    The observable and objective way you articulate what your hand (and what part of your hand) is doing (how it is rocking) with descriptions of where the hand moves in relation to the body (the hand rocks down and away from the body), in conjunction with the camera angle capturing the motion you describe... this is nothing I have come across before. The way you articulate the motion, how it feels... your descriptions give my brain a path to follow, a line and sensation to trace.
    Thank you for sharing your perspective, it is a gift.

What will be the key, is when you pick it up the next day and practice and chuck. Then the next day you pick it up. Then the next, the next, the next. :) Consistency is key! I believe in you Don!

    Is there a way to chuck when I strum with my thumb?
    It's really difficult to strum and mute it with the same part of my hand

    • @JJMilare
      @JJMilare  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe you can try to chuck when you are doing an upstrum with you thumb. Try to follow up with the palm of your hand. Or, when you are doing a down stroke with your thumb, at the same time mute the string with your left hand/fingers and you can get a similar chuck sound that way

    • @JJMilare

      Pötâtö 06 I would try the same motion with your thumb but stopping the strum faster. Like a faster twist to mute it with your hand. If that doesn’t work then probably try to also learn to strum with your index finger as well. I also strum with my thumb or index. I guess it just depends on how I feel that day :) and depending on the song or technique I use :)

    does anyone know how to chuck when you are strumming with a pick?

    • @JJMilare
      @JJMilare  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually have never tried strumming with a pick before. But I knew someone who used a pick and chuck. I would think that the foundational idea is there...but I think that the difference would be the different angle you would have to play since the pick sticks out more from the finger.

      Ah hmmm. Maybe when u strum with your thumb, you can try to do the twisting movement so that the back of your thumb produces the chuck sound? If that doesn’t work maybe start to become comfortable with strumming with your index finger too? So that you can do some other techniques too?

    HERE'S AN EASIER WAY TO CHUCK.... Most people say to mute with the thumb/palm, but there's an easier way. Make a karate chop pose with your hand and mute the strings near the bridge with edge of your pinky and palm, while strumming with your pointer finger. Basically, you're muting opposite your thumb. IN OTHER WORDS, it's a palm mute strum!

    • @JJMilare
      @JJMilare  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh yea that’s a good way too John! I like to use the way in the video because the motion will help us get used to other techniques like the fan strum or playing really fast. So the techniques will overlap each other :) 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
