I have The Medallions 45rpm, "The Letter" b/w "Buick 59" . There was a model 52, model 56, model 61, but as far as I know, no model 59 was made in 1954. I've always wondered what they were referring to.

The Medallions you have on black Dootone was the third press. First is on red label, same as Earth Angel, then came blue, then black..AND there is a 4th on a yellow label Dootone.

I subscribed to you. I started this channel to do collectibles and records, but the records videos got the most views. My dad and I used to go to that Toluca Lake Bob's every Friday for cruise night. I still go fairly often. I hit local thrifts often, but the Goodwills and Salvation Armys are overpriced and picked over around here. I'm having better luck at estate sales and buying lots.
I have a beat copy of the Pure Soul Records by the Packers. I found it in a Chicago record shop. If I'm not mistaken, the label is a Chicago based label. I think I have 1 or 2 others from that label that are pretty good. Cool finds! Keep up the videos!!

It's definitely a mystery. Most people think it's referring to the year, but the record was five years too early.
They thought the song would be revived in five years, so they titled it "Buick '59". That was rock historian Norm N. Nite's explanation.
