    I just purchase the front camera only and it’s working great. I’ve learned that if you hold the file button (far right) for ~5sec it will turn Wi-Fi on and off.

      When I first got my camera it was locked on Wi-Fi and I though it was defective. I was ready to send it back when I finally read about holding the far right button for 5 seconds.

    For the WiFi option to turn it on or off quickly, you can press and hold the live video source button on the device for 5 seconds. That is the button to the right of the 'MIC' button. Also at the top of page 21 in the user manual, it explains how to do the same thing. Hope this helps.
    Excellent review Danny. I bought this camera recently and I am happy I did so far.

    Doing a factory reset just to switch out of WiFi mode seems extreme to me and totally defeats its purpose of easily changing settings.
    Why not just hold the furthest right WiFi button down for a few seconds to disconnect like you are meant to and is explained in the manual on the top of page 21?
    Also, of course the WiFi will work outside of the car which seems quite useful to me. You can change the WiFi password too, providing you don't go and factory reset every time.

    Also...how well does parking mode work with motion detection? What are the motion detection sensitivity settings?
    One last question....if I set parking mode for 1fps....how much time/space is that using on the memory card? 1 hour in that mode equals what...how many segments....how many Mb's? 5 hours of 1fps recording equals what?
    I'm trying to figure out how much overwriting and wear & tear there would be on the memory card. How long would it take to overwrite all the way if left in 1fps parking mode for whatever amount of time for a 128 or 256 memory card?
    How much is a hardwire kit if I had to get one?
    Sorry for all the questions...but videos usually leave out a lot of these important details.

      The 3 wire hardwired kit in the UK is about £13

    • @DannyDashcam
      @DannyDashcam  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The exact answer about fps recording I'm unsure as I personally don't use parking mode , I prefer to just leave the camera recording in normal recording mode. The 128gb Samsung evo micro ad card I use cost me approx £20 from my memory.co.uk and has been perfect and has been for many friend I know who also use the camera. It keeps approx 9 hours of front and rear clips before looping . Basically because 2 sets of clips go on one card its halfing it so to speak and the files are quite large , approx 0.9 GB for a front and rear 3 min clip if memory serves me right , that is with a modded firmware

    Boot delay is for cars that are not hardwired, as when you put your key onto on position the cigarette lighter is on but turns off again when engine is started and then comes back on again (on my last 2 cams it used to randomly crash/hang my cams, the boot delay would of solved that)

    • @DannyDashcam
      @DannyDashcam  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the info ,
      Yeah that makes sense. The only other issue I've come across is a cam I fitted for a friend who had stop start and the camera shut off when the car re started. I had to wire in a switched permanent power supply feed.

      @@DannyDashcam guess it was switching the socket off every time it restarted engine (sure way to kill car charger or dashcam witch lots of suddon off ons)
      How have you found the a129 as I need to put a dash cam back in my car was looking at getting the whole lot kit (button, cpl, a129, 64gb maybe 128gb MLC based and hardwire kit about £190 for it all) possibly even looking at the a119a v2 for secondary front cam (it's 1440p want it just there in case either one of the two cameras decide to not be recording when there's been a crash or an incident)
      As early morning watched a driver (drunk, 17, does not own the car) crash into 2 parked cars would of been nice to have it on cam (would of made it easier to get the point he was the driver not a passenger as he was claiming to be)

    Hi Danny, would you say this Viofo A129 is better than the nextbase range?

    • @DannyDashcam
      @DannyDashcam  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Peter ,
      I know at least 5 people who have owned nextbase cameras and got fed up of their reliability being a issue so now use this model dashcam . Nextbase use internal batteries to shut down the camera that eventually fail after a couple of years. This camera uses a capacitor to do the job which is more than a 1000 times more reliable . It is a superb camera system , possibly the best value front and rear system available in my opinion. So yes, no question at all, I would buy this over nextbase, 👍

    In order to use parking mode...does it have to be hardwired or will it work in parking mode from the cigarette lighter socket or usb socket?

    • @DannyDashcam
      @DannyDashcam  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In order to use parking mode the camera needs power whilst your away from the car , as long as the USB or cigarette socket has a permanent power supply then parking mode would work fine

  • @blueindigo7690
    @blueindigo7690 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another question...is the 30fps adequate? I am leery of 30fps because that's the lowest that you can go without having problems with jumping/skipping or an all around unsteady picture. It can also seem choppy at higher speeds. This is generally what I have noticed with dash cams overall.
    I prefer video from 60fps (or at least 45). It can capture more detail & doesn't make it look like you are speeding. The higher frame rate slows the movement down & provides a smoother picture.
    But I have seen a few dash cams that have had good processors...and the 30fps was just smooth enough.

    • @DannyDashcam
      @DannyDashcam  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When the rear camera is connected you only have 1080p front and rear quality choice but it is very good. But there are modes firmware available that vastly improve the picture clarity and even viofo used one of these as part of their last firmware update. The video quality is really good for the price as standard, if you use the modded firmware then you'll be even happier

      Seeing all these good, cheaper dashcams makes me totally regret spending £250 on my Nextbase 612. It's a piece of crap, nothing but problems since new, I need a new SD Card every 3/4 months because somehow it manages to break them, and it's "supposed" to be 4K (the night vision is worse than my mate's £50 YI) and Halfords refuse to take it back.

    Great review. I have a A119S and it performs great! A little grainy recording at 1080p and having a corrupted card made the bleeping inbearable. It'd snip 10 minute clips into random intervals and the dashcam will bleep occasionally which isn't great lol. Put a new card in and it's working fine again.

      @DannyDashcam  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks alot 👍
      Yeah , 99 percent of issues are the cards . I've learned don't buy from fleabay sometimes even known Amazon to be fake cards. The link I've added only sell genuine cards at a good price. Also did you try and format the old card? It may not be dead.

    • @PhantomScottZ
      @PhantomScottZ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DannyDashcam No worries :)
      I've bought all my previous card from eBay and they've been working fine with a normal life span, just that my previous dashcam (G1W-C, over 2 years old) had eaten my SD cards although I think the SD card I had recently was a bit of a ticking timebomb. I'll have to look into this for the future
      I did format the SD card via the dashcam and PC (even a full FAT32 format) but still the dashcam wasn't having any of it. Put it to one side for spares for now.

      Yes it should do , I fitted one for a mate also. I tapped a small screw into a roof liner securing lug , he was ok with it because they are small replaceable plastic items. Worked perfectly if you have any maybe try that. But yes it should stick. A mate has a Vauxhall vxr and he's done it
      Maybe use a alcohol wipe to clean surface before securing it.

    Will the Wi-Fi work only inside the vehicle or away?

    • @DannyDashcam
      @DannyDashcam  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Wi-Fi allows you to connect the camera to a device to share the videos you've connected to the device. It is not a way to get onto the Internet . I would likely think it's a quite short range to work properly so only the car at a guess

    I tried this cam and compared it with the former A119 but the results are disappointing regarding the video resolution and night vision. If you have A119 and are interested to update to A129, I would recommend to buy a second A119 instead

    • @DannyDashcam
      @DannyDashcam  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think your offering a fair comparison. A single dashcamera is designed to do a completley different job than a dual camera system. I'm unsure which model A119 you own but yes I do think the A119 is a little better that the A129 DUO , but if you fit a 2nd camera you have some extra things to consider .
      The internal components are powering and saving 2 sets of video and audio where as a single camera is only saving 1 set of audio and footage.
      Price.... It's another £85 for the 2nd A119 dashcamera and you need also a second memory card so possibly another £25 and you need to source another power supply in the rear of your vehicle .
      The A129 DUO has only 1 memory card and 1 power supply to consider.
      The a129 duo has been on offer all over Christmas for about £100 , so for the price and functionality and Bluetooth option and Wi-Fi app . Is it the best footage camera available?? No it's not . But do the good points outweigh the bad one .... yes .... by a country mile .

    I have a 2010 dodge ram and all my fuses are under the hood, I have no fuses in the cabin of my truck for hard-wiring. I,m wondering if this OBD power cable will work with this dash cam...www.ebay.com/itm/Driving-Recorder-Dashcam-Line-OBD-Power-Treasure-Line-Micro-USB-Power-Box-Cable/233137434239?hash=item364812ee7f:g:wdgAAOSwOlxca3GY
    Plus it has an on off switch so I don't have to use the parking mode all the time I can just turn it on when I need it. If that one wont work do you know of a OBD power cable that will work with this camera. Thanks for your help and great review.

      Hi ramssl ,
      Thank you for the comment mate 👍.
      I'm almost certain the OBD port has a permanent power supply and this link is OBD to USB so in theory it would work fine . Be warned there is a risk possibly to your vehicle electronics. Many dont risk using the OBD port for that reason. But personally I think you'd be ok.

There are hardwire kits also with switches. That way it would also be fused from your fuse box but I'd also add a small 2 or 5 amp fuse aswell just for the hardwire kit
