    Studying for my Interior cert at the moment, but I have years of experience in the tile and stone industry. It really helps with kitchen and bath design. I knew more on the subject than my instructor did, 😂 with the exception of the cabinetry itself.

    Hey! I really liked your video! I got a BFA in interior design 10 years ago, when I was in my early 20s. However, I never really got to work in the interior design industry. Now I want to start and get a job, but idk where to start, I feel I’m behind in terms of knowledge. Residential, airplane, and boat design are the ones that I really like. But ultimately I would like to have my own interior design business, do I need to become licensed in order to do that? I live in New York City. Thanks!! :D

    How do I know if this career is good for me? There are a few schools in Georgia that offer interior design, but also linguistics. Is there any way I can shadow someone in the field and see if I like it? I've always been into organizing and decorating rooms and stuff but I've been into other stuff, too but this seems interesting. There's a few jobs that caught my eye. But I also am interested in learning, interpreting, and deciphering languages.

    What do you recommend if you have an undergraduate degree in psychology/a different background than design?

    • @cassandrakoger2272
      @cassandrakoger2272 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I received a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from a CIDA accredited program (if you are wanting to go to school for ID, make sure it is CIDA accredited). My program focused on the science behind design, specifically with Environmental Psychology (ie. how people experience and use a space). There might be a niche you could fill having a degree in psychology paired with some work experience. One thing to note is that ID programs not only teach design principals, they also teach how to present/convey your design. Additionally, there are large firms (that primarily focus on commercial and healthcare projects) that prefer employees with accreditation with EDAC (Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification). EDAC is great if you like researching and obviously want to tie in your background in psychology.
