnt. Some of the copper (brass?) tabs were actually gone as well. I cleaned the trace and the stud on the maker and put it back together. Water immediately flowed into the icemaker. Not sure how long it will last though.
    Now the decision is whether to buy just the control module or an entire new unit.
    Thanks again.

    I did the jumper test and the wheel did not turn. I was ready to get a new icemaker but i still was not convinced. I unscrewed to module and checked behind. The motor and gear all looked good but it may be the mechanism that turns the shaft was jammed..thus caysing the clicking sound. I gave it a few spins and reattached it. Works perfectly..saved $200.

    If the icemaker is making noise like it is trying to release the ice cubes, but they are stuck, it is probably a problem with the heating element. I took the control module off of the front of the ice maker, and found the pin of one end of the heating element was very dirty, and the contact where the pin mates with the control module were arced and dirty also. After I cleaned the pin and the contacts with some sandpaper the ice maker worked fine. I would recommend the contacts and the pins be checked at the first sign that the heater is not working properly. Due to the arcing the contacts on mine were damaged and even though I got it working again, i needed to order a new ice maker.

      Thanks for watching my video and your very helpful comments! I have found that if you raise the stop bar before the ice cubes are ejected, they will freeze in place and then you will need a hair dryer to loosen them and start a new cycle. • @theresabg
    @theresabg 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I replaced my control panel. Now the icemaker does not work (although the frig is working just fine). All the advice says to turn off the icemaker and unplug the frig for 5 minutes so the icemaker can reset.
    My model is similar to what you are showing. There is no on/off switch on my icemaker. I popped the cover and what I am seeing is similar to what you are showing -- with the dial etc.
    Where is the simple on/off switch so I can reset the unit before I have to try other things. Thanks!

    • @Lsailor169699
      @Lsailor169699  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching my video! There is no on/off switch and that is why it recommends turning the frig off for 5 minutes. Since that isn't working, at 2:05 in my vid, try seeing if the motor works. You could also try seeing if the icemaker plug is secure in the fridge Under the icemaker. If the motor still doesn't work, the icemaker isn't getting juice and is suspect. You may like my other videos. Just type Lsailor1 in the TH-cam search bar. Like them? Subscribe for the latest! I replaced the module and the optic sensor for the door and still no ice... I tried jumping both places you suggest and neither did anything with either the original module or the new replacement one I bought off Amazon. My water line is clear and everything looks fine, just no ice. Any other thoughts?

    • @Lsailor169699
      @Lsailor169699  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching my video Melissa! It sounds like you don't have power to the unit. Take the whole thing off and get a volt/ohm meter and check for 120 volts coming from the hook up point. If no voltage, you will have to follow the wires to where they hook up further down. You can also check with the unit in place (I don't prefer this method). Alabama here too.
    So you had to cross the fill valve out every time to get water, or is there a fix for that icemaker?
    I have one now that I think the valve might be bad. Only ohms out at around 228 ohms.
    That being said, the water solonoid for the water dispenser only read 346 but still dispenses water.
    Is 500 to 1500 ohms normal reading for water inlet valves?
    Until recently, I always thought they were good if they only showed any continuity.

    I jumped the T/H holes, and saw the motor turning -- great. Immediately tried sliding the unit back in, but when I hit the black hose, water started pouring out. I quickly unplugged it, but now after I've plugged it back in, the T/H jump no longer works. Is there anything I need to do to recycle this?
