  • All too often interior design is fed to us as a frivolous art of cushions and seasonal trends -- but could there be a hidden power to make our lives better physically, emotionally and visually? Interior designer Phoebe Oldrey shares the power of Interior spaces and her passion for designing for the people who use those spaces.
Phoebe Oldrey an interior designer who wants to remind us to think less about the beanbags and the pretty things, and discover more about the layout of spaces and the impact that has on productivity and wellbeing.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Good talk. Thank you for voicing out the importance of interior designers and how we aren't just for aesthetics but the overall sensory of the user/users of the space we design. I am prod to say that I am an interior design student and our roles in our chosen career is important.

Cannot enough about how much I enjoyed this talk. As a student of design this was inspiring to say the very least. Thank-you very much Ms. Oldrey. Now back to my books so I can get out there.

Phoebe Oldrey, totally mesmerizing, & much needed talk. I, being an Interior Designer can totally connect with what you want to deliver to every interior designers out-there, & to all those who belong to this respective field. I'm happy I got to watch this in TEDx Talks.
Interior Design being a lifestyle, is a very crucial, and sensitive matter too. Thus, I actually want every Interior Designers to understand this and design accordingly.
    Thank-you for your talk!

i have been struggling the last few months trying to turn my first apartment into something that feels "like not having a pebble in your shoe" and its so tough, its so easy to put something on the wall or move something to a new location, but trying to understand the relation between an object's functional location and its aesthetics didnt really sink in until recently. function is art and art is function! amazing talk, really catalyzed the stuff i haven't been able to form fully into concrete statements; but have been loosely feeling for the last few months.

Physical, Emotional and Visual aspects of designing...I have finished the interior of my own family's multipurpose room (we are an extended family) last year and after watching this talk all of the emotions, the thoughts, the visions I've had during that time all came back to my thinking...and I was teary-eyed during and after the video. This made me decide to pursue a new job or should I say a purpose in life and let other people's lives "REDESIGNED!"
