@@markbraiter4003 There is no need to adjust the settings. What you don’t want to end up with is all the levels above the 0dB setting. As long as they are not more than a couple of dB below zero you will be fine.
that avr right in front of you would make a great external amp! most already have a 'setting to engage the anolog side" bypassing all processing. way cheaper! in general. 70bucks for a prehdmi avr. 5 channels of amp power. if your speakers are "byampable" you can use 4 of the external avr channels tp power them. freeing up power on the new avr. just a thought... larry

I think it actually sounds good the way I have it but I know it could sound better. Any advice on what I should do first to get the best Atmos experience?
Ideally, using the test tones generated in you’re AVR, you want the levels to be as close as possible channel to channel. If you’re boosting the Atmos channels to get more impact, you’re actually reducing the immersive effect and drawing attention to those channels. You could quickly try using any auto setup system in your AVR to see where it sets the channel levels.
For HDMI cables, I just look to see if it’s certified for HDMI v2.x or whatever is the latest standard. For speaker cables, I normally recommend 12 or 14 AWG if you have a fairly powerful amplifier. I have a preference for spade lug ends as they can be tightened down for an excellent connection with good binding posts.
Speaker to Line level input adapters work fine. You can add any amplifier to a speakers output on any reciever and get as much power as your amplifier your connecting will give. These adapters are cheap. $40 and under for every 2 speakers so no need to spend $1,000+ extra just for mire power and Preouts.

Not really. The only exceptions, other than being interested in collecting or a retro look, is that a number of receivers built in the 70’s and 80’s were competing for bragging rights. Many used amplifier sections and power supplies that were incredible. The downside is that these vintage pieces are old enough now to require servicing to keep them going reliably, and many parts used are no longer available. I have an old, nice Sansui from the 60's or early 70's that I don't have a model number for at the moment. I want to play 5.1 surround out of it but it can't. My friend wants me to get an equalizer with it so I can achieve 5.1 and he thinks that will sound good. I am most concerned about stereo music but I would love nice surround sound with games and movies. I have a pair of Klipsch R 820-F's and R 51-M for the back surround. I also have a Klipsch RP-250C Center speaker. Should I get a newer receiver or make it work with an equalizer? Thanks.
@@huffnbassist8779 An equalizer is not going to give you the ability to decode modern surround formats, so I would suggest repurposing the Sansui and maybe setting up a vintage system somewhere else in your home. A new receiver is the way to go for surround.

Unfortunately the X2400 does not have pre-amp outputs for the front left and right channels, which would be required to run a separate amplifier. You might considering upgrading your receiver to a model with pre-amp outputs. Thanks for watching.

Do u know how to connect a onkyo av receiver ht-r540 to a equalizer?
You would need to see if your receiver has a tape or processor loop. Many AVRs don’t have these options anymore.

@@Chiroman527 Pretty much any stereo amplifier with RCA inputs. Just evaluate the amount of power you’ll need based on the speakers you’ll be using.

Normally you insert an EQ in the tape loop, if your receiver has one. Sometimes there is also a “processor” input and output.
Always go manual.
