@@InAllThings24 I remember he judged when i was in high school. Haven't thought about that in years and never thought I'd come across his name on youtube. Anyone have the judges tape for that year?
+Jeremiah Holloman Yeah a lot of Bluecoats go to Devils, I hear they work together a lot (that could be very wrong). But BD is cleaner, just tends to have a more simple book... And they win, RIP Bluecoats ;(
Love the clarity, but i hate their writing.. its like they tried to make everything as technically challenging as possible, instead of focusing on an efficient but phrased musical selection.
+Shattered Broadcast Gaming I Love his writing. I don't like when most drum lines have the same concept when writing music. I understand you may get inspired by other composers but you need to develop your own sound and this is Dev's sound. In my opinion I like it.
God, I miss those pearl drums.
Keegan Watts facts
The sound quality got noticeably worse when they went to System Blue the following year
@@benjaminkenobi21 well there's been a change of fate. System Blue's distributor went broke, so now bd's switching it up
@@victorcordon3411 yeah, and Ludwig drums basically sound like pearls anyway lol
I do think system blue basses are slightly better but the snares and for sure the tenors sound better on pearl
The snare tuning was godly. I really miss the pearl drums
There's so much more tone speaking out of the drums as compared to 2016 when they switched to System Blue drums
Can we all observe that the snare vocal at 5:17 is split down the line by syllables.
I cant even tell what the vocal was
Miles Keaton “hi there mr. marty griffin”
@@InAllThings24 That's the name of my old band director from high school lol
@@InAllThings24 I remember he judged when i was in high school. Haven't thought about that in years and never thought I'd come across his name on youtube. Anyone have the judges tape for that year?
That was fucking squared away.
Tough book and they’re still so clean. Their tuning is beautiful too
6:39 That attack could cure cancer
And the shot at 5:50...
I remember not liking this book that they were playing when they were touring... I now get why they won.... IT's hella hella complicated. Good Shit BD
Still listening June 2024
I think bd should go back to pearl they sound so good. also this is one of my favorite books ever. so clean especially with those great sounding drums
7:15 going in to that double shot ... most impressive.
Their attacks are so clean every time i hear this line play a shot i smile
tis clean
n i m c k
I really wanted another show to beat these guys to be honest, but you know what?
This aged like a fine wine. Haven’t seen this video since 2015-16.
4:36 and then Colin falls down
Clean af
Trophy was well-deserved
6:36 just needs to be an album cover
Never noticed the shooting star at 1:54 on the top left corner
5:16 HI THERE MR. MARTY GRIFFIN. HEY!
Fantastic
NICE JOB BD! Always so COOL WATCHING THEM
One of my favorites from BD 😍
1:08-1:24 is so freaking cool
6:32 goodness
7:35 - np
God 2:05 gets stuck in my head so much like it’s so fucking powerful but catchy
What equipment do you use to record low light lots like this?
Best sounding tenor drums BD ever played on? Plus it sounds like they didn't over-crank the shit out of the Pearls like they do most other drums?
10000%
Does anyone remember the name of the drum tech they had this year? The red haired guy w facial hair?
What a group of bamf
love how the guy keeps getting in the way at 2:00 and he keeps adjusting the camera to get him out of the shot lol
4:51 Damn stick
Ist einfach nur der Hammer und Super, Geil 👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍😉✌
love it
can't wait for the warm up routine... :-)
anybody know what indoor the center snare marched on?
+Carlitos Salazar Sean doesn't march indoor, except for when he was in high school
+jared collins Damn. He's super good for not marching indoor.
+Carlitos Salazar Marched indoor with him in high school, he's actually trash tbh.
+Matthew Walters what makes the center snare trash?
+michaelisgreen9001 his diddles weren't dank enough
does anyone else think the bottom bass harness is a bit low
does any else think people's body structures are different lol
it looks low for him
+cylus cyrus He's right.
+GoodWoodization its def low cuz you can see his center slightly above the normal spot
+Zachary Brenna Yeah I agree, it's too low for him.
Anyone know the vocal at 5:16?
"Hi there, Mr. Marty Griffin."
It's directed at the percussion judge, I think.
The vocal depends on the percussion judge they had. It would be "Hi there *judge name* how is your day?"
+vincentcoakley7 What does Brandon say? He says something with a high pitch at the end.
+DrumCorpsTube It sounds like "Hi there, Mr. Marty Griffin. Hey." because "Hi there, Mr. Marty Griffin" has 8 syllables max and there are 9 snares.
Nick Le Brandon says “Hi” if the name ends in 8 syllables
Last time their entire book wasn’t diddles
0:47 *nut*
Hi there Mr Marty Griffin, hey!
Hahaha, that made me laugh. xad
3:45 What are they saying?
MCM
Clizeeeeeeen!!!!!!
Lol 5:16 that's clever, I've never seen someone do that before but do the judges know they say that?
Depends where the field the judge is at the time. If he's staged in front of the snares for adjudication, then oh well 😕
The guy in the beginning in the snare line on the far left ( the last one) why did he move from the bluecoats
+Jeremiah Holloman i think his girlfriend was marching BD, also it seems like a decent amount of Bluecoat percussion move to BD
+Jeremiah Holloman Yeah a lot of Bluecoats go to Devils, I hear they work together a lot (that could be very wrong). But BD is cleaner, just tends to have a more simple book... And they win, RIP Bluecoats ;(
Also, I think he lives in SoCal (he was on the Ayala HS line a few years back) so BD is much closer.
+Jonathanwyoyo He marched RCC in 2015
+Ian Unsworth he was not in RCC ever. He was and has been in Rhythm X.
1:37, 9:54
Jeez!
Nice
Cool
Does anybody know if there using the DC17 promarks?
+DrumlineVault101 dc50 i think...
daaamn
are you gonna upload ferguson ?
What sticks?
Nick Fenech system blue
Love the clarity, but i hate their writing.. its like they tried to make everything as technically challenging as possible, instead of focusing on an efficient but phrased musical selection.
Couldn't have said it better myself
+Ryan DeShazo i agree. It fits well with the show.
+Shattered Broadcast Gaming I Love his writing. I don't like when most drum lines have the same concept when writing music. I understand you may get inspired by other composers but you need to develop your own sound and this is Dev's sound. In my opinion I like it.
+Gclarkjr it just seems to me that the brass is playing a completely different show then the percussion is. In my opinion it just doesn't fit.
+Shattered Broadcast Gaming Please, I have to know,,, what is an "efficient but phrased musical selection"?
leave the flams to the cadets 2015
more like cadets 2013
this book reminds me of indoor
Thank
SCV and Cadets were better this year IMO. I even liked the Bluecoats book, which is a lot easier than most of their other books.
way too technical
