You have many more of us agreeing with you about no fitting at the waist!

Once I started wearing overalls (dungarees in UK?) at work I never looked back. Especially in summer, anything clinging to my waist feels miserable.

Your lovely rubberstamp sheep has become a popular mascot in my English classroom. It's on worksheets and class tests to wish the students luck. And early finishers enjoy colouring in her jumper. We christened her Katie of course ❤

Knitting with your hand spun. is a terrific idea. I didn't realize you hadn't done that. I started with spinning and then learned to knit so I could use my yarn. My experience with commercial yarn was limited. I was shock to find that when I did use some "store bought" yarn it felt like it wasn't alive!? I've since adjusted to using both at times, but it's hard to explain the energy that lives in hand spun that just isn't there in commercial yarn. I think you have to feel it. I hope you enjoy this new endeavor. At the same time keep in mind that
what ever you do is fine, and if your not having fun you can do something else. Life's a 100 mile walk and your in charge.

Thank you Katie for this lovely episode! You never knitted with your self spun yet? That amazes me. I started spinning about 3 weeks ago, and the first thing I did with the first 50 grams of spun and plied yarn was to knit a swatch, which naturally looks absolutely horrible with thick parts for a European size 7 needle and thin bits I could have knitted with a 2,5. But it was fun!
I hope your project turns out real nice - hugs from Germany!

Thanks for sharing all your sheep sketches...so interesting!! I want one of each as a pin! They're all so cute! I think my favorite is the "armchair" sheep or the one knitting while sitting on a ball of wool!

Yes! How about a two- or three-pin set to wear? I'd be up for that....well, or a pin of Jack, since I love and raise Terriers!

Thank you for another great video. With regards to the wool winding, a friend made me a nostepinne from wood. I learnt to use it and didn’t realise how pleasurable wool winding could be. So much so, that I searched my stash of skeins to find more to wind! The nostepinne allows you to pull the yarn from the centre. With your waterproof trousers, I would choose comfort over everything else.

What a brilliant idea to alter your waterproof trousers! I hate the elasticated waistband on mine too! Looking forward to your hiking adventure! Knitting with your hand spun must be really lovely. I am at the start of my hand spinning attempts and I have a very long way to go yet! Please give Jack an extra cuddle now the weather has cooled down!

I as a crocheter have restarted many an item. I restart cardigans to get them just right. I have learned to go by the basis of the pattern and adjust to fit me. It can be frustrating but it is rewarding when it works in the end. Your shawl will be fabulous!
I get loosing the spark for something. I wonder if we all have that once in a while? I lost the spark for quilting. I taught and led a group for 22 years until covid. I got cancer in that time and found most of the women who I counted as friends abandoned me. The C word is frightening to many. It left me feeling like they took away my passion for quilts. I know full well that it is me that allowed that to happen. I did however have my stitching passion reignited and found a new passion for crocheting garments. I am forgiving myself for now about not feeling quilting. I think it will come back one day. Yours will too for knitting. 🧶 What matters is you are still creative in other ways. I am mesmerized when you are drawing.

I really enjoy your videos, Katie. Through you I discovered JAT and have your limited edition project bag, because I ordered so much yarn they sent me another bag which is great and of course I had to get your limited edition stickers.
I ordered the 1st and 2nd Annuals at the same time, now off to order Annual 3 and to see what is in your shop

I enjoyed hearing about your journey to rediscover the love of knitting. I sew tiny doll clothes, and have been focusing on other projects. I think I will try to slow down and rediscover all of the aspects of fabric selection, outfit and accessory design. The rocky hills were stunning!

I like the buckles you used for you waterproof pants.
I have a waterproof pants that have zips around the knees perfect for warm or cool weather. I even used them when I had a total knee replacement surgery.

Hi, Katie. I love the frog pin… I look forward to seeing it made up. I also Iove your idea for the sheep pin. The crocheted shawl is looking great. Great idea of using the yarn that you have spun to spark your knitting mojo… it’s a lovely colour. Good fix on the hiking pants. I don’t like anything tight fitted on my waist either. Take care, Katie❤️❤️

As a long time hiker, I would go with the more comfortable straps. You might want to make both and try them out on shorter hikes with your rucksack before deciding.

Really enjoyed this episode. Loved seeing your John Arbon illustrations and your process in creating a new enamel pin. And I'll be looking for the frog pin to buy for my sister, who loves all things frogs. Also, I'm so very excited for you to knit your first project with your own handspun. I'm a pretty new spinner and hadn't tried it until last month. I had a skein that I fell in love with for some reason. I just wanted to wear it around my neck as a raw skein, lol! So I found a one skein pattern for a drop stitch lace triangle scarf. It was an amazing feeling to knit with that skein and see the project unfold. It just makes me so happy every time I see that scarf. It's a different feeling than I've had with any of my other projects. I wish you joy!
