I just remembered an honorable mention I wanted to add: in episode 309 when Usopp challenges Lucci to rile up Luffy and then when they scream back and forth to each other, i just CAAAAANT, the scene is so powerful it hits the right parts of my brain to enjoy. Both VA's really were incredible.
All these moments are engraved in my heart. My #1 is Goodbye merry, because even though I have cried before, we knew things were about to get better and epic. Like with nami and robin. And with vivi we understood the reasons and all. But merry was a loss. That final moments felt like the things you wished to tell someone you lost, and that hit hard. And to hear Merry talk back too.
I love that your number 1 moment made you love Hachi ♥ It truly was powerful on so many levels. For my top 5 moments: 1. Goodbye Merry 2. The Punch. 3. Bink's Sake 4. Monkey family lore drop, that shit blew my mind. 5. Laboon reveal. Especially the fact that we found out at the same time as Luffy and the rest of the gang who were there did. Then realizing how long ago this character was planted.
Jesus fuckin christ I half forgot there's a bit of Water 7 in the 300s, so this set was STACKED as well. A bunch of your honorable mentions could've easily made my top 5 if I had to pick. I think I'd go 1) Get Fucked Charloss 2) Goodbye Merry 3) Did something happen? No I don't think so. 4) Binks' Sake 5) Luffy pushing the zombie back into the ground. Yep, you read that right, I still have that gif handy whenever I need a chuckle. Luffy's eyes widening, and that blank stare as he calmly approaches the zombie. And then casually helps him go back to his home in the ground. Perfection.
Man everything involving the merry during water7/enies lobby is in my top 3 moments in the entire series. I still get SUPER choked up when merry shows up to save them
Just a little note: Zoro is undoubtedly the first mate. The first mate is just the first companion that the captain has been with. Vice captain is questionable because Nami, Sanji and Zoro have all had their moments.
