This really helped me. Started ukulele about 5 months ago (1st instrument). Now I've been chucking for past 20 minutes, thanks to your informative video. Much appreciation...
Great little tutorial. I like the way you dealt with the topic - good intro, built it slowly and didn't add too much superfluous detail. That idea of the 'karate chop' is a good explanation. Found I could make it more accurate and speed it up in just a couple of minutes. Thanks.
After almost 3 years of trying to learn "How to chuck" about 2 weeks ago I learned by accident before your video came out. And no it was not named after me. Chuck Munshaw
Chucking was invented by Chuck Norris for palm heeling trees and knocking them over in perfect slices to form ukuleles. They were supposed to originally be called Chucklele. Now, although his name has been removed, the technique hasn’t been. Therefore, we have Chucking. How much wood could a wood Chuck Chuck, if a wood Chuck could Chuck wood? Ask Chuck Norris...
I dont usually strum like that with a “flick” of the index finger. I usually do an up and down motion with my index finger sticking out, or i use my thumb to do downstrums and my index for up. Can i do chucking if i strum like that? The “flick” tears up my skin and makes it bleed lol. Thanks!
I was used to playing with a pick, way before I bought my ukulele. Is there a possibility to also demonstrate if chucking with a pick can also be done? I am actually kind of doing it, with the inside of my wrist, but it does not sound as nice as yours. Maybe there's a better way?
Watched this again to improve my strumming patterns. Very helpful. See also the left-hand mute video on this channel (th-cam.com/video/Q1rylOq8-N0/w-d-xo.html).
Finally! Thank you for the super easy explanation. NOW I get it. YAY!
Best explanation of the technique I’ve seen yet.

G'day Terry - love the video..."Chuck" is literally the sound of the mute - an example of "onomatopoeia" - a word that sounds like what it is! :)
