  • MoistCr1TiKaL checks out an amazing video by Barley Sociable that delves into the strange and puzzling incident at Japan's Daisetsuan National Park. Over time, several hikers have vanished without a trace. The only clues left behind are an elaborate SOS sign made from birch trees, seen from the air, and a distressing audio recording of their cries for help.
    As the investigation progressed, the grim discovery of human remains added a dark chapter to the story. Authorities and rescue teams have scoured the area, but no clear answers have surfaced, leaving the fate of the hikers shrouded in mystery. What dark secrets does the Daisetsuan National Park hold? Join us as we analyze the evidence, discuss potential theories, and ponder what truly happened on that remote mountainside.

    Here's a likely scenario about that mystery axe. The cops actually found it, but some dumb idiot at the evidence storage department lost it. And since the case was a big one, the police department decided to just hide the fact that they lost evidence under their care.

    Not relevant to the story, but "hardwood" and "softwood" really necessarily refer to the density of the wood anymore. It did start like that, as angiosperms grow slower than gymnosperms and thus usually will have desner wood. But there are hardwood trees with lower specific desnity than softwood trees. My theory is they didn’t make a mistake when testing the bones originally. It was most likely a woman with type o blood, and the guy calling for help wasn’t the missing guy they said did this all. Seems like 3 different people and their belongings (only one body) got found together by complete accident after the group that was found said it wasn’t their sos sign. And it was either a park ranger who is a serial killer that covered it up, or the Japanese government doesn’t want to cause panic by telling everyone Japan has a serial killer on the loose at a park. Bad PR

    If only trees could talk...
    Trees are actually extremely heavy and difficult to cut down, so I personally cannot see one little office dude cutting down ANY tree, let alone over ten trees, dragging each one into an empty plain, WITHOUT dying of dehydration first. The best thing I could think of is maybe a hiking team (maybe outsiders or guests visiting the country) saw the skeleton and put together the SOS themselves so someone could find the body at a later time. They could have even told people afterwards, but weren't believed, or maybe they didn't care. It just looks to me like a team of people had to make the sign. No axe because they took it with them. Are we sure the logs were cut? You can also burn through a log with fire. It would be helpful to see a photo of the ends of the logs to see if there are any distinct markings from tools or fire. If an ax was involved then maybe another hiker came across it and carried it away. Or maybe dude left the ax somewhere else, wherever he got injured. Like maybe he fell off a cliff and left the ax and was too injured to climb back up for it. Maybe he climbed a tree and left the ax in the tree and then fell. So many possibilities!

    The answer is a simple one. There is a recluse living in that area. He tried to help injured hiker, cut the trees, made SOS sign and pretty much said, "ok, that's all I can do", then left the hiker to die. Various other artifacts from other hikers he may have tried to help, he left there, with the SOS sign, wanting to be done with all of it. Police may be aware of his presence and don't want to disturb him. Thus, case closed without a lot of follow up.
    See! Simple.

    The fact that the police closed the case without knowing what happened to the axe, isn't as big of an issue as it is made out to be, as there are many homicides that are solved, without the weapon ever being found. Hell, many cases are even solved without a body, these days.
    It may be possible that he had stumbled onto some wood that was already cut, perhaps by someone who camped there previously, etc.

    In pineapple express they wanted to tape their phones to a squirrel to throw off Ted. What if this guy attached the tape recorder to an animal in hopes it qould cary his message. It's explains a lot, especially why he would state his location at the end.

    • @TitaniumTurbine
      @TitaniumTurbine หลายเดือนก่อน

      That seems crazy unreliable when you’re in such a large forested area, not to mention it was found in a backpack. It’s a tape recorder, so it can’t loop automatically and trusting an animal will then go and find help is also a LOT to expect. Most wild animals are skiddish and run away when they come across humans. So no, that theory doesn’t really explain a lot. That’s an objectively bad idea, especially if the person is injured and trying to find/hold down an animal to tape a recorder to their body.

    1 it’s entirely possible that he may have had a tool and they just never found it or maybe while he was defending himself from an animal. He had the animal with it an animal ran., 2 hardwood and softwood aren’t classifications of their hardness. It’s a misleading name generally for Evergreen and not Evergreen. There are plenty of softwoods that are harder than hardwoods. all Evergreen trees like pine trees and cedars are softwoods. 3. To explain the SOS he may have followed the basic survival rule of if you’re lost stay where you are so that way people can find you and then he had an accident.. as much as it would be fun to imagine there’s some render mystery. He likely just bet it down maiden SOS the tool was lost and he died.

      I disagree on that theory. Being in moderate to severe pain can make somebody sound like that too, along with being scared and lost. We also don’t know how long they were actually screaming before the recording and how worn out their voice might be, projecting your voice in an era with a lot of foliage can be exhausting. Lots of down-to-earth theories that make sense instead of something malicious.
