The one reason I can think of justifying the casino helping them move on would be that the workers want to see someone win instead of constantly ripping people off. Doesn’t justify the amount of randomness and grinding, but that would be my guess
Was gonna post something like this. It can probably wear on you watching people coming there, gambling their life savings away trying to win it big, then sadly going home with nothing. Seeing someone actually come out ahead might be refreshing for the spirits.
That's really a lovely explanation. I mean, the workers are just normal human beings trying to make a living, not evil people gleefully enjoying every person that walks out destitute. Similar to how people who work customer service call centers for things like credit cards are just absolutely worn down and gutted with how many stories of desperation and people with very little left. I hope Nitro sees your comment and replies, I'd love to hear his two cents on this, er, two chips rather haha.
Maybe the casino was always rigged against the players, and so, the spirits of the casino staff wanted closure by finally seeing someone win. That's probably why they make you play.
Strange... The only "bad" thing about this game is just a quest? Wow. Edit: I downloaded the game and is very amazing! But the BlackJack mision is just... Well, I don't even want to try, very hard.
"I feel like we're getting to a point where companies really gotta start doing a better job at preserving their old games and making them available...Nobody should pay this much for an old game." NINTENDO, PLEASE TAKE NOTES. Aside from that, great review as always James!
Nintendo, Sony, EA, Sega, Namco, so many companies that should repropose their old games for the sake of preservation on pc and/or modern consoles, there are so many lost gems out there that can only be played by emulation or spending hundreds on eBay, what a waste.
Either make them available to buy or the laws need to change so we can legally obtain them without fear. If not, it’ll be like the library of Alexandria and all the knowledge will be lost to time
And what’s sad is they already made a good option in the NES classic and SNES classic (and to a WAY lesser extent the PS Classic) where they can do the same thing for other consoles. If these companies took their time they could do the same thing but for more newer consoles like N64 and PS2. If it’s a problem of giving too many games then make like PS2 Racing Classic and a PS2 Horror Classic-make different versions for different genres. Hell make it so you have to order it ahead of time that way they don’t have extras sitting on a shelf-look at the different catalogs for each PS2 classic and pick which ones you want to order. It’s sadly a bit scummy but sadly you have to compromise a little on them wanting money. And hey you get 10-20 games for $70-80 dollars instead of paying $10 each and waiting for each one to be released or being forced to emulate or worse-paying hundreds of dollars for games that are impossible to find….
There's actually one other Echo Night game as well: "Adventure Player" on the PSP was a make-your-own-adventure-game utility released by From Software in Japan only, and one of the example games included on the UMD was "Echo Night #1" -- which was, I believe, a completely original Echo Night side-story.
It was big in the 90s. Jonathan brandis, Devon sawa, and Rider strong rocked it just to name a few. The length varies, but the split bang remains the same.
Kings field was my favourite series they've made. But it's almost impossible to find anyone who knows of the series besides 'Oh yeah, isn't that where the Moonlight Greatsword comes from?"

I imagine that for the casino ghosts, it's probably more of a "I want to re-live the moments of someone winning big and the thrill of it" rather than losing to them because they're more dealers than gamblers, so I think of it as a "reliving the glory days" sort of thing and getting to witness that "Big Win" moment before they go, but that's just speculation I'm mainly looking at it from the Dealer's POV rather than as if they're ghosts from the Kakegurui anime

I discovered this channel this month. I went through all of your early Halloween vids and now, I’m actually here for this year’s early Halloween! Feels pretty great. Great work overall, Nitro. Love your work!
Time has really flown by, felt like I found your channel yesterday and it’s already been around a year! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rewatched your videos and always watch your new ones. I used to put on a playlist of halloween episodes that I’ve already seen 9 times and just chill out. Real cosy channel, thanks for being Awesome ❤️
Been going through the list of old From Software games (so far played King's Field, Kuon, Armored Core, Shadow Tower Abyss) and was curious about this one. Thank you for covering it on your channel! Edit: the casino part was hilarious.
@@Walamonga1313 I loved KF The Ancient City. In fact, I finished it twice. The gameplay is extremely slow, but the atmosphere and the interconnected world are what makes the game so cool in my opinion. Shadow Tower Abyss is an interesting twist on the KF formula, but the game feels unfinished, the story is lacking, and it ends very abrubtly. Kuon is alright, and some ps2 Japanese horror fans like it, but I personally found that it doesn't really bring much new to the genre (I played Silent Hill games, some Fatal Frame games, and Siren before this one). Kuon is not a game where you feel like you are vulnerable and being hunted, as you have all these spells and summons to fight the enemies with. Also, I feel like it tries a bit too hard with all the blood and the dead bodies lying around all over the place. Armored Core I only played a little bit of (the first one), and I'd say it probably was a fun game for ps1 era, not so much anymore.
After binging all your old Halloween videos last month, I’m SO PUMPED for this year. You’ve legitimately made Halloween one of my favorite holidays now. Thank you very much
Holy shit, I think I remember reading about this game a long time ago- back when I was a kid! At least, I remember that there was a game about helping ghosts move on, and that there was something about an evil dagger and a blue stone. I can't wait to see you cover the other games in the series!
Thanks for introducing Hotel Dusk! That game is so awesome, I was so hooked from the beginning. Love your channel, subscribed instantly, love your voice, narration and style. And your taste in games lines so well with mine too. 😊
The premise of going back to the moment everyone died on ship is so interesting and somber, makes me wonder how things would play out if the same idea was done for other tragedies.
What I love about Nitro Rad is that he is part of the remnants of the TH-cam video game reviewer. The look and feel of his videos makes me feel Nostalgic yet the solid production quality makes it modern and new.
If from soft ever made a sequel to echo night you know they'd put in a joke about the casino. Like, you'll talk to a dude and he'll say "how about a bit of gambling?" And then die instantly. They love that kinda stuff. Source: the fact 3d dot game heroes exists.
100% ok with you doing a review on Hotel Dusk. The main thing that always hits when I play it is the little cord that plays when you figure something out or find a clue.
Duuude! The voice acting in this game has such an amazing texture and timber to it, your absolutely right. I'm obsessed with it! Like, I want to do it in a project as an intentional stylistic choice.
Ya know, I'm always a fan of games with stuff like this. A world that has characters that are truly alive, where they that have dreams and regrets that you can help them with, where in some way they are all connected together in this grand story. It's something that has always given me some kind of pleasure of finding out, especially about lesson relating to life. I'm glad that you covered this game, I might one day play it if I ever have the time.
Your videos are becoming more subtly refined as each one releases. The lighting in this one is great, and your selection of games to talk about is very unique. Keep going dude!
The way you talk about games makes me so happy. I can tell how passionate you are about them and its really nice to hear. I'd love to see a video about Hotel Dusk if you ever think you'd make one. It looks interesting and the art style is really cool
I’m glad you covered these cause I tried these out and ended loving these, I wish from soft would do these again even every couple of years would be nice
Really appreciate you, Nitro. You seem like a genuine dude and it's so cozy to bundle up for a Rad video. ESPECIALLY when its spoompy times. Thanks, man. Love ya.
I always kind of wonder if you would ever bring up Hotel: Dusk Room 215 for a long time I did had that game as my number 1 favorite adventure game, don't know I still hold as my favorite adventure game today, but I still am a fan of that game. Really would love to see that game get remade for modern systems, with some voice acting.
I'm glad you gave this game some love. It was one of my favorite PS1 horror games and I remember it fondly to this day, due to how good I felt when I helped out each spirit. It was one of the few games that I played as a kid that wasn't just about blasting the bad guys until the credits rolled.
1:13 god I miss the Armored Core games, I used to play them with my dad growing up. Sad that there really hasn't been any real info on a new title, I'd kill to play a new Armored Core game...
This has to be one of my favorite videos, never knew from soft made a game like this and can always count on your channel to bring these games to light and always find something interesting in them!
FromSoftware's recent PlayStation VR title Deracine is the spiritual successor to Echo Night series, by the way. It's less mechanically intense because it's VR, but still, the similarities are obvious
Duuuuude this was a favorite frogger game! That scene when you have to play as frogger and run down a corridor being chased by a monster for 5 minutes straight was my favorite part
From Software were alzo responsible for the most American game not released in America: Metal Wolf Chaos. If you're on a Fromsoft kick still after October, I HIGHLY recommend the XD version Devolver Digital lovingly localized.
@@julesthief It was first and also they are some sort of the same Series (even with references i don't wana mention because of spoiler). From Software used the name "Dark Souls" because the Name Demon's Souls is exclusive to Sony.
I've been waiting a long for someone to cover this game in depth. This game was critical for me. I remember my dad bringing it home when i was 6, and watching him play the beginning segments of the game. I remember the little girl, Claudia, scaring the crap out of us. Eventually me my brother and sister started playing it and were absolutely captivated, it took us years to finally beat it. I played resident evil a lot as a kid, but echo night was the first to actually scare me. Aside from the horror, it made me look at games with a more deeper meaning, it made me feel emotions and enthralled in the story, which is why i see it as one of the more important games of my childhood.
I've heard FromSoftware used their Metal Wolf Chaos Remaster to gauge interest in porting their older games and it didn't do very well, which sucks for me as a classic fromsoft and mecha game fan. (Not to mention to be honest I'm not the biggest Souls fan lol)
It’s sad that this is the first time I’m hearing about metal wolf chaos judging by the age of this comment. But it’s also dumb of fromsoft to judge how their older games would do based off 1 game
Since COVID has basically killed any chance of normal Halloween stuff, the main reason I’ve been looking forward to October is all the horror game videos from yours and similar channels.
I love that you do the Halloween videos starting in September. I got inspired by that idea and have been extending my "halloweeny" activities into September too (like watching horror movies constantly, etc.) It's really great, makes my favorite time of year feel longer and more substantial.
"Hit it Big with Dark Souls" uhm... you know they really start to get popular with Demon's Souls on PS3? The only different here is, that the Game is exclusive to Sony. It was a Game liked by so much ppl and importing it out of Japan, that they made a "Stop Importing It" Edition of Demon's Souls :D
I cannot tell you how overjoyed I was to see this game getting praised so highly from you. "Echo Night" was one of the first games I bought for my PS1 back in the day ($15 discount bin at the local Target), and I absolutely loved it. The idea it's so expensive online just blows my mind. It's a great game and all, but come on, a hundred bucks? Guess I should consider myself lucky. :) Lovely video as always, and I'm super stoked to see what you have to say about the other two installments!
So last month I completed the fromsoftware vr game Déraciné, it was a fantastic experience but now seeing this I'm seeing a lot of very interesting connections between the two games red stones and flashbacks make a feature. I will certainly need to check echonight out with this. Thanks for spotting a FromSoftware gem.

Heck yeah! My favorite time of the year, when James begins posting Halloween episodes nearly a month and a half in advance.
I come back to this channel every year on October for your reviews on horror games. love them
Been going through the list of old From Software games (so far played King's Field, Kuon, Armored Core, Shadow Tower Abyss) and was curious about this one. Thank you for covering it on your channel!
Edit: the casino part was hilarious.
How did you like em? So far I only played Kuon and King's Field, but I didn't finish them
@@Walamonga1313 I loved KF The Ancient City.
Underrated TH-cam channel.
Ahh so glad to finally hear you talk about Hotel Dusk! x3
Wow, your lighting is absolutely gorgeous!!
Man, FromSoft really has their own unique sound when it comes to the voice acting in their games.
Echo nights: the Hindenburg disaster story
What I love about Nitro Rad is that he is part of the remnants of the TH-cam video game reviewer. The look and feel of his videos makes me feel Nostalgic yet the solid production quality makes it modern and new.
If from soft ever made a sequel to echo night you know they'd put in a joke about the casino. Like, you'll talk to a dude and he'll say "how about a bit of gambling?" And then die instantly. They love that kinda stuff.
Source: the fact 3d dot game heroes exists.
Waaaait was 3D Dot actually FS??
Damn I’ve been playing their games for a much longer time then I thought if that is the case
Love your videos.
They are a safe heaven for me
I have a playlist of all your horror games since your opinion is so good
That door-opening Mario really gave me Toliet In Wonderland vibes.
*MARIO HAS LOGGED IN*
Doing an inventory of all my games and came across both Echo Night games. Maybe they aren’t classics, but they’re so memorable for me.
Seeing Mario bust down the door gave me Toilet in Wonderland PTSD.
*Mario has logged in.*
100% ok with you doing a review on Hotel Dusk. The main thing that always hits when I play it is the little cord that plays when you figure something out or find a clue.
"They really go out of their way to make a lot of the world interactable, even if it doesn't really serve a purpose"
Sounds like Mafia II
Duuude! The voice acting in this game has such an amazing texture and timber to it, your absolutely right. I'm obsessed with it! Like, I want to do it in a project as an intentional stylistic choice.
And so, the spooky times are upon us. I’m ready!
Armored core was my LIFE, I played all of them you gotta review one of them someday
No one really talks about them! Armored Core one, two, another age, and three were fun games with a compelling atmosphere.
Your videos are becoming more subtly refined as each one releases. The lighting in this one is great, and your selection of games to talk about is very unique. Keep going dude!
King's Field and Shadow Tower are a pain to play, but they really nailed the atmosphere. A good example of wisely using limited graphics and sound.
The way you talk about games makes me so happy. I can tell how passionate you are about them and its really nice to hear. I'd love to see a video about Hotel Dusk if you ever think you'd make one. It looks interesting and the art style is really cool
Love the new intro
I’m glad you covered these cause I tried these out and ended loving these, I wish from soft would do these again even every couple of years would be nice
September happens.
James: "IT'S HALLOWEEN BOIIIIIIIISSSSS!!!!!!!!"
Thank you so much for finally mentioning hotel dusk.
"hit it big with darksouls" Ow... my Armored Core
So glad you covered this underrated horror gem. Thank you Nitro. This made my week better.
It feels so weird seeing an actual PS1 Horror Game after seeing so many indie games doing the same thing.
Where do you think that trend came from?
This has to be one of my favorite videos, never knew from soft made a game like this and can always count on your channel to bring these games to light and always find something interesting in them!
Glad we’re done with the frogged series. It was getting long as SomeCallMeJohnny’s Kingdom Hearts series.
Nitro Rad covering horror games is what drew me here last year- can't wait for Octobers vids this year!
Names ship the Orpheus is surprised when everyone dies
FromSoftware's recent PlayStation VR title Deracine is the spiritual successor to Echo Night series, by the way. It's less mechanically intense because it's VR, but still, the similarities are obvious
Yooooo dope ass intro.
I use nitrorads spooky reviews to determine if it's Halloween yet or not. It's official, September is spooky now
Duuuuude this was a favorite frogger game! That scene when you have to play as frogger and run down a corridor being chased by a monster for 5 minutes straight was my favorite part
From Software were alzo responsible for the most American game not released in America: Metal Wolf Chaos.
If you're on a Fromsoft kick still after October, I HIGHLY recommend the XD version Devolver Digital lovingly localized.
i like how much passion you put into research of all the games you play.
also i wonder if we can expect some cinematographic openings to videos like we had in silent hill origins?? sorry if i'm asking for too much..
@LAW???? ??? ??
im so glad you finally brought up Hotel Dusk
“BloodBounrne, Sekiro and of Course Dark souls series”
Demon souls fan me: “sighs”
Is Demon Souls not a part of the Dark Souls series?
@@julesthief they're technically different series, and exist in different worlds
Tbh most people usually group dark souls and demon souls together
@@julesthief It was first and also they are some sort of the same Series (even with references i don't wana mention because of spoiler). From Software used the name "Dark Souls" because the Name Demon's Souls is exclusive to Sony.
Thank you guys for explaining it to me!
PLEASE review Spy vs Spy (2005), it’s one of my childhood treasures and it doesn’t have any decent reviews on TH-cam so pleaseeeee
nothing lifts the spirits quite like a halloween episode in september. i fucking LOVE this channel
There were allegedly leaks that hint that FromSoft's next game might be another Armored Core game. We can only hope.
Tbh since the time of me making this comment I have become a bigger Souls fan but the fact remains I still want them to do a new mech game
@@TekTheNinja armored core 6
I hope so
Since COVID has basically killed any chance of normal Halloween stuff, the main reason I’ve been looking forward to October is all the horror game videos from yours and similar channels.
Wow, James, you always make me be interested in games I didn't knew.
BTW, Parasite Eve...
I love that you do the Halloween videos starting in September. I got inspired by that idea and have been extending my "halloweeny" activities into September too (like watching horror movies constantly, etc.) It's really great, makes my favorite time of year feel longer and more substantial.
Finally! A relief from the endless shower of frogger games.
Nitrorad Holloween is the best time of the year
"Hit it Big with Dark Souls" uhm... you know they really start to get popular with Demon's Souls on PS3? The only different here is, that the Game is exclusive to Sony.
It was a Game liked by so much ppl and importing it out of Japan, that they made a "Stop Importing It" Edition of Demon's Souls :D
i am really stoked to see your video on the sequel! this is the first i've heard of this series and you got me excited!
Ah, I see FromSoftware has been making unintuitive, awkward control schemes from the very beginning.
I'm so happy to see his channel grow and do well. He is such a fun and good TH-camr
Lovely video as always, and I'm super stoked to see what you have to say about the other two installments!
Dude I appreciate it so much that you use tracks from Hotel Dusk so often.... Love that game!
I was just thinking how I missed the Halloween episodes. These are always my favorites.
