Faye honestly makes me sad. In addition to making a pretty good priestess, she's such an adorable looking character and she seems like she could be a very nice person. But Jesus Christ girl, get over Alm already! She needs serious help. XP
Honestly she was one of my favorite units because to me it felt less like she just wanted alm and more that she was looking for something to fight for. This is mainly because she often showes a desire to just go back to the village. And since Alm was her crush as a child she just gravitated you him. Also because she kept my army alive amazingly in my play through.
I actually liked Faye a good bit, because in my game I found out that recruiting her is optional for Alm, and that you can get her on Celica's route. The result was that Faye got abandoned by Alm and the person who took her in was the one she hated most.
I love that you can specifically leave Faye in the village. More exp for your Dude-Only army. I wish Faye had a support with Celica where if you got to A support between them, Faye kills Celica and it Gameovers.

(Don't get me wrong, i like them all, but it's kinda a bit irritating) But i guess with a few black sheep among the good ones, it's hard to complain. (Haven't played Dimitris route yet and not very far into edelgards, but damn my ears are destroyed after Bernies supports)
Monika I do agree that most of Bernie’s c support start of similarly, did not get the chance to listen to Dedue’s supports. While Sylvain is a womanizer, his character is much deeper in the B and A supports (mostly that is womanizing habits hide a deeper issue for him).
@@strikerstratos I know about sylvain, but as hsi supports go deeper, its always in the same direction of him actually disliking women and about his crest. While he's not exactly one-dimensional, his supports are quite a bit in that case. I haven't quite gottewn into Bernies B and A-supports yet, but her C-supports had me cringe alot and gave me a headache. They could have maybe at least had one C-Support in the starting group where she doesn't scream her lungs out. It got boring and obnoxious after the third support. I hope her B and A involves less screaming. Dedue is in that unfortunate scenario of being an actually good character being really reduced in his Supports. It's all either : "This is delicious, teach me cooking please?" or: "You're from duscur, i dont trust you" -> "Youre alright, despite being from duscur" (Glad that Merci at least took a more spiritual approach to it to give it some minimal variety and the byleth one was.. odd at the very best. It had that Beruka-Saizo C-Support-feel) Caspar seems to drift off in the same area sadly (also rip my ears again, what's with this house and screaming, srsly?). I had alot of very good Supports, i love Anette and Felix or as said Merci and Dedue, Ingrid and Seteth had a very insightfull one as well. It's just feels like theres quite some wasted potential on some characters that irks me.
When I played PoR I couldn't stop imagining Oscar wasn't wearing pants because of the color of them in his cavalier battle animation. This video reminded me of this.

Funny, when I first recruited Makalov he missed his first attack while having the weapon advantage AND got hit. That didn't impress me! But when I used him in Radiant Dawn he was actually a big help. (I'm planning on trying to train Fiona in my next RD run. Pray for me.) Sonya and Deen are such weird cases, because Celica has a lot of mages and mercs on her team so either one is redundant. But Saber makes all mercs redundant just by existing anyway and Sonya's the more interesting character. I give Oscar bows when he promotes because the triangle attack is nice to have even if I don't use it a ton.

@@Lynn17 he has high strength and HP, but low everything else. that high damage makes him tempting as an archer, but the myrmidon line helps him with his speed issues. i would say either works

I've always had a bit more of a liking for Corrin than a lot of people, but I can still understand why others wouldn't share my opinion. With that said, your talk about them reminded me of my rewrite of Fates' plot that I was working on and how I really should crack down on that.
What's sad is that Male Corrin seems to get the short end of the stick compared to his female counterpart. I've seen lots of people trying to justify Female Corrin's actions even though they're the same. He also got the short end of the stick in Heroes with Female Corrin getting way more alts than him and being better units.
To be honest female Corrin got more time to shine: Warriors, manga, heroes... Just look at the support between Fallen Corrin and Fallen Berkut in Heroes... that's actually pretty good.

(If that's the case for me, Male Corrin X Azura but true... Cousins. Lol.) For Female Corrin, as far as she can be obviously Canon in Nohr Route as well but unlike Her Male counterpart, ...She's too fabulous indeed due to her designs & even her Improved Artworks than her Original Alt in FEH. I'm so Jealous... Gosh! No wonder many fans are Boys who takes a lot of interests of her. *Nice appeals BlazingKnight.* 30:28 > 31:06 > 31:50 > 32:15. For them in FEW unlike from the FE Fates they're in, I'm glad they got improved due to Voice Acting & better writing Dialogues in the support than it were recently, since the Male is Not Canon to its main story but in DLC & the Female takes a spotlight for the entire part of its Plot, Male Corrin looks calm & sounds gentle & Female Corrin looks nice & sounds a bit stern... As someone who's 235 hours in and only at the second week leading into Chapter 3 on a third play through in a different route for each, I know it'll probably be a while before we see the light of day for any of that XD
I do like Azama as a character because I find his nihilism hilarious, but his supports with Felicia, Setsuna, Azura, and Effie are the ONLY good S supports he has. He's so amazing reclassed as an apothecary then promoted to a merchant for the skills and then reclassed into a great master. In my main Birthright file, I have that set up with him married to Felicia, and Mitama KICKS ASS. When he and Mitama are paired together, they get a gold bar nearly every turn. She doesn't have the best defense, but that's kind of expected with Felicia as her mom and the fact that she's a strategist. Also, I really appreciate the Samuel L Jackson/Pulp Fiction reference with Faye, lmao. And oh man... Faye destroys as a Saint and Pegasus Knight! Peri, Kana, and Anna (in both Awakening and Fates) are probably the worst characters that slay the battlefield, in my opinion. Peri is incredibly overpowered, especially with that resistance stat for a cavalier and hands down the best personal skill in all of Fates, but most of her supports are INCREDIBLY cringey, especially Xander, who I was basically forced to marry her off to because I married Laslow (who ideally I would've paired her with) and the only other available bachelorette for Xander was Felicia, who was certainly not going to screw up Siegbert's growths on my watch. Kana is precious and a great unit with access to a plethora of skills, but they have no real personality besides being a cute kid that loves their parents and being a dragon. I think because Fates came right after Awakening, which had Morgan, who was hands down one of the best characters for storyline and gameplay reasons (especially female Morgan), it was such a disappointment to have the player character's kid have no personality besides just being a 12 year old. Anna is amazing in both Awakening and Fates, but she's kind of a shitty wife and a two dimensional character that has the same one-note joke. All we ever hear about are the money and twin jokes. She flat out admits twice that she will always love money more than you. Yeah, I get the origins of those jokes, and I think for Awakening it was okay because everyone there was a one-note joke anyways, but I don't like how they do that to her in Fates, especially because I had to buy her to use her. And for my male Corrin in Conquest, I basically have to marry them because I don't like erasing children and Flora joins too late/I don't really wanna marry any child units (minus maybe Soleil but she's my daughter in another file so it's weird).
Oscar is not a bad character!! His support with Tanith in PoR and his convo with boyd and Rolf in RD are very well written and show off different sides of his character.

@@nessdbest9387 Well it is for speedrunning and that how they normally rank each unit. Like Boyd is a good unit in Path of Radiant but he lacks a mount, unlike Oscar who not only has canto but has mount unity. In fact he one of the best in Path of Radiant.
Phoenix Shogun you can get a Flame shuriken from a chest in conquest as well. I forgot what chapter but it's obtainable in-game. Edit: Just searched it up. it's obtainable as a drop from Saizo in chapter 12.
Phoenix Shogun The lvl.2 Dawn Armory upgrade Is available after completing chapter 13 so technically you get it two chapters earlier and for free in conquest (Saizo is pretty easy to defeat in that chapter) However in birthright/revelations you can upgrade one or have 2 but tbh there really isn't need of two magic dagger/shuriken especially in revelations.
@@sonicthehedge But Felicia's Plate is a random item you can get from characters in My Castle (To which there are at least 30 to 35 items available from that so getting any other magic weapon other then the Flame Shuriken is up to RNG).
Phoenix Shogun True but I wouldn't really recommend it unless you got offensive skills (like Luna) or unless you gonna farm for it on "My castle" to get it leveled up. Maids aren't known for their offensive capabilities so their skills are mostly supportive, I would give Felicia (or Elise which is better user) A Flame shuriken. That 5 extra might is a huge difference. and since they are dagger units you can basically pick your range (except in late game conquest because of those archers with counter) So yeah unless your gonna spend your time RNGing for your Felica's plate, it's much easier, faster and better the Flame Shuriken. I mostly use Elise as my healer but I have her always equipped with flame shuriken for when there is no need of healing or self-defense. lol I always bench felicia xD
I was thinking about different characterization options for Corrin. Hoshido - Corrin still believes that Nohr is their birth family and acts distant towards the Hoshidan royals at first but warms up to them. Nohr - they act super close to their supposed true family and do things that they wouldn’t normally do with the Hoshidans (might play games with Elise, give Xander a fist bump or something cool, etc) to show how close the family is
Can’t deny that. Azama’s personality does make me want to punch his face in. However, I can definitely say I tend to make him a Berserker because his Str goes through the damn roof
As someone who likes Corrin as a character, that sene with her heart felt moment brought a tear to my eye. That said my most hated characters that are good units (that weren’t on the list) are Ephriam because, in my opinion, he is my least favorite lord due to escaping Valter’s trap without explanation other than “Fade to Black” and then tells his twin sister, who just spent the whole first half of the game looking for him, basically “I had everything under control and then you had to show up and ruin everything”, Shinon because despite being the best sniper in RD, he is a racist that never changes despite Jill and Rayson accepting the other race and he betrayed Ike in POR by siding with Deain, and Aversa who is a good unit in Heroes but I let this sene happen instead: Aversa: “The reward for your capture will fetch me up nicely.” Robin: “You have never been one for commitment have you?” Aversa: “Oh I prefer to let it burn.” (Summoner puts Aversa in the skill inherent slot and Robin in the learn slot.) Robin: “I agree” (Robin learned Odd res wave 3)
Honestly, I IGNORE Deen in Shadows of Valentia. He may be a good myrmidon, but when you ALREADY have THREE others in Celica's path being Saber, Kamui and Jesse (Four if you promote Atlas as one, but don't. Archer is better.), what's the point?
If Malakov’s character was half as good as his utility in PoR, it would be a vast improvement. With Saul, it sounds like they tried to make a character like Miroku from Inuyasha, but left out all of his charm and admirable qualities. Am I the only one who never hated Corrin? How could anyone hate such a sweet angel?
10. An irritating version of one of my favorite Awakening characters good Basara tho. 9. I actually like him but Titiania , Kieran, and Geoffrey I like better but at least he's not... 8. Can't stand him but he is a great fighter I usually use the Sakura and Orochi for healer and other characters for tanks 7. I usually prefer his son over him in character and combat prowess and Sakurai, Orochi, Elise, and Ophelia were the healers with Kagero, Shiro for hidden weapon units 6. Prefer Priscilla as my healer and Lucius as my light magic user 5. Instant bench 4. Even tho his is the better unit I prefer the other unit in character so I usually pick her 3. Never use him so meh 2.deep sigh lackluster personified never played warriors because DW or adaptation of them never appeal to me 1. Good unit especially as a healer but migraine
I think you're overhating Faye. Her character is not that bad. She at least has the excuse of Alm saving her life from Slayde for falling in love w/him. if you recruit her w/Celica, she outright states that missed her. Her A-Support w/Silque has her regret being distant towards her, and she does get married to someone other than Alm. She's certainly better than that abusive parent tharja
Corrin is that character that would have made a way better supporter than main lord. They are easily overshadowed by so many characters in this game, even side characters sometimes have more of an impact than they have. I don't understand why people in game flock to them, other than them being the protagonists (not really, because Azura steals that from them, too), so, naturally, everyone suddenly throws all reason out of the windo to follow a barely grown kid. Yes, it is charming how naive and positive they are (mostly), but, come on. They have potential, yes, but are so inexperienced in battle, strategy etc that I cannot see why either Ryoma or Xander would say, "yep, they are the leaders of our army now." As for Faye... I feel bad for how she was written. That poor girl has been pushed into this role of the girl who loves the main lord, so much that her obsession with Alm makes her aggressive towards others and almost every conversation obnoxious. Even her epilogue text is infuriating.
You should do a top 10 list for good characters who are also good units. I know that could lead to it potentially being another list for the Lords but they're not the only ones who are deep and complex and it will be a tough pick but hey, whatever works.

oscar shouldn't be in this list in my opinion. he maybe bland but that doesn't mean he's a bad character though right? i mean, i do agree that he's a good unit though.
It's not really "bland is bad" but it's more of him being such a great unit and a character with so much potential to grow but never got that push in his game to motivate him to exceed. He never grows because he has to, he just grows cause the numbers said so. While that isn't the making of a bad unit it is for what BlazingKnight would consider a "bad" unit. All opinions
this was a really fun video to watch. you introduced me to yet another 4-5 characters I didn't know existed. BTW would you consider doing a video going over which weapons/classes are preferred in each game. Like I've heard you state that mounted units and axe promotions are good in tellius, magic is broken in awakening, but I havn't seen any posts or anything anywhere that straight up states "this class and weapon is really favored". if anything in awakening the plegia arc felt dark mage and axe heavy, the valm arc seems to have more diversity particularly with a benefit to axe units, and I've noticed all my excellent units are mounts or fliers.
In awakening you just get darkmages, slap a def/mag support on there and give em 5 nosferatu tomes, in my experience, that unit will literally solo enitre chapters

@@strikerstratos I know about sylvain, but as hsi supports go deeper, its always in the same direction of him actually disliking women and about his crest. While he's not exactly one-dimensional, his supports are quite a bit in that case.
I haven't quite gottewn into Bernies B and A-supports yet, but her C-supports had me cringe alot and gave me a headache. They could have maybe at least had one C-Support in the starting group where she doesn't scream her lungs out. It got boring and obnoxious after the third support.
I hope her B and A involves less screaming.
Dedue is in that unfortunate scenario of being an actually good character being really reduced in his Supports. It's all either : "This is delicious, teach me cooking please?" or: "You're from duscur, i dont trust you" -> "Youre alright, despite being from duscur"
(Glad that Merci at least took a more spiritual approach to it to give it some minimal variety and the byleth one was.. odd at the very best. It had that Beruka-Saizo C-Support-feel)
Caspar seems to drift off in the same area sadly (also rip my ears again, what's with this house and screaming, srsly?).
I had alot of very good Supports, i love Anette and Felix or as said Merci and Dedue, Ingrid and Seteth had a very insightfull one as well. It's just feels like theres quite some wasted potential on some characters that irks me.

Sonya and Deen are such weird cases, because Celica has a lot of mages and mercs on her team so either one is redundant. But Saber makes all mercs redundant just by existing anyway and Sonya's the more interesting character.

What's sad is that Male Corrin seems to get the short end of the stick compared to his female counterpart. I've seen lots of people trying to justify Female Corrin's actions even though they're the same. He also got the short end of the stick in Heroes with Female Corrin getting way more alts than him and being better units.

For them in FEW unlike from the FE Fates they're in, I'm glad they got improved due to Voice Acting & better writing Dialogues in the support than it were recently, since the Male is Not Canon to its main story but in DLC & the Female takes a spotlight for the entire part of its Plot, Male Corrin looks calm & sounds gentle & Female Corrin looks nice & sounds a bit stern... It usually fits them without a doubt.

As someone who's 235 hours in and only at the second week leading into Chapter 3 on a third play through in a different route for each, I know it'll probably be a while before we see the light of day for any of that XD
I do like Azama as a character because I find his nihilism hilarious, but his supports with Felicia, Setsuna, Azura, and Effie are the ONLY good S supports he has. He's so amazing reclassed as an apothecary then promoted to a merchant for the skills and then reclassed into a great master. In my main Birthright file, I have that set up with him married to Felicia, and Mitama KICKS ASS. When he and Mitama are paired together, they get a gold bar nearly every turn. She doesn't have the best defense, but that's kind of expected with Felicia as her mom and the fact that she's a strategist.
Also, I really appreciate the Samuel L Jackson/Pulp Fiction reference with Faye, lmao. And oh man... Faye destroys as a Saint and Pegasus Knight!
Peri, Kana, and Anna (in both Awakening and Fates) are probably the worst characters that slay the battlefield, in my opinion. Peri is incredibly overpowered, especially with that resistance stat for a cavalier and hands down the best personal skill in all of Fates, but most of her supports are INCREDIBLY cringey, especially Xander, who I was basically forced to marry her off to because I married Laslow (who ideally I would've paired her with) and the only other available bachelorette for Xander was Felicia, who was certainly not going to screw up Siegbert's growths on my watch. Kana is precious and a great unit with access to a plethora of skills, but they have no real personality besides being a cute kid that loves their parents and being a dragon. I think because Fates came right after Awakening, which had Morgan, who was hands down one of the best characters for storyline and gameplay reasons (especially female Morgan), it was such a disappointment to have the player character's kid have no personality besides just being a 12 year old. Anna is amazing in both Awakening and Fates, but she's kind of a shitty wife and a two dimensional character that has the same one-note joke. All we ever hear about are the money and twin jokes. She flat out admits twice that she will always love money more than you. Yeah, I get the origins of those jokes, and I think for Awakening it was okay because everyone there was a one-note joke anyways, but I don't like how they do that to her in Fates, especially because I had to buy her to use her. And for my male Corrin in Conquest, I basically have to marry them because I don't like erasing children and Flora joins too late/I don't really wanna marry any child units (minus maybe Soleil but she's my daughter in another file so it's weird).

Like Boyd is a good unit in Path of Radiant but he lacks a mount, unlike Oscar who not only has canto but has mount unity. In fact he one of the best in Path of Radiant.

The lvl.2 Dawn Armory upgrade Is available after completing chapter 13 so technically you get it two chapters earlier and for free in conquest (Saizo is pretty easy to defeat in that chapter)
However in birthright/revelations you can upgrade one or have 2 but tbh there really isn't need of two magic dagger/shuriken especially in revelations.
@@sonicthehedge But Felicia's Plate is a random item you can get from characters in My Castle (To which there are at least 30 to 35 items available from that so getting any other magic weapon other then the Flame Shuriken is up to RNG).

True but I wouldn't really recommend it unless you got offensive skills (like Luna) or unless you gonna farm for it on "My castle" to get it leveled up.
Maids aren't known for their offensive capabilities so their skills are mostly supportive, I would give Felicia (or Elise which is better user) A Flame shuriken. That 5 extra might is a huge difference.
and since they are dagger units you can basically pick your range (except in late game conquest because of those archers with counter)
So yeah unless your gonna spend your time RNGing for your Felica's plate, it's much easier, faster and better the Flame Shuriken.
I mostly use Elise as my healer but I have her always equipped with flame shuriken for when there is no need of healing or self-defense.

I was thinking about different characterization options for Corrin.
Hoshido - Corrin still believes that Nohr is their birth family and acts distant towards the Hoshidan royals at first but warms up to them.
Nohr - they act super close to their supposed true family and do things that they wouldn’t normally do with the Hoshidans (might play games with Elise, give Xander a fist bump or something cool, etc) to show how close the family is

As someone who likes Corrin as a character, that sene with her heart felt moment brought a tear to my eye. That said my most hated characters that are good units (that weren’t on the list) are Ephriam because, in my opinion, he is my least favorite lord due to escaping Valter’s trap without explanation other than “Fade to Black” and then tells his twin sister, who just spent the whole first half of the game looking for him, basically “I had everything under control and then you had to show up and ruin everything”, Shinon because despite being the best sniper in RD, he is a racist that never changes despite Jill and Rayson accepting the other race and he betrayed Ike in POR by siding with Deain, and Aversa who is a good unit in Heroes but I let this sene happen instead: Aversa: “The reward for your capture will fetch me up nicely.” Robin: “You have never been one for commitment have you?” Aversa: “Oh I prefer to let it burn.” (Summoner puts Aversa in the skill inherent slot and Robin in the learn slot.) Robin: “I agree” (Robin learned Odd res wave 3)
Honestly, I IGNORE Deen in Shadows of Valentia. He may be a good myrmidon, but when you ALREADY have THREE others in Celica's path being Saber, Kamui and Jesse (Four if you promote Atlas as one, but don't. Archer is better.), what's the point?
If Malakov’s character was half as good as his utility in PoR, it would be a vast improvement.

Corrin is that character that would have made a way better supporter than main lord.
They are easily overshadowed by so many characters in this game, even side characters sometimes have more of an impact than they have. I don't understand why people in game flock to them, other than them being the protagonists (not really, because Azura steals that from them, too), so, naturally, everyone suddenly throws all reason out of the windo to follow a barely grown kid. Yes, it is charming how naive and positive they are (mostly), but, come on.
They have potential, yes, but are so inexperienced in battle, strategy etc that I cannot see why either Ryoma or Xander would say, "yep, they are the leaders of our army now."
As for Faye...
I feel bad for how she was written. That poor girl has been pushed into this role of the girl who loves the main lord, so much that her obsession with Alm makes her aggressive towards others and almost every conversation obnoxious. Even her epilogue text is infuriating.
I respect your opinion on Serra since she's my favorite character in FE7.

oscar shouldn't be in this list in my opinion. he maybe bland but that doesn't mean he's a bad character though right? i mean, i do agree that he's a good unit though.
It's not really "bland is bad" but it's more of him being such a great unit and a character with so much potential to grow but never got that push in his game to motivate him to exceed. He never grows because he has to, he just grows cause the numbers said so. While that isn't the making of a bad unit it is for what BlazingKnight would consider a "bad" unit. All opinions
this was a really fun video to watch. you introduced me to yet another 4-5 characters I didn't know existed. BTW would you consider doing a video going over which weapons/classes are preferred in each game. Like I've heard you state that mounted units and axe promotions are good in tellius, magic is broken in awakening, but I havn't seen any posts or anything anywhere that straight up states "this class and weapon is really favored". if anything in awakening the plegia arc felt dark mage and axe heavy, the valm arc seems to have more diversity particularly with a benefit to axe units, and I've noticed all my excellent units are mounts or fliers.
In awakening you just get darkmages, slap a def/mag support on there and give em 5 nosferatu tomes, in my experience, that unit will literally solo enitre chapters
