Gotta love that Tamiya bounce! I have a few rc's from entry level to don't try and explain the cost to your better half unless you want to sleep on the couch and I love all of them but my bouncy little Tamiya rc's always put a huge smile on my face.
I have the Bug Rally on the same MF01X chassis. I had to mod it a little, bearings and oil dampers ( super mini CVAs) It handles way better without the iconic "bounce". Great review it looks awesome! Cheers
I'm currently building a rally track in Oregon that will be open to the public with driver's stand, watering system, electrical access, bathroom access. I'm trying to make America's only rallycross track for rcs
The same spotlights are used on the Escort Mk2. Yes they do take 3mm leds. Headlight 5mm. I used warm white leds on my Escort build, because that would be periodic correct. I will get the Golf body, either as kit or seperate. Time will tell.
I started this week look for rc cars an di love this review! The first thing i really like is that you film the car very close and we can see him going through the rocks and bumps very close instead a small dot far away and passing by the camera really fast. Congratulations!
Great looking car tamiya knocked it out of the park again! and sometimes to our surprise the friction shocks can be good fun! Well done for giving it a nice little run for us to see looked great!
Yup, the friction shocks actually added an element of fun on this one. Probably would have looked sweet in slow motion, but I’ve been on a kick of showing it like it is lately.
I disagree. Mf01x has the most steering and suspension slop i have seen. I have over a dozen rc cars and the Mf01x is by far the worst. Even my grasshopper handles better and drives in a straight line.
@GreatBirdOfHope I think you are right about the steering 🤔 that explains why I can't make my servo center well 😬 thanks for the info. I need to modify it 👍
@@electricnitrorc i have exactly the same problem with only the Mf01x chassis... car won't go straight no matter what. Just keeps steering to whatever was the last input never straightens back out
I've had this one ordered since it was announced. I've got an MF01x escort on the wall already (I even got a second set of wheels and tires so the blue ones can be shelf wheels) and I can't wait to add this one to the collection! Good to see it tearing out up.
Have u seen hsp flying fish ? That chassis is used in alot of models and honestly it is the most simple and most effective chassis i have seen yet. Even guys in Indonesian rc rally channels use them
I am Rally Fanatic and this kit has a great scale look, but it is not going to park next to my XV-01, XV-02 or MST. While Golf will run well in the flats, I do not believe the suspension can handle the really rough stuff or jumps.
I'm about to paint my mk1 kamei in box art very nervous about it any tips from anyone would be awesome...my next tamiya VW has to be my first real car the Beatle so this one can wait haha nice video love tamiya,s...... quirkiness 🤟😎
Most people run them a few times and put them on the shelf. Why should they waste money doing so? Even if you added oil shocks and bearings, I doubt you would even go to a TCS event. Enjoy it the way it is. I keep saying Tamiya fanatics are more modelers than r/c drivers. It's about scale fun, not jumping it 50 feet in the air to the amazement of no one.

Just finished my lotus Europa. Love it .
Hot Hatches are cool...

Looks like a lot of the old TL01 DNA in that chassis!
Yep, if only it had motor in front of the rear axle instead of the rear
Absolutely gorgeous! This is a dream R/C for me!

Nice meeting you while you were at Maness testing out the car. Keep up the good work.
Dude, this is sick! Such a great scale rally car!
MF01X is a good chassi. Ball bearing and oil dampers makes a huge difference. And not forget it's fun to build. Great video as always 👍
Does it go with oil dampers? Or I’d need to get it separately?
@@Andrew-b3h9p my beetle rally didn't came with oil dampers. Not sure about the Golf.

gotta LOVE vw golfs and jettas!! awesome rc too!!
Wanna pick one up!! So rad!
I had a white '85 Golf just like that...take my money!!!
My first car was a Golf 2. Already built a rally beetle (Herbie style) which uses this chassis, too.
Stunning MK2 model!
Looks super cool! Love Tamiya stuff.
Great video. I actually driven thos same chassis with the Ford Escort body on it. Great to see the VW Golf. Fun car for what it is
Definitely rally time my friend!
Another nice build 👍👍
I agree and wouldn't want to either. I'm sure it took more than a minute to build the kit.
That is so Cool 😎 nice work RC Driver ✨
Awesome vw looks great
The rear right upper control arm needs the V-TOYS angles ball cup!
Tamiya equals a like even before the video starts 😀
Its an awsome looking shell 👌

Been waiting on this car.
I love the bounce 😍
Had some TL01 moulds knocking about the place if you ask me... not much work in the design shop for that chassis!!😂😂😂
I hate shelf queens but this may look too good to drive😊
Right! 😃 I was a bit careful with the drive on this one.

Sweet
Agreed! 😀
I'm too lazy for all that painting work 😥😥😅😅

Wow, that looks cool!
Oh NO buddy. Nothing of mine goes on the shelf. Oh NO buddy.
It’s crying out for oil filled shocks, Tamiya should scrap the pogo stick shocks on all their cars and buggies 😊

Bonjour est ce que c’est une voiture tout terrain
It's more like a circus car with zigzag brushed speed..🙄
Say what
Nice
