Mixed bag this episode! I occasionally find Canadian 45 & LP pressings - in fact just found a 45 copy of The Arrows, "Blues Theme" on Capitol - Notice that Davie Allan is not credited on label. ...Also found a Link Wray 45 of "Jack The Ripper"/"The Black Widow" on Swan Records - another Wray classic! ...I love exotica and pick both 45s & LPs up when clean and cheap! Found a NM copy of that Les Baxter LP, "Tamboo" last year - now one of my fave exotica LPs! ...AND, I found a Crown LP I've been looking for forever - the Tommy Roe comp which includes his rare garage classics "Cave Man" & "I Got A Girl" - A LOT cheaper ($1.99 at GW) than finding the mega-rare 45!
I love finding great records out in the wild. I used to often find Canadian pressings sometime while in the Navy in Washington State back in the nineties. I know I have a Canadian copy of the first Doors album somewhere. Crown records usually suffer from poor quality album covers that fell apart. I often find surf and hot rod records on Crown here in SoCal.
Having discovered it myself and not hearing of anyone who knows of it yet loving many of their songs, I always thought Blancmange was pronounced “blank-mange” rather than “blah-maj”, thank you sir for showing me the correct way to say it
I've never seen a Canadian pressing of a Stax record (or Parrot) searching in Kentucky/Tennessee. I never find Link Wray singles either, although I picked up a Link Wray & The Ray Men LP (a reissue on Sundazed) at a new record store that just opened here.
Some records were only popular in certain regions, so you won't find them everywhere. From what I've heard Rumble was banned in some places back in the fifties, so that may play a part in original pressing Link Wray records not popping up in your area. The Canadian records that were probably brought into the area by someone who moved out here.
I have a lot of Ravens records Most of them are on National, some on Columbia, and on Mercury the Group that started Rhythm And Blues Vocal Groups and Doo Wop.
I remember hearing they were all under the same ownership. I saw on a historic LA Facebook group within the last year that there was an effort to save the building that housed their pressing plants.

Listened to new wave growing up and KROQ was very popular here in Los Angeles. Always heard how the DJs pronounced it.
Cool Stuff Mike.......Have fun in Vegas at SEMA.....Truly the best event on your chanel....
Thanks. SEMA is a tough one to cover, but always worth it.
Very enjoyable video. Nice and low key in this crazy world. The Lords of Flatbush is a keeper. I have never seen it before as well. God bless.
I doubt I'll ever come across that soundtrack again.

hi mike sold same exotica copy mint for about 32 dollars almost 20 years ago.. my highest denny record... marc
I wasn't expecting the value to be so high since Martin Denny pops up so regularly. Grabbed it since it was so clean.

Off the top of my head I know I have Ravens on National and Mercury 78s. They were in older videos back when I found them.
Modern, RPM, Flair, And Crown Were All Owned By The Bihari Brothers in the 40's And 50's All Out of Hollywood
