Raiden is essentially a boss character made playable. Just look at him he's as big as the first boss you smash. Also the alt mode for him is a cool way to make him unique.
If you look carefully, he is actually a bit taller and definitely more massive because, well, if Banglar can have those minions, why should the resistance hold back?!

Shinuichi Taniguchi should get a special award for single-handedly redrawing and animating all the pixel art Wild Guns and Ninja Warriors Again from scratch, just like he did with the SNES originals.
I noticed that every stage tells you a story on the situation you're in.. or the fact that the opposing side becomes more desperate by sending in bigger treats and such.

@@ayar2 from an in-universe perspective, the androids *were* untested; Mulk's forces had no choice but to make do with suboptimal hard-, firm-, and software. Still, Raiden's offensive power compensates quite well.

What a crazy run and character to boot---congrats on the full sweep clear! Who knows how long it'll be until another new release, remake or otherwise, provides for such a fine feat of a project to behold.
I wish more games let you play as a mech. I love Raiden's inclusion in this game. Just wish he was also invulnerable to leg sweeps from the suit enemies. I know they're trying to prevent him from being too OP, but a giant mech being tripped by a guy in a suit doesn't sit well with me... O.o
Oh man, this video does a way better job showing off what makes this game interesting and unique than pretty much any other footage I've seen of it. Really makes me want to give it a shot myself.
The art sytle and music of this game reminds me of a lot of awesome Capcom games of the mid 90s :) Which ties in with your question about "How many other games let you play as a giant mech" - he reminds me of the Sentinel in X Mwn: Children of the Atom :)

This game is worth the buying price just for the awesome soundtrack only. Probably one of the very few game soundtracks that I can remember the tunes very well after all these years, even the boss fight tunes too.
ENEMY 1: "Guys! There's a giant, metal mech...armed with MASSIVE machine guns which fire an infinite amount of ammo; and these bombs which it can rapidly and infinitely drop; and, two GIGANTIC flame-throwers which it uses to fly!" ENEMY 2: "I'll get my knife! Because, if there's anything that giant metal mechs are weak against...it's small knives." ENEMY 3: "I'll just stand there and do NOTHING!" ENEMY 4: "Stand there...and do NOTHING? I like that plan! I will do the same thing!" ENEMY 5: "You're all stupid! Taking two steps forward...and, two steps back with a gun in your hands is the only way of defeating a giant mech. Therefore, I will be doing just that!" ENEMY 1: "Good! I see we're all prepared to act accordingly! This giant mech has no chance."
I remember playing this game on the SNES, and I absolutely loved it!! But this one is a major step above that version! Graphics, animations, and backgrounds TOP NOTCH👍👍⭐
All of those foot soldiers had the balls to come close to a 6 meter tall death dealing machine and try to punch, kick or stab it... now that is a high level of loyalty and commitment.

@@sinfulkivisian20 Well the SNES version really did push the hardware to its limits displaying a lot more large sprites simultaneously than the SNES could handle, so I doubt they had much room left to in that cartridge to add any more content. It's still one of the most impressive arcade perfect games on the SNES to date!
Keep practicing. After alot of raging I managed to beat the game with him on normal. Utilise his grabs when you can. He can even grab and throw the big boss on the first stage
@@MrThunderwing you had to finish the game using Yaksha (the white clad one) to unlock Raiden,. However, keep in mind that you just need to beat Banglar using her, so you can just clear the stages with whatever android you like, and once you reach the checkpoint before the final boss be sure to let yourself get killed then pick Yaksha and beat Banglar, that will unlock Raiden.
@@MrThunderwing kinda, Yaksha's throws are somewhat hit or miss, some tips I can give are always position yourself below banglar, and wait for enemies to approach you, if theyre weak grab them and use down throw, (it raises them, causing damage to banglar's cockpit after slamming them) if theyre more tricky like the kunoichis, the hunchbacks or the golem robots, use your special command grab (up + atk button) and throw them sideways, that will clear some space and hit banglar at the same time, and ALWAYS keep an eye on the laser wall around banglar, when you see it coming, do a somersault to the side with less enemies, after things calm down a bit, return to your spot and repeat.
How many characters called Raiden are there now? Mortal Kombat, Fatal Fury, Metal Gear, now Ninja Warriors... anyone remind others? BTW, there is anything resembling a ninja with this raiden xD but is cool

Impossible on last boss. The enemies don't let you do anything! Grab only with special button and lasers kill enemy in your hand before you throw him into boss.

dont know why but this robot reminds me on robocop and transformer combined image these robots in real life i think with our technology these days it might be possible to create a simple made robot thats programmed to shot everything thats moving but such androids maybe in 2029 like the story tells us in Terminator also imagine good robots are fighting against evil robots

With the exception of Mike Haggar, I've never really been a fan of the "big and powerful but slow" characters in beat-'em-ups. However, considering this thing is a God damn Transformer, oh, I'm definitely going to fuck shit up with him when I eventually get my hands on this game.

So,basically a Sentinel from X-Men fucked an ED-209 from Robocop and this was the result.
Raiden is Sentinel from Marvel vs Capcom 2... They're both cheap and boss like.

I got him by playing through hard mode with Yaksha, but I think you just need to play through the game twice. Not sure.
