A cargo net from the front headrests to the back of the Jeep is a safety idea. You hope it never happens but in a rollover situation those Jackeries become 30 lb projectiles. They’re likely to cause more than a minor headache.
Carpet on the walls is great. Our Intech Flyer has carpeted walls and if we get something else, we’d want carpeted walls. No condensation issues, comfy interior, and ability to Velcro things to the wall.
@tatcasher Wish we could take credit for that brilliant idea. We learned from Tatianna and Danielle @hikertrailer Saves a bunch of space! Thanks for watching!
👍Thanks for the awning rear wall folding tutorial (watched it 2x). Used our rear wall twice last year, and it still is not in the 23zero carry bag it comes in. It rides folded in the trailer during transit, then gets xfr'd into the truck rear seat area, or truck bed, if not in use while camping. Looks like I'll be refolding the wall...once warmer temps return. I take a lot of stuff also, even for our 2-3 night trips, and the furthest we go is 3 hrs from home, but you gotta be comfortable. 😎
So glad it was helpful! @retnav92 We did a video on it a couple years ago. The subject was brought up at the camp out so, we thought it was time to reshoot. It's definitely tricky and should come with instructions! Lol! Comfort is key, at camp!
Im behind but i LOVED the wallpaper on the ceiling was amazing!! I might have to look into something like that. Maybe bring back the glow-in-the-dark stars that stick on the ceiling
Awesome video. For folks thinking about raising their awning, what I did was to use a couple 16” unistruts that connected to the awning bracket. I then attached my awning to the higher ends of the unistruts. Helped raise my awning by 4”. Works great.
Was able to get my hands on some 'Road Dirt'!! Used on Eggs, Veggies, and Chicken so far..let me say... it's the perfect blend of flavorings!! Love It! Hope to be able to replenish soon!!
That's awesome @jenniferroberts3273 So very glad to hear you're enjoying it! Took us over 3 years to perfect that blend and have yet to find something it doesn't work well with. I've even baked cookies with it. We'll have a fresh batch available for purchase, early February. Will make an announcement on our community page when it's ready. Thank so much for letting us know. Feedback really helps. Safe travels.
Thank you for the excellent video. We are chomping at the bit to go somewhere. Still waiting on our lic plate and tags. Once we get that we are gone! We need to put some mile on our new Hiker and get the experience of camping again. Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Beach Mountains. we can't wait. Being on the West Coast, for now its just too far for a Hiker meet up. Looking at the lifesaver 5 gallon. Thank you for showing us how you get it all back together. For right now its all theory for us. Can't wait for the challenge.
You're welcome @gandalfthemead3121 Glad it was useful to you. The waiting is truly the hardest part but, it sounds like you have a fun itinerary planned. Absolutely loved Joshua Tree and Death Valley. We rented a van and filmed both a couple years ago. Sooo fun! Hoping to get out there in our HT, soon. That lifesaver is literally a life saver. One of the best purchases we've made. Here's hoping you plates arrive soon. Have fun and safe travels!
Great video guys I was happy to see you guys at Mammoth caves hopefully I will see you guys up in Beech fork State Park I am going to be in New Hampshire but for different reasons like 2 days before you guys have your get-together I'll be leaving but have yourself a good time and I'll see you guys in West Virginia 😎🐢🌽🌲🇺🇸🌎
Awesome video, We just bought a new to us EOR 509 Hiker and between you guys and Matt and Wendy’s videos I have come up with some good ideas. Looking foward to meeting you guys at HTC 6 next year, and everyone else.
I was trying to figure out why your channel was called Skyways to Highways and now I finally know! The two of you are flight attendants!!! That is cool! What’s even cooler than that is the free travel benefits! Anyways, I’ve been watching yours and Matt Dewits channel. I really enjoy both of them and I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting a Hiker trailer (5X10 mid-range XL) within a year! Keep up the great content.
Lol!!! @user-ew3dm1jq6j The benefits are pretty sweet! There are also layover videos on our playlist, if you haven't found them yet. It's a fun dynamic, balancing the two modes of travel. We're so glad you enjoy our content! Matt and Wendy are the best, aren't they? Thanks so much for watching and let us know when you get your new Hiker! You will love it!
I'm looking at a squaredrop in the next year or two and Hiker is in the lead for which one to get. I'm hoping that they'll work with me on custom options because nothing fits my wants 100%.
@jamesperkins5468 Awesome! HT’s are definitely the way to go, if you’re looking for customizable options. They’re totally open to suggestions and are willing to try just about anything as long as it’s a viable and safe idea. Great customer service, as well and they don’t pay us to say so.
Awesome video Thank you for all of the ideas. I have one question regarding the table from Hiker, what kind of magnets did you use and how did you attach them? Thank you in advance!! Safe travels on your adventures, we love watching y’all!!❤❤
Happy New Year @selinabuenning516 Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it and that it was helpful. We used these. amzn.to/3HnM7GQ They're very strong and durable. Screwed them in from the bottom. I don't remember how many we used, though. Safe travels!
My wife and I live in Pennsylvania and are new to the Hiker community. Kyle from hiker suggested we watch your videos and we have enjoyed several of them tonight. We would love to be a part of one of your events. Where can we find information to attend?
Hi there! So glad to hear you're enjoying our content. We would love to have you join us. Our camp out is in June. Currently there are a few spots available for the dates, which are the 27th-29th. I have placed the link to the campground below, but please send us an email skywaystohighways@gmail.com , so we can get you set up with the rest of the info for the event. Amongst the remaining sites available, #31 is probably your best option. Looking forward to meeting you! newhampshirestateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/lafayette-place-campground/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NH&parkId=270044#sr_a
Thanks for the reply Gary. We just picked up our new Hiker up about a month ago and wanted to outfit it with some items before we get out in the wild, -4 degrees in KS right now so we haven’t had a chance to set anything up yet to check things thoroughly. Plan on meeting you and T in West Virginia.
Once again another fun and informative video. The carpets you guys and others are using for keeping the shoes semi clean, are they waterproof? Where did you purchase them? I use Indoor/Outdoor carpeting but those rugs look much better. Also I noticed Gary put the carpets on the roof racks...did he slide them in a tube or just secure them to the racks? Happy Trails!
Hi @scottgorman. Gary here. The carpets are made of a plastic. you can find them at Walmart ,Target, Camp stores. They dry real fast Drying and are very durable. We just roll them up and secure them to the racks. They become available early spring. They seem go real fast so Start looking early. Hope that was helpful. Thanks for Watching.
@michaelaserre1624 We've heard the same as @lydiaRPowell The doors take up a bit of space on the sides, causing a need to carve that area of the mattress. Literally carve, using an electric turkey carver in some cases. LOL! It's the reason we opted to not add them to our build. Thanks for watching our video. Safe travels.
I would love to hear opinions on why Hiker over Runaway or why Runaway over Hiker. If you just say one or the other has better quality, tell us why. What truly makes it stand out. I know which way I am leaning, but your opinions will certainly help!
@Frank-James Hi Gary Here. Im not that familiar with the runaway trailer. I've been to there web sight and checked out TH-cam. It looks to have a good price point with some good options. I don't like the big AC unit. and didn't see any Solar. I have been following Hiker sense Outside Mag did an article and a TH-cam on it 6 or 7 years ago. Our Hiker is the Midrange XL What we like is having the option of the 2 foot deep galley, solar, water and the LG tool box. You can have them do the work or you can just get the base model and do it all yourself. Over the last 4yrs there customer svc has been great.. Take your time and find what will work best for you. There are a lot of good trailers out there. hope I was some help. Thanks for watching

@JesseStarrPhoto Love that! Such a great idea!
Never thought to store the awning poles in with the awning!! Thank you! You savesd us some room in our toolbox. 😃😃
@tatcasher Wish we could take credit for that brilliant idea. We learned from Tatianna and Danielle @hikertrailer Saves a bunch of space! Thanks for watching!
You two are awesome, thank you!

Very nice vlog you two. Sincerely appreciate your sharing your thoughts and experiences. Learned a few things. Considering one of these units.
Thank you for watching @otrshark ! So glad you enjoyed our video.

Great info ! looking in to a roof box for my teardrop👀
Thanks and Happy New Year @stevenueller7376 A roof box would definitely come in handy. We'll probably add a small one to ours in the near future.

What size awning mats do you use?
Hi @scotlon3430. Gary here. We have 3 mats. Two are 6'x 9 and one is 5x7. or something close to that. Thanks for Watching.

@@skywaystohighwaysThanks Gary I will keep an eye out for them. Happy trails!
It was mentioned that some people have issues with the screen doors. What are the issues?
I've heard people that dislike the additional cost and the way that mattresses sometimes need to be cut down to accommodate the screen doors.

@@skywaystohighways and thanks for featuring my trailer! As cringe as it is to see yourself, I do hope it's helpful to others.
PS, I'll have some Sage for you.
