Get a strat. Honestly, unless you are playing for a living, and just have to have a certain tone, it doesn't matter too much. Get something you like ad want to play. You aren't locked into a contract with the first one you get.

Myself I go for whatever guitar I like the sound n looks of (strat n tele like guitars for me). Practicing (which most of us could use more of myself included) will make it sound more like whatever genre / band you like.

Only this time you could mention a few other crucial aspect that is important before buy. Talk about body shapes how they lay against the body, is the neck bolted on or glued, (can make a big difference if a newbie drobs it and need fixing) also the tuning key layout, in what angle they put tension on the strings. Whamy bar, floydrose, the material they made of. And also all of that in different prize ranges. Show us first the most affordable guitars first then the gutars between 1k-2k and so on. Maybe also worth to mention for beginners who never even touched a guitar before that the cheapest acoustic guitar is just perfect to choose to start learning on. It has everything to learn the basics. Because when someone wants to learn to play a guitar, they don't just buy A guitar, or THE guitar. They buy their FIRST guitar. And later on if they really get into playing, they will buy another one regardless. And then another one ... and so on. Should they give up for any reason, like get bored with it, or no time to practise ... whatever it might be, so the cheapest was not a big waste of money. Thank you for your attention.

I know this is late but a very versatile guitar that gets you a bit of everything on a budget is a squier affinity HSS strat. Thats the cheaper "lower range" fender guitars that are made in the far east instead of the americas which makes it cheaper but they are great starter guitars that play very well for the price point. and I wouldnt worry about a shitty amp for now. all entry level amps are somewhat the same and dont give the greatest tone, a great beginner amp is the marshal code 25 its a small amp with a lot of power, its a digital amp so it essentially models sounds from other amps and tries to emulate the sound of the selected amp also it has in built pedals which you can select via the app on your phone! it is a great amp I highly recommend it!
Just caught this, I started playing 5 years ago and a lesson learned is scale length, if you have small hands, 25.5" lengths like Fender etc are ok for rythm but if you haven't got a long stretch eg more than 3 frets, it's impossible to get the full range.

It has to feel right too... I remember playing a Squier Jag (~$500... off cream coloured... ugly as hell), but it just felt perfect - the sound and everything... went back a few weeks later and it was already sold :-(
On a Gretsch, if you set the pot volumes low, you can crank the amp a little hotter than normal without getting too loud and use the master knob for touch control. Also the Gretsch jets have a high freq pass thru on the master volume. This essentially will convert the volume into a bass roll off as it won't actually sound much quieter when you turn it down, only less bass until it mutes. You have to turn the tone down with the volume, at the same time. But, with this you can balance the tone and bass similar to channel jumping an amplifier. GRETSCH RULES!
yeah i like the part of the guide... buy you are ignoring prices.... i mean i would love a gibson les paul or a fender, but they are expensive... You should recomend guitars for economic prices, like the squire affinity hss or epiphone sg
My personal preference on choosing your first electric guitar. If you are a Jimi Hendrix or an Eric Clapton fan go for a stratocaster if you are basically someone that likes Rock If you are a polyphia fan or any kind of rock and metal go Ibanez If your an AC//DC fan nothing wrong with going SG or Les Paul If you like Jazz Music go for a Hollowbody guitar If you like Nirvana and Kurt Cobain get a jazzmaster or a jaguar But if you like country rock or country a telecaster is not bad.

Get Yamaha PAC120H and a positive grid spark. You will be able to play everything - except fancy metal stuff that requires 24 fret and a good Floyd Rose. If you want to do that, I guess Ibanez, Harley Benton? Eart? I don't know.
Thank heavens for Epiphones n Squiers. Most other guitars are copies of Strat, Les Pauls n the Gibson Spanish Electrics. But they tend to be rather expensive. So, thanks heavens for the sub-brands - Squier n Epiphone of the makers of these guitars - Gibson n Fender. For semi-hollows, Gretsch Streamliners are pretty good. Anybody wanna argue?😁 Yamaha, Ibanez, ESP, Corts, Chibsons (Chinese copies of Gibsons), PRS, Jackson etc also make great, great guitars, too.

400 can get u a sick first guitar, I would recoment the ltd eclipse 10, its about 150 euros and it is a really sick begginers guitar that can do everything
-T-X-M- well my 40 is for room as well, now if they all have the same effect (I think it does) then yes the 10 one should be able to do so as well, tbh I love the distortion, I had bugera and line 6 before and I can say that blackstar distortion is lovely

In reality..most electric guitars can play everything. jazz to metal to blues to fusion to pop music. It is largely in the hands of the player and the tone / amp sounds that person uses. One thing I would recommend if you want to become famous in music is learn how to sing. Singing ability is the single most influential "instrument" you posess. It makes the most direct connection with your audience and makes writing songs much easier. Your chances of being able tomake money in music are much much higher if you can sing as well as play guitar. Look at Kieth Urban for example, Michael Sweet of Stryper, lots of other examples out there. Jack Blades of Night Ranger and Tommy Shaw of Styx and Damn Yankees.

Most other guitars are copies of Strat, Les Pauls n the Gibson Spanish Electrics.
But they tend to be rather expensive.
So, thanks heavens for the sub-brands - Squier n Epiphone of the makers of
these guitars - Gibson n Fender.
For semi-hollows, Gretsch Streamliners are pretty good.

Yamaha, Ibanez, ESP, Corts, Chibsons (Chinese copies of Gibsons), PRS, Jackson etc also make great, great guitars, too.
I'm so excited to get my first electric guitar after playing acoustic for a couple of years. I am planning on opening up my money box around January. Right now I should have ATLEAST $400 saved up. As a 14 year old who isn't old enough for a job I think I'm doing okay c:

400 can get u a sick first guitar, I would recoment the ltd eclipse 10, its about 150 euros and it is a really sick begginers guitar that can do everything

Cookie Monster Probably a Jazzmaster, which has P-90 pickups. It'll give you a fuzzy but sharp tone, like Yuck.

reeja sanjeev in my humble opinion I just got blackstar I'd core 40w and epiphone prophecy with emg 81 and 85 and it gives EXACT Metallica sound.
-T-X-M- well my 40 is for room as well, now if they all have the same effect (I think it does) then yes the 10 one should be able to do so as well, tbh I love the distortion, I had bugera and line 6 before and I can say that blackstar distortion is lovely
-T-X-M- you see people hate the cheap line 6, I love them because well for 100 bucks (not used) you can only go THAT far and tbh it's not too bad, now I am on my blackstar I think its a little to early for me to judge, but I like it and since I like my bands heavy as hell, the blackstar seems to do the job, again I must repeat that I had the amp for not too long so take this with a grain of salt

In reality..most electric guitars can play everything. jazz to metal to blues to fusion to pop music. It is largely in the hands of the player and the tone / amp sounds that person uses. One thing I would recommend if you want to become famous in music is learn how to sing. Singing ability is the single most influential "instrument" you posess. It makes the most direct connection with your audience and makes writing songs much easier. Your chances of being able tomake money in music are much much higher if you can sing as well as play guitar. Look at Kieth Urban for example, Michael Sweet of Stryper, lots of other examples out there. Jack Blades of Night Ranger and Tommy Shaw of Styx and Damn Yankees.
