when you wiggle the front suspension arms at 2:01 its because you assembled the two rear plastic parts of the arms swapped around, you will noticed it if you line up the small line notches on the back plastic part with the line notch in the front half of the suspension arm theres no play in the suspension
Great video, Rex. It just shows what you can do to one of these if you spend a while tuning the suspension. Those shots at the end sliding on the gravel were awesome! It looks like so much fun! :))
Thanks Mark! Its true and thats one of my favorite parts, is to take what I have (after trying it stock) and make it “mine” i didnt expect it to be so stable on the sand considering the extra yaw it received from suspension tuning but its a hoot to drive! So much more agile and precise than box stock
If you do any sort of jumping with it, you also NEED the aluminum motor mount. Even just hopping it up my driveway on the stock torque tuned motor messed up the motor mount enough to have the gears no longer mesh. As always a great video and it's time to dust off my MF01X for some miles 😁
Very cool! I like that style of chassis to where it can be fit to many wheelbase cars and styles of cars! It did look like it would be fun out on the loose dirt but it also did very well on the hard surface as well. Great job tuning and thanks for the tips and explaining what did and didn't help! Gives the tuning dummies like me a bit more ammo for figuring out our cars!
Hey man, I just found your channel awesome video! I just got mine built and was playing with it. Do you have a recommendation for a servo saver upgrade? It seems like the kit one is super loose and has a lot of play in it letting the car wonder in one direction or the other. Thanks!
It really depends on your set up, however, softer springs or less preload spacers on the shock body will provide lower ride heights, the MF-01X also has two locations on the “C-Hub” for you to mount the lower suspension arm to, they provide different ground clearances. Let me know if this helps
it truly does! we'll see how it does on a track setup hopefully before winter. theres talk of a winter rally series in one of the rc clubs, so im excited to try that!
@@rexrcs rally is my favorite form of RC. And if you combine at the same event twistiy layouts over tarmac together with smooth, packed gravel bits, it'll be the ultimate rally test... and either way a guaranteed blast to drive!
LOL, if you want a 320 body, I can send it to you if you pay the shipping, I have the correct wheels and everything. On another note, I really was disappointed by the Mf01x when I first got it, the whole rear upper wishbone thing was just incomprehendable design. BUT, my 911 carrera fits on the long wheelbase. So, that made it an intstant semi-favorite. lol.
@@rexrcs Its my favorite. I was going to buy one back in like 97/98, but they only had the boxster. So I bought that. Later on the store got the porsche 911 carrera too, and they were parting it out for spares, so I bought the body, wheels and box + instructions, so I basicly got the whole car + accompanying stuff. :D And then I also got a slightly messed up blue one from another deal. :D Its a really nice, basic, porsche. :D
Hi Cory, Thats a really good suggestion, and it’s something I’ve been trying to work on, there’s just so much info and variation to the TT-02 it may be a long series of videos or one very long video. With a rise in popularity for TT-02’s, this video is a priority 👌 thanks for taking the time to confirm that I should keep working on the video
Now to take to the next level go 5k in the front diff unlock the rear diff and start with 15k...will make it more linear and stable on and off power...
Nice man! I have been looking at this chassis and almost got one on my last purchase, but didn't want to go through the build process this time. Looks like it doesn't need too much to perform well.

Yea youre correct! I noticed right after making the video 🤦🏻♂️🤣

interesting...i should check my mesh on that more often, thanks for the tip!!
i built a gymkhana drifter using the mf01x... its surprisingly good but i would love to have a 1-way-diff option... other than that its awesome
Cool little cars. I really dig the bug
Same, so much that I dont often run it anymore because i want to preserve the body haha

i keot you and Mauzyrock in mind when talking about the tuning portion!

Yes, I would recommend either using an XRAY servo saver or the Tamiya High Torque Servo Saver, both with the longer horn option
Hi there Rex, some great hints and tips to tune the MF-01X chassis. Very interesting content. Take care and best wishes to you and the family 😊😉😁
Thank you John 🙌
Very nice. I upgraded my MF01x to the yeahracing wide A-arms. It really helps in the stability of the car.
Very nice!
Hi Rex. Thanks for the video. Just picked up a MF01X. Building out to be Yaris GR tourer.
Good choice! Let me know how it goes
Thanks for the video can u show how to lower the front suspension

@rexrcs can u lower the front with the stock springs?
Great job on that soft front, stiff rear spring setup. It really seems to work now!
it truly does! we'll see how it does on a track setup hopefully before winter.

Great video man! I have the g320 and about to build the beetle, this chassis is fun and pretty resilient. Great stuff man love your channel
Right on! thank you
I think I may have to get a Jimny body for my MF-01X. Now, where to find one...liking the Semi tires you have on it too. 😉
Hello from southeast alaska cool RC's beo
Thanks! And hello!
Rex, you never disappoint man!!! AFV dude!!!!!
Thanks!!! I thought it was a bit long, trying to learn how to squeeze more info out quicker
@@rexrcs All good to me man, love your work!!!
Thanks for the info Rex👊 great video
i just tried rewatching and im cringing

interesting...3mm difference, wider arms? axles? hex adapters? how?
@@rexrcs 911 carrera is a M02/m04 body, so its directly on the long MF01x chassis. I think its starting to get a bit rare as a body these days.
@@tm5123 forgive me, I know which one you are talking about, such a gorgeous little body!

Good stuff rex I'm about to do a mf-01x herbie the love bug style 😎 thanks for the tips
Can you do a TT02 tuning tips? This video be very helpful for when i decide to build the mf01x thanks man.

Thanks for the video, I love the off road drifting. Do you run steel pinion or use stock aluminium? Cheers Rex
I think it currently has a steel one, but I often use stock aluminum, once they wear down I change pinions. thanks for stopping in, cheers!
Speed run challenge ready!!! Are you in?
Sadly Ive sold me MF-01X in anticipation for the XM-01, so I’ll watch from the sidelines this time, good luck!
Why the MF-01X is still important... waaaait a minute! Wrong chassis! lol
I've got my Beetle Rally built but have yet to run it.
I’ll make the mf-01x a fun model! Not hard, its quirkyness already makes it unique! 🤣
Cool video 👍
thank you, glad you enjoyed my amateur home made videos
Awesome
Thanks!
