Lichen love. My first memory of lichen was from 60ish years ago. My dad had a basement-sized model train world. He used lichen for trees (spray painted, I'm afraid). I now live surrounded by woods, here in New York State, and love all the lichens and mosses and various fungi that adorn the rocks and fallen trees. Thank you for your deep and lovely podcast, Katie, and your art and creative work. You help me on my own long and winding road.
Lovely, wonderful episode. You are blooming more and more every time dear Katie. One can tell you are following your heart and doing what you love. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I am always looking forward to your Podcasts. Your calm voice and pleasant surroundings, the changes in scenes with the walks alternating with projects and book intros are so lovely. I am so happy to be on the Seer KAL together with you and the others. It gives me a sense of having lot`s of girlfriends all over the world. I do not have a lot of girlfriends and never had as a child either. Now, thanks to TH-cam and social media, I found my very own flock of friends. Enjoying my tea and knitting and listening and watching you is a bliss to me. Oh, and I adore the new pattern you are working on. The Lichen pattern and the colours are awesome! Love the sewing projects too. I am a certified seemstress (amongst other ocuations, haha) and I sew a lot in my little studio "Wilhelmine Wiesenkraut". This label of mine is derived from the titel of my first childrens book written. I also write poetry and novels. :-) Huggs, Christina, coming to you from the beautiful Schurwald Forest, Germany.
Thank you, you answered a question i had about fabric. Should i use quilting cotton for a project i am doing? Yes! Your blouse is lovely! I look forward to your podcasts. Thank you again......
I’m a bit behind watching your videos. It’s been such an unsettling time and I can’t seem to find my new rhythm. But watching the intro and seeing the trail you were walking on was so beautiful. It reminded me that it might be as simple as a single step forward. Thank you.
I’ve been so thankful for your podcast over the last few weeks. I’ve started from the beginning and it’s lovely to get to know you and I really enjoyed the walks you take us on too. 🥰
I always look forward to your podcasts that give me an island of time in harmony and creativity I love your furry friend Jack. I too have the privilege of sharing my time and my walks in the woods with my sweet furry Rocco
🤗Always enjoy your podcast Katie, thank you for sharing. Of course love seeing Jack as well, loved seeing him run! Your knitted and sewn creations are so pretty - great job.
Thank you Katie I loved your episode and your sewing . I also love sewing shirts and tunics . I found that I cut 3 shirts out at once stacking the fabric and then chain piecing them together doing each step 3 times as I go on each shirt, I then get three finished shirts at once in different fabrics .I also use quilts fabric with contrast cuffs and collars. a great time saver. look forward to your new publicaion can't wait for the licken pattern release
The views across glorious Dartmoor are simply stunning! I love your podcasts Katie and your content is always so interesting! I love your dinosaur shirt and I can’t wait for your lichen sock pattern (a cardigan to cut would freak me out!) Jack is just adorable - the way he waits for his treat is just lovely!
I grew up in Devon ( Dawlish) but have lived abroad for over twenty years, first in Canada and now in Austria and love your videos of Dartmoor which is a place I spent so much of my life and still for me ( someone who has lived in Beautiful British Columbia and now beautiful Austria) one of the most beautiful and special places on Earth. Devon is such an amazing county as there is so much diversity of landscape all accessible within an hour or so’s drive. My sister used to live near Bishops Nympton which was a gorgeous place so different from Dawlish.
Hello Katie, I love watching your podcast, you are so creative and such an inspiration 😘. Thank you ver much. And what a surprise at the end when you showed the book about Luna. Since three months we have a rescue-cat called Luna. She was found only weighing 1,5 kilos and about 1 year old. We have had cats before but she is so special! Love Monique.
You are just awesome! I so look forward to your podcasts. In fact I start looking for it everyday for for a week or so before knowing one is due to come out. Thank you
Hello Katie! Good to see you and Jack. Your corduroy jumper is nice! It inspires me to consider making one myself. I admire your making/knitting of the hooded cabled cloak from the Ninja Chickens pattern. It will be glorious to wear when done. I will look forward to your lichen cardigan pattern. Thanks for your podcast and the little book you recommended! Tail wags to all.
Thank you for a great episode! I have recently discovered your podcast and joined you for a knit night for the last month watching an episode a night. It was difficult not to go on to the next one! 😊 I am all caught up now and will be anxiously awaiting your next episode. Thank you for your honesty, calm and generosity. I have been inspired to do some added detail to my knitting journal. Seeing you draw and hearing you chat about the process is wonderful. Thank you! L
I’ve got really behind with your podcasts and haven’t watched one for a while, I’m on September and it’s July now! I so enjoyed this episode and your openness about your self care/work balance. It was refreshing to hear and dear to my heart as I endeavour to maintain it against an invading workload. Thank you for making all episodes interesting and beautiful watching experiences.
I am in the middle of sewing that same pattern for my daughter. How lovely! The lichen cardi looks fabulous. Perhaps I will give it a go when the pattern is out. I also have a good relax watching your podcast.
When you're walking in Dartmoor with Jack sometimes the music has this little "dittle lee dee" tappity tap melody that almost matched jack's little jerky prances and it makes my heart flutter.
Very nice sewing projects, as well as knitting. Have had success with some very nice quality quilting cottons and quilting flannels, 100% cotton, good thread count, from quilt shops. It's not easy to find good quality fabric stores in the Midwest USA.
Glad to see you pop up on my incoming podcast. Lovely session as always. The moors looked beautiful. The lichen colors are spot on. The Bean cover is marvelous. Jack looks so cute in the last shot, he has become a camera piggy.
Ha where were you when I was a kid growing up! We would have got on so well! Green is also my favourite colour! And dinosaurs are the best! Never too old for dinosaurs! I have many sets of dinosaur pants and sports bras that I made :D Your shirt is roarsome! hehe!
Always lovely! Jack seems so much more relaxed sitting with you in the Studio now! And I am always inspired by your choice of green yarns. Thank you for another podcast.
I've been using a clip in progress keeper for the jumper I've been knitting my husband. I usually only use them on projects that I feel as if they're taking forever, it keeps me motivated, but the dangly thing annoys me. I'm using one on his jumper to keep track of when to cross the cable, it's every 7th row and on dark yarn, so it's sometimes hard to find where the last cross was. I hate using a row counter and always manage to lose a piece of paper! I've been binge watching your videos the last few days to keep my mind busy while I'm stuck in bed with a spinal issue. Thanks for the walks on Dartmoor, I almost feel I'm walking with you
I'm sure you've already thought of this, or it's been suggested before, but I would love a guide to all the walks we see you doing with Jack on Dartmoor, along with some of your lovely illustrations. I always wonder exactly where you're walking!
I just found you and your channel and so enjoyed it! I look forward to getting to know you further. I've got some lichen dye that's been hiding away for awhile and this made me think I ought to pull it out soon and try for some pinks and purples. February seems like a good month for that.
Thank you! And close....I was going to go navy but they just looked like pyjamas. The ones I've chosen are imitation tortoiseshell, so a bit orangely brown. I love how the right buttons are often an unexpected choice.
Thank you for a lovely episode as usual. I love the looks of the lichen cardigan. 😍 What thickness yarn is the Jacob yarn your using? Can’t wait until the pattern is finished. 😀 Kind regards Maria
Today’s smile comes from the sheer amazement at anyone who can translate the unique “freestyle” form of lichen into a quite lovely knitted repeating graphic! Jack is obviously becoming much more comfortable in front of the camera 😉
Firstly, your walk this episode really reminds me of Cold Fell in Cumbria! And I'm wondering what stinky thing Jack was rolling in 🤣 Secondly, granny toddler is exactly the style I like and have been searching for a name for. I'll definitely be using that hashtag on Instagram in the future 😁
Haha actually the reason I just let him roll is because his aim is really poor! It was fox poo, but he missed by at least 30cm. And welcome to the Granny Toddler club! 😁
What a lovely and talented young women you are Katie : ) Love your "jumper" (that's what we call that style of dress in America) Wouldn't a blouse made out of the Liberty fabric look nice with it!? Maybe 3 quarter length sleeve if you don't have enough for long sleeves : ) Just a thought. . . .
Hi, Katie. Jack is so adorable:) I really enjoy your podcasts. Thank you for your videos. I know you have mentioned a few times that you are not comfortable in front of the camera, but I think you do very well with your camera time. I wish I did as well. I have a podcast too, but not nearly as successful as yours. I think because I am so uncomfortable in front of the camera. I am really happy to have someone like you to watch, because I need all the inspiration I can get:)
Hi! I just want to say that your Patreon-link doesn't work. I think it is because you've written .co instead of .com? I did find you by googling Patreon and searching you up there, though. ☺☺

Lovely peaceful podcast, like your dressmaking skills and the shawl you are wearing. Could I ask where the location of your walk is. We like Dartmoor, and would like to walk the particular bit, a good hard surface with fantastic views. Thank you.
I just have to know - where does the road you and Jack walked on in this episode lead to? Seems like you could walk for ever on a dirt road and go nowhere.
Thank you for the lovely visit and walk with Jack. I appreciate your thoughtful, caring approach and the wonderful things you are making.

Lovely Katie. Thank you xx
Thank you so much for your wonderful podcast I really enjoyed it. I admire your sewing skills 🌸 👍. Love to Jack 😍
Hi Katey & Jack I like your videos at the start. That's how much I like watching your podcast. I'm never disappointed I'm always wanting more content.
Thank you so much for another thoroughly enjoyable podcast.
Love seeing Dartmoor, used to spend lots of holidays there as a child. Fab dress and shirt, your projects are always inspiring xx
Thank you for such a lovely podcast, informative, entertaining and very relaxing to watch

Love the last shot with Jack in your arms. Such a love.
Beautiful podcast as always. You bring me such peace when I watch your podcast. Not sure however if I love you or Jack more❤️
Love. Love Love. The dress and shirt.
Brilliant....you taught me how to use my progress keepers🤗🤗
How did we not know?!!
I'm sure you've already thought of this, or it's been suggested before, but I would love a guide to all the walks we see you doing with Jack on Dartmoor, along with some of your lovely illustrations. I always wonder exactly where you're walking!
Your dress making is beautiful... Especially the Liberty finish x

I so appreciate your thoughtfulness about tools. Might you do an episode where you present/describe your knitting needles?
I could talk about that next time, certainly :)
@@KatieGreenBean Thank you. also, thanks for mention of Textile Garden where I found a delightful array of shank buttons for baby sweaters.
Your sewing projects are all so fun, I love the red corduroy! Might the dinosaur shirt have red buttons...?
Thank you! And close....I was going to go navy but they just looked like pyjamas. The ones I've chosen are imitation tortoiseshell, so a bit orangely brown. I love how the right buttons are often an unexpected choice.
Did you see Jack's face etched in the road marker? It's at 55:19 centerly located and to the viewer's right.
Lovely episode ❤️
Beautiful walks and lovely makes. Jack as always is adorable. What are the standing rocks on your walk? Thank you.
Thank you for a lovely episode as usual. I love the looks of the lichen cardigan. 😍 What thickness yarn is the Jacob yarn your using? Can’t wait until the pattern is finished. 😀 Kind regards Maria
How do you film when walking? Do you have a camera person?
Beautiful! What is the little horse? Is it wild?
