The breakdown and explanation at each phase (main, specialties, and ascension) is spot on. also, i do appreciate the visual breakdown. the other guys just talk about it, but you give us a visual and lets just get to the point, some of us can't do alot of addition in our heads with the different stats. Good video man. The last part of your video is the biggest factor on deciding who to main, in my opinion. Especially with the way Evony devs throw in "freemium" generals in stuff like General Invitation and Trial of Knights events, where you can technically get premium generals without paying. Most recently, Zhao Yun has been showing up a lot in the gen invitation, and if you decide to get him, your best options is Roland or Martinus( Zhao doesn't work with Hannibal). Also recently, the last new cav gen they released was Sun Ce, who has 35% cav attack in main skill AND accepts cav attack book AND has march size AND works with Hannibal. So he's currently the best for Hannibal. I got George Custer from auction a while back when I was coining a bit more so I was able to waste gems in auction lol. But he didn't pair with Roland or Hannibal, and I needed a main cav gen that has a clear path of ascension that won't cost me 1500$+ to get to 10 stars, so I went with Martinus.
Aka, Excellent video! Very informative. I would love to see a video giving your take on the BEST Main and Assistant combination to use, SPECIFICALLY showing which combination will offer offer the best opportunity for defeating big bosses with ZERO wounded. I know there are several variables and factors that play into this, but sticking along the same guidelines you used here, it would be great to see which combinations can be seen as the MOST LETHAL (again, able to beat bigger bosses with ZERO wounded). Thank you for all you do!
Thank you 😊🙏 I’m planning on doing a few videos along those lines, but they like won’t be exactly the type of videos you are referring to here for several reasons. As you said, getting zero wounded on bosses involves a lot more things than just the general combinations. I’ll see what videos I can put together to help with that 😉👌
Thank you perfect timing, I just got Roland and Hannibal, so wasn't sure who to develope. This helps so much. Martinus is my highest general as a monster hunter. Brilliant, concise and so helpful. Please do more comparisons.
I've been playing since 6-7 months and what learnt is if you are able to awaken all other Specialities of Martinus then he is good General or else he is good for nothing....I suggest Hannibal to everyone
Thank you for this general comparison. I hope you can do more since it is so clunky trying to do comparisons thru the game itself. Side by sides like this make it sooo much easier to do a comparison especially for new players like me.
I don't know when it became available compared to the time frame of the video but the *Martinus* _Dragon God_ Skin gives him another 15% Attack and Defence (shame that's not HP), so if you have it and he has a Dragon (and who'd use *Martinus* without a Dragon?) it puts him more in contention again... of course _getting_ that Skin is NOT easy (in Evony terms translating as *_expensive_* but I saved up and waited)
Martinus,' skin was not available when this video was made 👌 Aside from that, my understanding is that the skins provide their buffs irrespective of the general you are using.
If I may be so bold as to make a recommendation for an assistant for Hannibal, Robert the Bruce pairs well. He adds an additional 15% attack to both ground and mounted attack, as well as a 25% ground hp buff that provides real durability to a rein or attack march.
I used a lot of mounted PVP especially in early to mid-stage. For PVE mounted attack is clearly most important, but for PVP I'm more and more in favor of a well-balanced general that can help the horses to get close to my enemy's archers/sieges to take advantage of the mounted attack. The Roland/maximilian double old men combo is ridiculously effective for getting this job done.
Another thing I considered is the mounted monster attack book. I only use Hannibal as pve and the monster attack book adds another 45% I believe which neither of the other 2 can use.
Fantastic bro.. Its funny only last week I was having a debate over these 3 generals with out r5. You must have read my mind lol. As always great video.

@@RedEvony btw, I heard Li Shimin (best one for play free) is not bad as well from Tavern, but i hardly see him there. Maximilian is the only one that you do not to max all 4 specialities. when open general scroll always check Chance %. for example, Historic General Summoning on Charles XII 17.50%, and Sun Ce 7.50%. if you look at Epic Historic General Scroll, Charles XII is 17.91% and Sun Ce is 1.49%. most top players just save scrolls and wait for a good General and time to open.
Hello there thank you for your awesome work. Just a comment on the mounted attack book, in my humble opinion it does not matter if Martinus cannot have that book because the assist gen you will pick for him can have it so not a big deal i would say. But for the gen comparaison only (not with assistant) its a good point. Thx again for your dedicated work :)
Great video Mr. Aka, I would like to know how to develope Roland for monsters, skillbooks have been a nightmare for me so if you could help me with that I would really apreciate it, also who would be the best assistant for that. Thanks .
I actually have a video on skill books that you can check out, if you haven’t already 😉👌 In terms of other things, you need to make sure you’ve done his cultivation completely, given him 5 stars ⭐️, raise his level as high as you can, give him good gear with decent refines. And you should be all set 👍 There are still other things that you could work on, but these will be the main things 🙂 As for assistants, that will really depend on which generals you have available to you. If you want a little starter, Yue Fei is a tavern general that should be a good initial assistant for Roland 👌 You can maybe change later when you get better generals that are compatible with Roland
It really depends on who you have available to you. If you haven’t seen it already, check out my video (link below) on this topic 🙂 How to pick your Best Assistant General th-cam.com/video/_dYC0wKErNY/w-d-xo.html
very useful information, thanks a lot & agree 100% whoever you choose you cant go wrong with any of them I personally prefer Roland goes will with my playing style & that the key factor to choose any general you want to work in Can we see something similar soon for ground & wall defense please ?
Nice comparison. For an assistant for Hannibal I found Takeda Shingen works. For Roland a good choice is Yue Fei who is a lot easier to get. Both work with monster generals like Ceasar
I have found that getting fragments for Hannibal is very easy compared to Roland, and of course, Martinus will be even more difficult to find fragments for when it comes to upgrading beyond the initial five stars. This makes Hannibal, at least with my luck, a better choice in the short to medium term because you can ascend him easier than the other two. So, how quickly can you ascend Hannibal(if you get enough blood to keep up with the fragments)? Sure, once you fully ascend them, you can just use the math, but short term strategy might be to get Hannibal up faster, and then shift his duties in time.
Excellent video, however I think it is just as important to discuss pairings with assistant generals and the combined stats. That makes for a longer more complicated video, but it's important.
Thanks 😊🙏 Unfortunately, it’ll be difficult to discuss pairings when reviewing stats. That’s because the relevance of pairings comes from the generals you actually own. So it makes it difficult for everyone to relate to the information when they don’t have any of the generals to pair with 😅 Of course, when you have a clear situation of a general like Hannibal that is unusually difficult to find assistants for, then it can be mentioned in the review Aside from that, for the most part, reviewing stats is objective, based on the generals’ stats. So that makes it easier for everyone to appreciate 🙂
@@RedEvony I agree, great video, but I will agree with Triggerfish70 on this one where you can do a discussion of the primary pairings with the more common generals(Roland/Hannibal/Martinus as examples). Zhao is another one that has come up since the general portrait exhibition has him at 500 invitations.
I suggest Roland. Hannibal is tough to get an assistant for, and Roland's archer debuffs help as much as an HP buff. Martinus shouldn't even be an option for f2p or low coin accounts, since Fafnir is such a good siege dragon, wasting Fafnir on martinus for his dragon buffs is a HUGE mistake. Use instead Roland/Hannibal with pegasus, the march size increase and attack increase is very useful. There is 4 useful dragons for mounted, but only 2 for siege, and most f2p players won't get any of the other 3 dragons
The choice of general, for a lot of people, will come down to preference. 😉 On a different note, in most situations, Roland’s archer debuffs aren’t really helpful. As is said in the video, if you are sending your mounted march into a situation where there are a lot of archers, then that will be a problem😅 Since Martinus is available in the tavern, he is definitely a F2P option. Tbh, no spirit beast in the game right now is equivalent to having a dragon, and since siege is something that will be needed only when you have advanced significantly in the game, most people will use Fafnir on their mounted general, and eventually have a spirit beast on their siege general. At least until they get a new dragon that they can switch with 👌
I have more Roland fragments than I do Hannibal fragments, so the nod would go to Roland. However, I have developed Li Jing far more than I have either of those and can ascend him just as far as the other 2 as of now. However, I can much more easily get fragments for Roland and Hannibal, so I may leave Li Jing as is. He can always pass on his equipment to another.
Li Jing is in the tavern now,so it wouldn’t be that difficult to ascend him, if you wanted to. Since I’ve been playing, I’ve probably got at least 5 Li Jings 😄. I still use 2 of him for bosses on a daily basis
I really need to know if Leo III is worth getting he is a defense general I already have George and boudica as defense generals. But is he worth replacing one of them with Leo III? Thanks in advance and thank you for another informative content 👍
Leo III is a very good general, but his main buffs are for siege troops. Depending on how you have set up the troops in your keep, if you have a lot of siege, then yeah, he will be a worthwhile addition. If you don’t have much siege, then you might be better off with the generals you have now 🙂👌
Thanks ☺️🙏 Actually, I use Hannibal for Mounted PvP. Before I recently got a better assistant for Hannibal, I was considering switching to Roland. My assistant would have been Zhao Yun. They go pretty well together 👌
Aka, tell about their Assistant generals (most suitable one for each general) also. I clearly have no idea on picking assistant for a general. For a long time I thought mounted general assistant should be a ground general in PVP since ground can kill ranged troops. So, I was sending mounted and ground together with Hannibal and Trajan for a long time 😭😭😭😭
Would be better off sending a ground debuff general...mixing the troops like that takes away from the skills...you want an assistant that compliments the main general
One major thing you’re leaving out is Roland has a lot more flexibility with assistant generals compared to Hannibal who is very limited. That really is a major factor to consider and not just a little cliff note you left at the end of the video.
The main focus of the video was comparing their stats, not their flexibility with assistants. Also, the point you are making was clearly covered in the video. Beyond that, there wasn’t anything else relevant to say
Roland is the most balanced for PVP in all situations. Big defense, debuff, march size. Martinus needs a lot of money to unlock his full power with his latest specialty, and the requirement to have a dragon.
So mounted defense is not important against monsters but it is against players? I’m trying to build a PvP mounted general and was going to go with Roland but after this video Hannibal looked way better
@@Excelsop You will also have fewer injuries against bosses with Roland or Hannibal. Do not forget that Roland offers 16% of march size. Really important.
@@Franc39A6DD the miser just came out with a top 5 mounted troop generals and placed Roland at #1 .. I have tons of fragments for him from the relic chambers anyways so I’m just going to go ahead and get him up .. thanks for the response 💯
Not exactly. Increased march size only becomes valuable once the buffs are at a decent level. March size with bad buffs won’t help much. Also, there are other means of increasing march size. 👌
That’s true (assuming the 110K is correct 😄) when compared to a march of 4M. But the march size is helpful, maybe not so much for PvP, but it helps with bosses and world boss 👌
Yeah, I was using Takeda until recently. I got lucky with a general token and got Sun Ce. Fortunately, he works with Hannibal 👍 Other options for assistants for Hannibal that viewers have shared with me are Prince Eugene and Maximillian
Hannibal can pair wit both Martinus & roland but roland can't pair wit Martinus which is weird, but for me, Martinus is always the main man, the other 2 are good for back up
It all comes down to an assistant anyways.. Martinus has a dragon bonus, which puts way above Roland and Hanibal... And if you low coinier or completely f2p player Hanibal is better assistant than Roland.. when fully developed obviously.. Roland might be better at the beginning, but for PVP hanibal also carries ground buff which help to protect those mounted troops. Make no mistake. Roland comes out better assistant for boss kill and Hanibal about x2 better as PVP.. Martinus is universal main general that goes with a dragon... 😉
Good analytics, but for f2p or low coiners that all has no sence, because for upgrading gens you need tons of gems and bloods. So, any of them is eq good :)
martinus is an overrated genaral , he got 45 % & 25% attack on his last specialty & acending . martinus cant take book so for the beginners its worthless . G. custer is better than martinus because he has almost same base stats , can take book , has 10% march size & he doesnt need any dragon

Before I recently got a better assistant for Hannibal, I was considering switching to Roland. My assistant would have been Zhao Yun. They go pretty well together 👌
I have 2 different Yue Fei generals for Roland, 1 PVP and 1 for monsters with only difference are books
@@SpenceStan888 I use Sanada as asst Gen for bosses with Roland. I will look into Zhao Yun thanks
What about Custard on the mounted generals,
Aka, tell about their Assistant generals (most suitable one for each general) also.
I covered this a bit in one of my previous videos on assistant generals, but I’ll look into making another video on it 😉👌
I am just a noob player so i really don't know what i'm doing.i am currently using martinus as my main and hannibal as assistant.
That’s ok. There are some technicalities involved, but that combination works 😉👍
What about aethelflaed? Good?
Aethel is a top assistance gen for hunt monster, she can pair wit anyone so no problem
Yeah, she’s very good for killing monsters, not for PvP 👌
Good video, ty for the info
Glad to help 😊👍
I have hannibal 10 star, his best assistants are sun ce and maximillian
Thanks for the info 🙏
Didn’t know he was compatible with Maximillian 😃
Aka, can you do 1 video for siege general for free to play?
Planning to 👌
Hannibal also increase buffs of ground troops but Roland is just mounted troops
Martinus makes a really good assistant for a Hannibal :)
Tbh, no, not really 😅
Typically, generals like Martinus that require dragons for their skills, are not good as assistants
@@RedEvony good point, I missed that detail.
My biggest thing is WHO pairs with Roland!? Yue Fei also has massive 3 Star March Size (+14%)...
march size is more important than defence at bosses
Not exactly.
Increased march size only becomes valuable once the buffs are at a decent level.
March size with bad buffs won’t help much.
Also, there are other means of increasing march size. 👌
March size buff at end game 20% is about 110k troops, this is really not all that significant when you talk 4M marches
That’s true (assuming the 110K is correct 😄) when compared to a march of 4M. But the march size is helpful, maybe not so much for PvP, but it helps with bosses and world boss 👌
Very good video
Thank you 😊🙏
Roland all the way . Pls could u do a video between Elise and Scipio
🙏
😊👍
Do assistance general video
Considering it 👌
@@RedEvony I have Hannibal.... And I'm non coiner hard to find assistant General..... I'm using Takeda
Yeah, I was using Takeda until recently. I got lucky with a general token and got Sun Ce. Fortunately, he works with Hannibal 👍
Other options for assistants for Hannibal that viewers have shared with me are Prince Eugene and Maximillian
Martinus might be stronger because of fafnir
but hannibal can have fafnir too i think
Hannibal can pair wit both Martinus & roland but roland can't pair wit Martinus which is weird, but for me, Martinus is always the main man, the other 2 are good for back up
Actually, Hannibal pairs with Martinus, but not with Roland
@@RedEvony oh I forget 😂, kind of confused a bit
Hello Red good video
Thank you very much 😊🙏
It's like picking between ken Ryu and akuma 😂
Very true 😂👍
It all comes down to an assistant anyways.. Martinus has a dragon bonus, which puts way above Roland and Hanibal... And if you low coinier or completely f2p player Hanibal is better assistant than Roland.. when fully developed obviously.. Roland might be better at the beginning, but for PVP hanibal also carries ground buff which help to protect those mounted troops. Make no mistake. Roland comes out better assistant for boss kill and Hanibal about x2 better as PVP.. Martinus is universal main general that goes with a dragon... 😉
Nice
Thanks 😊🙏
Good analytics, but for f2p or low coiners that all has no sence, because for upgrading gens you need tons of gems and bloods. So, any of them is eq good :)
great surprise hehe
😁
Always Martinus. Use the others as the assistant.
martinus is an overrated genaral , he got 45 % & 25% attack on his last specialty & acending . martinus cant take book so for the beginners its worthless . G. custer is better than martinus because he has almost same base stats , can take book , has 10% march size & he doesnt need any dragon
Too late. I already have a 10 star Roland
Nothing “too late” about that 😂
Well done 👍
