Have 2 Sako 85's Varmint 308, Hunter Stainless 222 and a Sako Quad. Only change ever was reduced YoDave spring to lower trigger pull. will not buy any other Rifle then a Sako. Master Pieces and absolute accuracy out of the box.
Współcześnie produkowana broń robi coraz bardziej tandetne wrażenie. Teraz wolał bym kupić dobrze zachowaną broń z lat '80 -''90 niż to co teraz nam proponują.
I'm still shooting a Sako 75 (rebarrelled by Neil McKillop) very happily, but I could well be tempted by a 90. How accurate a rifle is, ie group size, gives a shooter confidence, or it does me.
I've been casually looking for my first hunting rifle, and what I'm hoping to do is invest in something I won't want to replace after a year or so. I'm in eastern Canada. Primary use for the first year will be outdoor ranges in both Nova Scotia and Maine, but my intent is to hunt in British Columbia or Alberta, likely deer or elk, likely ~200m shots or less. But my primary focus is to get really good at longer distances (500m-1km). Most ranges here limit you to 308 due to noise, since suppression is illegal across the board here (don't get me started). Hence, why I'm interested in 6.5PRC. As most of you know, it's a 308-like round with slightly lower bullet weights but still humane for deer/elk, similar recoil, big boost in energy at 200m, and much better at longer distances. The Sako brand stands out in most reviews as one with great pedigree & also good aftermarket coverage/upgrades/accessories. I'm also considering a Benelli Lupo BEST, but so far, the Sako 90 Hunter (stainless with walnut stock) stands out as my first choice. The available calibers aren't what I want, however - it seems like Canada's suppliers offer 300wm, 308, 7rm and 6.5cm. Sako offer very little variety here in their '90 Adventure' series other than those 4 calibers. Their only model that offers 6.5PRC in their S20 Precision. I like the S20 Hunter, and I'm considering it in 30-06, but what I'm hoping as my 'forever' rifle, with respect, isn't going to be laminate. I'm planning on investing the same amount in a scope as I am in the rifle, so if I'm going to be paying off this whole kit over the course of a year or so, I'm hoping to find exactly what I want. Is the demand for 6.5PRC at all growing in the UK? I'm aware of ammo costs, but this caliber ticks too many boxes to be one of those forever-rare calibers that don't seem to make it to the 'deluxe' rifles like the 90 Adventure. (deluxe meaning twice what a good rifle costs, not deeee-luxe monogramed lever actions hailing from the estate of John Wayne).
Hi Chris nice looking rifle regarding the adjustable comb height rather using electrical tape I use on my howa two drill stops load them get to the desired height then lock into position works perfectly
finnlight II, without the dreadful Sako mountbase. owning a finnlight II I feel like i bought the crappy prototype, mounting an optic in order to hold zero was a nightmare
One last question, have you done a review on the 90 Quest? I know it’s a $4k rifle but was interested in what it offers over the 90 Adventure for the $1300 premium?
Hello Chris hope your well and good, would it be possible that you could please review the Mauser M18 Feldjagd, it looks quite the rifle semi weight fluted barrel kalix adjustable cheek piece, Mauser quality action barrel and bolt 👍
I just noticed on my new 300WM Sako 90, that the rifle is no longer semi-controlled round feed. The bolt face is not undercut to allow the rim to slide under the extractor like the 75/85. The bolt needs to be turned down all the way to click over the extractor. This was to fit the twin ejectors, a completely unnecessary change. 😢
@@JSDeerstalking any controlled feed or semi control fed rifle is strongly at the mercy of how the the extractor claw and in this case ejector plunger can keep the case attached to the bolt face when withdrawing it. I got so bored of the 243 85 dropping cases back onto the follower when they slipped off the bolt face extracting
Available, but not particularly common, certainly in the UK. I have only ever encountered a couple and feel they hark from the fast-n-flat days before rangefinders were common. Relatively powerful for relative recoil too
@@chrisparkin431 love my 25-06. Have a Sauer in 308. My next rifle will be in 243. Steiner scopes are nice, but pricey here in the U.S. I am a Bushnell forge and Arken fan myself
@wathaet1386 It's never really been popular here either and us 25-06 fans that do exist can't understand why. Ultimate deer and mid sized game cartridge. It beats the 6.5 creed in many aspects. That is more of a target cal for me

Yes, there are many options and that's one I have used in the past too.
Hi why is the open receiver slightly blocked off towards the front, this wasn't done on the 85 series?

Use Talley Mounts on Sako 85
Chris, any recommendations on mounting rings? Also, does it ship with sling swivels?
Anything Picatinny and yes, there were some in the box

The 75 was a push feed anyway and the 85 was unreliable
