I think someone else has already said this, but I'd love to see some videos about cool and weird Sega Saturn platformers. Playstation's obviously a mainstay of your channel, you had a big spree of N64 stuff a year or two back, a couple of Dreamcast games, but I feel like there's a big Saturn-shaped hole in your content and the system has a lot of really cool stuff!

It might be worth considering sponsorships imo, you have solid viewership to the point where you wouldn't have to worry about finances. You can always negotiate to have the ads in the middle or end of videos too, most people don't mind and just skip it in a couple seconds. Just something to think about! Sponsors have kept my business afloat several times when viewership was low, so wanted to throw that out there if you see this

Bro, absolutely monetize your update videos etc. It's still a 50 minute video that you've put together, and TH-cam shoves ads onto videos that you don't monetize anyway, so it's better that some of it would be going to you, no guilt needed

I think that for your Startropics re-review you could take a page out of your "How Canadian TV Shaped Me" vid and keep the title general enough to warrant more clicks (i.e., without mentioning Startropics in the title).

I can speak of my own experience on this channel.
I'm guilty of immediately clicking on your retro/hidden gem/weird old game videos because you're one of my favorite people to do those, but when it comes to videos of new indie games, I find myself not excited to immediately click on them half the time for some reason, that's on me though.
I guess in a sense I'm not on here to find new games to play, but more to enjoy a fun video on weird games of old. Even if the game is completely new to me, I enjoy the nostalgic vibes those kinds of videos bring.

Man there is so much in this video I can relate to and wish to comment on but I'll just narrow it down to something others may not comment on. At 41:33 on the topic of having your videos be instantly recognisable at a glance, I TOTALLY get it. I went through a surprisingly vigorous process to perfect and animate my little character in corner of my video essays so that people know it's my video and not just another indistinguishable TF2 video on the pile of others on TH-cam. Animating it is a pain but It helps get across myself as an animator as well as seperating myself from 'png youtubers' not that I think anything is wrong with that, but I want to seprate myself from others and so I really understand that desire to make your stuff unique, and I think it's working really well for you! The darker background fits the brand and contributes to the video in a clever way (helping focus in on the footage) so I think it's great!

TH-cam's algorithm is absolutely garbo at doing its job, and that's absolutely dumb. While I haven't personally had the issue of not getting subscription updates from your channel, I'm sure the algorithm's been kinda' poopy for others.
Your content's helped me get through lots of tough times, and I love the way your videos are formatted, so I look forward to the future!
Also, you made me want peanuts.

There's a difference between clickbait and making your thumbnails and titles more palatable for a new audience, the content won't change since it is already really solid. But adding a small tagline to each video is a good way of convincing new people to watch your videos.

Edit: And yes, you did talk about the low poly furniture in the game during a review- I think it was that that made it dawn on me you hadn’t given it its own video yet!

Edit 1: it’s 100% fair to monetize these update videos, TH-cam still shows ads on the videos anyways so not monetizing it doesn’t affect the viewer much unless you pack it with midrolls or something.

my brother. There are people out there who have expendable income and want to see artists like you have enough resources to continue doing what you love, because we love it. I wouldn't give you money "for nothing," the money goes towards helping you comfortably put out videos you want to put out.
All that to say, I would gladly subscribe to a $5 patreon tier "for nothing" just to make sure you're still around. That's just me. But I imagine there's more like me.
Also, I saw TH-cam's Membership program, but I'm unsure which one would take the bigger cut from you. Let us know!

I really loved the Blue Stinger video! I showed it off to some friends who haven't watched you before and they had a riot with it! Really fun to rewatch, what a crazy game.
Hope that things improve for you in 2024, but it sounds like they have in the small and important ways. I think therapy isn't necessarily for everyone if you've got the right support and the ability to examine your feelings -- you're obviously stressed but no need to beat up on yourself! doesn't do anyone any good and being super critical of yourself isn't required to not sound snobbish or anything like that. eating better even a little bit is great, so is regular activity, feels nice to just go walking
anyway, looking forward to the videos you make this year! the platformers one was fun and well done! your enthusiasm for the games you cover is always a big plus

Man, as far as I'm concerned, monetize the hell our of your videos. Your work is never anything less than stellar. I'll happily sit through all of it.
I've been working my way through your platformers playlist when I go to sleep, and they've been so enjoyable. Your production, scripts, and insights are always a joy to take in.
Also, your Star Tropics video was great! I watched it just a couple weeks ago. Can't wait to see the epic re-review!
I hope your financial woes vanish this year. You genuinely deserve to succeed at this.

I’m a high schooler who’s been watching your videos since 13, and I’m approaching 18 this year. Just wanted to share that your personality and way with words continues to be poignantly inspirational to me as a multimedia nerd and aspiring writer. To this day, I struggle to articulate why I enjoy the media I do, but every time I watch your work, I feel touched by your sense of self and willingness to get across the information you do. I also relate to your creative stubbornness and struggle to hold to resolutions, which both burn me out frequently. Your last video on the four 3D platformers was genuinely one of my favorites of yours and I’m happy to see you continue growing! Your charisma is also very resonant with me as an introvert theater kid. I hope this sort of comment doesn’t totally freak you out, but you’re seriously one of my favorite people to watch on TH-cam! Thank you 👋

sorry about the recent vids man, i tried to share them around as much as i could. i, as well as many others, definitely appreciate how your style of reviews go, a lot of the other big reviewers only review very recent releases or they put on a show about it as a character as you've said.

It might be worth making some "compilation" style videos. Like 3d platformer compilations, ect. Whenever I leave TH-cam on when I fall asleep, or just have it on, the algorithm definitely shoots those style videos into my feed often. And if I'm sleeping, I'm just going to have the video running all night you know? Might be worth thinking about!
I just watched your Startropics video and am playing through it myself now.

best wishes for the stats on that indie platformers video man, you deserve it.
me and my buddy played through corn kidz 64 right when it came out before almost anyone on steam had even purchased it, and we kept saying like "oh man can't wait til Mr. Radical plays this game, he's gonna lose it in the best way". then you uploaded that indie platformer video and I immediately knew I had to watch it when I saw the cornish children. that video made me pick up Orbo's Odyssey, which I am suuuuper grateful for because that game is bomb as hell. funny what peak gaming can do
cheers for you and your channel, dude!
